AND SO THE ADVENTURE BEGINS; a wendy d mix for dreamers
“Without a failure that bruised your heart, art, and every start; what else would remind you that underneath this golden skin ‘strong’ runs in your veins” -Noor Unnahar

SIDE B - I SAW THAT
i. your day will come | son lux
“from deep inside you, your day will come”
this was a hard time in wendy’s life. she had been pressured to pursue a career that she wasn’t found of, and was told that writing would get her no where. after hearing those words, she ran to her room and cried. she was upset at her parents and at heself; she thought that they should’ve been supportive of her, instead of shutting her idea down. she had lost hope with her writing, but continued to do so with the help of her brothers. she decided to get back up in hopes that her day would come to show her parents what she was capable of.
ii. youth | troye sivan
“cause we get no time for getting old / before our bodies turn to stones / cross your fingers, here we go”
this song had a special place in wendy’s heart. back in london, she had met a boy named peter, and she knew that he was different the second that she bumped into him at school. as the year went by, they got to know each other and eventually started to date. peter had decided to surpise her by taking her out to an open field late at night to see the stars and fireflies. wendy knew that her parents wouldn’t have let her go, so peter insisted that she sneaked out, and she did. at that moment, she knew that whatever she was dealing with didn’t matter and that peter gave her a sense of what it was like to be a kid again without any worries. he had a child-like personality, and it intrigued her.
iii. venus | sleeping at last
“at first i thought you were a constellation / i convinced myself that i would never find you / when suddenly i saw you”
this song serves multiple purposes for wendy. it’s stuck by her ever since she started writing, and it reminded her of when she first met peter. a lot of her stories were written because of this song. she would lock herself in her room and listen to it on repeat as she wrote and thought up of ideas. it gave her a sense of adventure, and she longed for that. she wanted to go and explore new places and engage in different cultures, but all she could do was write about them in hopes of it becoming a reality. wendy had a love for stars and the planets, and meeting someone as unique as peter made her want to know more. peter and wendy were like two puzzle pieces that were meant to fit and belong, and the whole school could see that. wendy had terrible experiences with past boys, but she had a weird feeling inside that this wasn’t going to be like any of her past relationships, and that excited her.
iv. warrior daughter | wildwood kin
“ride ahead; fight for what’s yours / so take your sword; protector of them all”
wendy has always been passionate about writing/storytelling; her brothers had loved her stories she would tell them at bedtime, but her parents seemed to think just the opposite. despite the countless fights that she would have, she wouldn’t stop writing to fulfill a task that her parents didn’t get the chance to do. she wanted to make her own choices and have her parents support her along the way, but that was never the case. she stuck up for her beliefs and what she thought was right for her, even if that meant doing something that her parents disregarded. because of this song, wendy has been able to stand up for herself, no matter the situation, and be able to put herself first.
v. i’d love to change the world | jetta
“i’d love to change the world / but i don’t know what to do”
whenever wendy needs a song to help bring her confidence back, this does the job. she loves how intense the instrumentals are throughout the song, and they fuel her in so many ways. this songs reminds her that she can do anything that she puts her mind to, and no matter what people say, she can change the world. wendy knows deep inside that she’s special and unique, and everyday, she’s slowly started to figure out who she truly is in order for her to change the world to the best of her ability.
“It must have been lovely to live there!” Wendy said as she smiled. She didn’t want to bore him with her talk about travel and her love for new adventures, so she just kept quiet for now. “Haha, well Lumi it is! And you are very welcome, the pleasure is all mine!” She liked how charming and mysterious he was, and it intrigued her. Wendy covered her face and laughed at his gesture. “Oh yes, I believe that you would be in for a lot of trouble.” Wendy snapped back to reality, “But hey, if you need someone to show you around, I would be more than happy to do so!” She said as she gave a warm smile.
