Hi guys! Wow Iām terrible at keeping this updated! Today is June 14th! My one year post op was last week on the 8th!!! Canāt believe itās been a year already! My heaviest: 354 ish My day of surgery weight: 296 And my one year post op weight: 220 My weight loss has definitely slowed a lot and itās now more up to me to continue it than before. My meals are still smaller but they have gone more back to normal. I make a very conscious effort not to eat things that are really bad for me. ( fast food, extremely sugar filled foods or drinks, or high fatty foods) I wonāt lie, I will sometimes take a bite of something thatās probably not great, but it usually satisfies my craving and allows me to keep going on my health journey. I do notice that I donāt get as full quickly and so I have to keep that in check and make sure I donāt let it get out of control again. A lot of people ask how I switch to sugar free, because most of the food and drinks are gross but honestly, once you really commit and just accept that you absolutely cannot have it anymore, it gets easier. I donāt mind the tastes as much as I used to when I ate whatever I wanted. I now get excited to see sugar free things that I can have! Thereās more and more coming out and I always take a peak at labels and i have a number that I always think, okay. The fat or sugar in this is above ___ number... itās not worth it. And I move on. I donāt dwell on things I want or wish I could have. I accept it and try to find alternatives and I donāt compare. Obviously a full cream and sugar coffee from Dublin donuts is always going to taste better than skim milk and Splenda coffee, but you learn to live with the change and embrace it. There are definitely days that I canāt see my progress. Like at all. Itās very hard. I will wake up and after eating 3 bites of an egg, look in the mirror and think ā wow, I havenāt changed at allā. If any of you go through this, know that itās a work in progress and that you have changed. I look back at before pictures and see my change and I donāt listen to that voice that says I havenāt. There are days I feel like Iāve never looked better and i feel great. And there are days that feel like Iāll never truly love myself in my own skin and thereās always something Iāll find that makes feel gross or ugly. But those days pass and with time, my self love grows and Iām proud of my journey. I never once regret the surgery. I think I needed it and Iām glad i did it. For anyone who says itās a quick fix, or easy way out. No! thatās so wrong. This surgery helped me get started but I have a long way to go. I choose to be healthy every day I wake up. I have to choose my food and choose to exercise. Itās not easy and it will never be easy but the surgery didnāt just magically undo 15 years of unhealthy eating habits. I have to do that myself. It gave me the push I needed to get started and take control of my health and my life. One year down... I canāt wait to see my progress to come! I definitely need to be more strict about exercise. I hate it. But I need it and Iām not going to change any more unless I get on myself about it. Thanks for reading... I hope this helped anyone whose considering surgery or needs some self love and body positivity. Youāre beautiful the way you are and itās okay to stay that way, but itās also okay to want to change and if you struggle like I have, feel free to message me with questions or concerns. Iāll try to respond in a timely fashion, I definitely donāt check this one as much as I should though!
