This would also make it impossible for disabled grad students - I can’t have roommates because of celiac (I tried, it didn’t work out), and so 2/3 of my paycheck goes right back out as rent.  And I make even less than this guy per year - I make 25-28k/year in one of the worst CoL places in America.  This will wreck the ability of people to go into research. This will make it even worse for people with medical expenses who want to go to school.

The Times attacks trans teenager for applying to Jo Cox leadership programme

The Times newspaper has repeatedly taken aim at a transgender teenager, most recently because she reportedly applied to the Jo Cox leadership programme.

The Times isn’t the only newspaper joining in the fun, either.

These journalists know what they’re doing. They remember that the last time the British press hyper-focused on a single trans woman she took her own life (cw #suicide #transmisogyny). So when they put pen to paper week after week to attack a trans woman who has committed no crime except to attempt to involve herself in public life, there is only one goal they can possibly have:

They’re trying to kill her.

55 Labour activists involved in the Jo Cox Women in Leadership scheme wrote to the newspaper to defend Ms Madigan in response.

The Times declined to publish the letter, in spite of extensive coverage criticising the student.

The Times can publish weeks upon weeks of deeply personal attacks on a teenager, but when people call them out and prove them wrong, the Times ignores it.

This isn’t news. This is a vendetta.

UPDATE: My niece caught me eating doritos out of the bag and drinking tea directly from the pitcher and I told her if she didn’t tell anyone she could say “bastard” next time she got frustrated with something She didn’t tell anyone about me drinking directly from the pitcher and 10 minutes later I heard her call her shoe a bastard and then collapse into laughter. children are amazing
