Feminists have spent so long fighting for accurate statistics on women's lives, conditions and behaviour and now that we are beginning to have them, literally everyone is just trying to use spin to convince us not to use them.
If you mention a statistic that shows women tend to behave in positive or benign ways like "women commit vastly less violent crime than men." then you're accused of being a pseudofeminist who has bought into the idea that women are inherently morally superior and can't ever do any wrong. "Men are more violent" is taken to be dogmatic essentialism rather than a hypothesis that's been proven again and again. When people argue against it, they don't show you studies of women being violent, they suggest you just believe in inherent goodness and badness.
If you mention illnesses or horrific events that are more likely to happen to or more adversely impact women, you're accused of stigmatising the men who suffer and telling them their suffering isn't real. (Or that you're being unfair to men by not mentioning things that adversely affect them)
We're told it's unfair to notice patterns of behaviour (and even worse try to then suggest action as a result of these statistics) because it's generalising and probably unfair to some poor man. We're told you can't apply statistics to inform our relationship with the world, society or individual men.
Not to mention postmodernism.
- Now we have undeniable proof that women are globally oppressed! You can't deny it anymore!
- What's a woman? Women don't exist lol
I’ve definitely noticed this. Like “Invisible Women” by Caroline Criado-Perez, which I think is one of the most eye-opening books that any woman could read about how society undervalues us, underserves us, and harms us, yet I now see it called “transphobic” because women = female and man = male and there’s no mention made of females who are men or males who are women. There’s literally no point to that criticism beyond obfuscating harms done to women.
Well she acknowledges that women are treated as second class citizens because of our sex and nowadays trans activists claim that sex based oppression isn't real and is a dog whistle from feminazis so of course she's gonna be called transphobic. Not to mention, she starts by exposing how "gender neutral bathrooms" are not gender neutral at all and explains how the lack of access to female only sanitary facilities is a tremendous problem for all women and girls but especially for poor women.
i've never been happier than when my favorite teacher told us she was reading invisible women last year!
i fuckign queued this and forgot abt it and got scared cuz i thought i was hacked or smth. anyways happy june eleventh

why does this have 32k notes? it’s just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. it’s just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain

happy international women's day i think about this post once a month
Squaw Sachem of Mistick (Saunkskwa) (~1590-1667) for International Women’s Day 2021
The powerful female Massachusett chief (the “Queen of Massachusetts”) who made the deal with Governor John Winthrop of the Massachusetts Bay Colony that allowed the English to settle in most of the greater Boston area, including Cambridge, Watertown, Arlington, Medford, Winchester, Newton, Somerville, Charlestown, Malden, and Concord, in exchange for corn, wampum shell beads, and a new winter coat every winter for life.
Her tribe was troubled by a war with the Mi’kmaq from Maine (who had access to firearms through the French), resulting in the death of her husband, the former sachem Nanepashemet, and the smallpox epidemic, so an alliance with the English seemed like a strategic decision at the time. She lived most of her life by the Mystic River and Mystic Lakes in Medford. Her real name is unknown (the colonists just called her her title, Squaw Sachem, out of respect) and she signed legal documents with a little drawing of a bow and arrow.
Will u join the challenge?
is there a reason for this? like is this part of a strike or something im not aware of?