“Well, it definitely wasn’t boring,” he replied, thinking back to the many hijinks he had gotten up to back home. Yeah, boring was surprisingly not how he would describe what he got up to at that boarding school or his later apartments. Hard to be bored when your dad was winning awards in Hollywood. “Oh dear. Well, I guess that’s what I get for finally coming to California, huh? Don’t visit dad here for years and suddenly everyone is so pretty…Ah, and I would like that! Exploring is more fun with someone else!”
Wendy smiled as she motioned for him to follow, “Hollywood huh? I’ve never been before, but we have a lot of ground to cover, so lets get this show on the road!” She started talking about everything that astra had to offer, hoping that her so called ‘tour’ wasn’t a bust. “Is there anything in specific that you would like to see, Lumi?”
Wendy smiled at his comment, “Oh my, welcome to Astra! With all of the french that you’re speaking, I’m guessing that you are from France?” she said as she started humming ‘La Marseillaise’. She had been to France a few times and each trip had brought a new adventure and sense of magic to the city, making her want to go back and never leave. Wendy’s checks suddenly started to turn a bright pink. Embarassed, she gave a small smile and looked down. “Laurent Lumiere huh? Do you mind if I call you Lumi for short? You have a pretty handsome name yourself!” She gave a small smile and giggled at his compliment, “I mean, everyones pretty in their own way, but I guess you could say that” she said as she winked at him.
“Ah, yes, originally. It’s definitely my first language.” He grinned easily, and looked around again, turning his attention back to her as soon as she turned pink. That only made him grin wider, as his compliment had been noticed and worked. He loved it when even the smallest of compliments got such a reaction. “Lumi is perfect! And thank you, mademoiselle, it means a lot.” Call him a drama king, but he added in a little bow as well. “Well! If everyone here is so beautiful, I may be in a lot of trouble!”

Wendy had been taking walks around town for inspiration. She was determined to write a story that would hopefully be published; this was her dream and nothing could get in her way, except for when she ran into someone. “Oh gosh, I am so sorry, I can be clumsy at times!” The last thing she wanted to do was make a bad first impression. Wendy brushed the situation out off her mind and stuck her hand out with a warm smile, “I’m guessing that you’re new here! My name is Wendy, it’s a pleasure to meet you! And you are??”
He gave the girl a smile, and very happily shook her hand. “Bonjour! And I am! Just got in today, really.” It hadn’t been that hard of a move, he’d had people bring in the things he hadn’t already had with him. “Ah, Wendy. A lovely name, mademoiselle. I am Laurent Lumiere, you can call me by either! Is everyone here as pretty as you are?”
Wendy smiled at his comment, “Oh my, welcome to Astra! With all of the french that you’re speaking, I’m guessing that you are from France?” she said as she started humming ‘La Marseillaise’. It had been 2 months since Wendy moved to America and joined Astra and she needed to do something fun. She had forced herself to stay in her rom for a few days and work on her writing, and after a few sleepness nights of non-stop writing, she needed to take a break. As she walked out into the lobby, she saw a box of random supplies and costumes. Curious, she decided to grab a boa and some sparly gloves and have an impromtu fashion show. She had always wanted to be a model, but she felt like she wasn’t pretty enough to do it. As she put the last glove on, Single Ladies by Beyonce started to play over the speakers and she couldn’t resist. She started walking with the beat of the usic, making her hips sway and making funny faces as she did them. Wendy stopped and flipped her hair in a sassy way, hoping that the invisible audience were impressed.
She heard someone behind her clear their throats and she instantly blushed and turned around to face her doom. She didn’t mean to bother anyone, she was just having a good time. Embarassed, she chuckled as she saw who it was, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. It was a weird and impuslive decision that I randomly made.” She looked down at her feet, hoping that she didn’t cause any trouble. But deep inside, she was glad that she did it.
Ella couldn’t resist going up to Wendy as she danced. It looked so fun and she almost joined in, but she didn’t really know the song. So instead she just giggles and before she knows it, Wendy is looking at her. “Don’t be sorry! That was amazing. Is that one of your favorite songs?” As for Wendy’s get up she wanted to dawn a feather boa herself, but she didn’t want to look too silly. She didn’t want Wendy to think she was too odd.
