It’s honestly wild how many times my friends would be like “did you know people were saying this about you?” And I was like. No.
I'd rather be in outer space 🛸

Let's switch out the "disabled people are just as capable" campaign with "disabled people are just as valuable." We shouldn't have to perform, achieve and produce on the same level as abled people to be considered worthy.

Audio: Two guinea pigs munching away on broccoli. One of them picks up its broccoli and bonks the other on the head with it, with a cartoon sound effect
“just so you know, we’ve run out of gas…”
This story just keeps getting worse and worse
Nothing about any of what I just read makes any actual sense
Meanwhile in Plymouth, MN, a white kid this past week brought a gun to his high school, shot it into the air in the hallways, and OF COURSE is taken in without being hurt or shot.
Unfriendly reminder that this was labelled as a "school shooting" for several days in an attempt to cover up what actually happened.
Even unfriendlier reminder that after enough push back, knoxville pd caved and released the body cam footage of all four officers involved. The child was being restrained by two officers at the time he was shot.
So what is the penalty for swatting someone where the victim is shot by police? Ms. Perkins belongs in jail for swatting.
STOP BLAMING THE MOM! She Called the police because her [black] daughter was physically abused and seemed to be in a domestic violence situation. She told the cops she didn't think Anthony was armed. This is on JONATHON CLABOUGH who not only shot a child who was already restrained but also a fellow officer. Not to mention held an innocent bystander at gunpoint for being black.
I'm sick of the media and dipshits who refuse to become informed on a situation twisting the story to be anything a but a reflection of our terrible policing system. Yes the mother was privileged but she was scared that Anthony would continue to abuse her [again black] daughter. Blame the killers for the murder and not the ignorant scapegoat.
She LIED and said he had a GUN! She deserves some of the blame! If she had called the police and told them the truth then she wouldn’t share any of the blame because this might or might not have still happened. But her lie put the entire school in lockdown and allowed the police to have a way to manipulate the narrative of what happened to cover up their crimes.
NO SHE DIDN’T! Give me one source that said she told anyone that he had a gun because every article I read she said specifically that she didn’t think he was armed and told the cops he wasn’t.
Here and Here both report she said he wasn’t armed to the officers. In fact he knew the report of domestic abuse had been made and that officers were probably going to arrest him. And about the gun? He had it. None of this means he should have died. His death is an awful tragedy and would have never occurred if he was white. And we can say he deserved better while also making sure to not slander the name of a scapegoat. Because Perkins didn’t kill him. She made a domestic abuse report in an attempt to protect her daughter. JONATHON CLABOUGH killed him with the police and DA willing to cover it up.
HELL FUCKING YEAH!!!!
every artist who has ever attempted to satirize masculinity i am so sorry
you could name a movie Portrait of a delusional abuser ruining his own life in pursuit of a fictional standard of manhood and 89% of its fanbase would still be like "Fuck yeah man it was so cool when Shit Cumdick gave that badass speech about how pushing everyone away and never letting yourself feel emotions is actually a good idea for your life. fuckin dope flick"

[Image description: The images depicts the same two women through the ages (mentioned above). The woman on the left holds a sign saying, “I am a Palestinian Arab. I was born in Jerusalem. Palestine is my homeland. But I [still] cannot return there.” The woman on the right holds a sign saying, “I am an American Jew. I was born in U.S.A. Israel is not my homeland, but I can “return” there.”]
Say it with me folks:
“Eat the rich” means 1%ers and billionaires
middle class is closer to poverty than being a multimillionaire
“The rich” does NOT include children of billionaires (come on we’re at least slightly better than the plagues of Egypt)
Upper middle class children SHOULD NOT feel guilt over having money
Being aware of privilege and using your privilege to help others IS NOT a guilt trip
Constantly feeling guilty helps no one
Billionaires, however, should feel guilty over hoarding wealth.
Upper middle class is NOT rich
Black Lives Matter
Trans rights are human rights
My uncle was one of the top surgeons in the country. He was upper middle class definitely. When he got cancer, his insurance didn’t cover all the treatments he would need and after 5 years he drained his savings on cancer treatments (while still working most of that time) and eventually died because he couldn’t afford the expensive treatments that might have saved him.
If you are upper middle class and you get sick, it will likely bankrupt your family. It’s fucked.
For all of the idiots in the notes ^
Honest to god - even if you make 6 figures a year? you're closer to poverty than true wealth. Check your shit and remember who your real allies and enemies are guys.
A 6 figure income is a lot right? That’s say: 223,000 dollars a year Which is 112 dollars an hour. Most people would consider that upper middle class. That’s enough money to have a nice house, go on fun vacations. That’s slight more than the average doctor makes.
223,000 dollars is what Jeff Bezo makes in a minute
the well-off and the rich are not the same.Â
Of course, the rub is not convincing the lower class that the middle class is an ally. It is in convincing the middle class that they have far more in common with the poor they often shun than with the ultra rich they often idolize.
Exactly. It’s possible to acknowledge that the upper middle class is not the same as the 1% while also recognizing that the majority of the upper middle class shows more solidarity to the 1% they’re not part of than to the working class they view as beneath them.
The complacence of the upper middle class and their willingness to stomp on the backs of the working class in order to get more privilege for themselves makes them one of the most formidable hurdles in the path of progress. Malcolm X and MLK explained this decades ago, yet somehow there’s still this connotation of the white liberal or moderate as this bastion of uninformed innocent goodwill instead of a class traitor.
"There is no ethical consumption under capitalism" is a powerful insight that should open up discussion of a problem, and it's depressing to see it appropriated as a cynical excuse to end discussion of solutions.
Solutions, and more often than not, even just small improvements. Of course there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but revolutionary praxis have to start somewhere. Does the fact that you live under capitalism exempt you from trying to live a more ethical life, within the limits of the oppressive sytstem you exist in? We can’t just wait for the revolution - it has to start with us.