“Is that a sparkly glove? Do you secretly dress like this a lot?”
Wendy laughed and sighed with relief. She was glad to see Ella amd that she was the one that had to witness her inner-child coming out. “Thank you so much Darling! I’ve never heard of this sing until now actually, it was a funky beat that I can’t resist dancing to!” she said she did a quick dance move in hopes of getting her point across. Wendy quickly walked to the box and grabbed a crown and placed it on Ella’s head, “There! Now you look like a princess!” She said she pretended to bow down, “I normally don’t dress like this, but my brothers have taught me a thing or too about playing dress up! I guess it was my inner-child being released!” She said as she laughed at the thought.
He had just arrived at the Constellation Compound, and was feeling no jetlag. He had taken it upon himself to be in America a week before he was due anyway, just so that he wouldn’t even be close to jetlagged, and have time for sight seeing besides. He liked San Francisco, and he liked Sacramento too! He just didn’t like the fact that he had just ran into someone. “Excusez-moi!”

“excuse me, excuse me!” lilo chased after the stranger. a frantic plea leaving her lips as she ran after them in hope of them maybe knowing something about the whereabouts of scrump. “have you happened to see a little green doll anywhere? she has a pink bow, buttons for eyes, and the friendliest smile?” the girl was close to crying, scared by the thought of not being able to find her ‘oldest friend’ and angry at herself for not realizing she’d left scrump behind somewhere.
Wendy had gotten back from a nice day out on the trails. She had a long day and needed to clear her mind, and the fresh air did the just the trick. Wendy had decided to head to the cafe and grab something to eat. She was famished, and her stomach agreed with her. As she was paying for her snack, she heard a small voice call out for help. Wendy turned around quickly and smiled to see a smaller girl who looked like she needed help. “Hey, I’m Wendy! A green doll? I’m afraid that I haven’t seen one around here, but I can help you look if you would like! I would be so upset if I lost this necklace my brothers made for me.” She smiled as she looked down at her necklace, she would flip out if it were gone, and she didn’t want her to have a bad first day here at Astra. “I didnt catch your name darling, what is it?”
Wendy let out a breath as she realized that it was getting late, “Oh gosh, I hope not!!” She had been looking forward to going on the ride ever since she arrived at the carnival, and nothing was going to stop her from riding it. After 5 minutes of speed walking towards the ride, she sighed in relief to see that it was still open, “Oh thank god, if it was closed, I have no idea what I would’ve done!!” she said as she followed the line all the way to the front. There were still people in front of them, but she took this chance to talk with him, “So what all have you done here at the carnival?”
“You know, I don’t think these things close until around midnight…” he said, more to himself than Wendy. No need to go and ruin things. “Well, if it was closed tonight, I would have come back with you tomorrow,” he said sincerely. But he was glad that he was getting to go, seeing as the coaster was definitely on his to do list. “Uh…I learned funnel cake is my new favorite thing and that people who work here don’t like it when you win all their prizes.”
Wendy laughed as she heard the small comment he said, “Well if it doesn’t close until midnight, then we have to go on it as many times as we can!!” she said as she went through the entrance. She was very excited to go on the rollercoaster, even if she was afriad of the drops, she still went on regardless. “What are funnel cakes? I’ve only tried the churros, but I still need to try everything else,” Wendy said as her stomach rumbled in agreement, “Haha I mean isn’t that the point of having prizes? There aren’t any rules saying how many prizes you can win!” Wendy knew that could win every prize in this carnival if he really wanted to.
Wendy had been looking forward to attending the carnival! She had been over the moon excited since the day that she heard about it. There weren’t many carnivals back in London, but she knew that this was going to be an event that she was never going to forget. She arrived to carnival a few hours later than everyone else. As much as she would’ve liked to be one of the first, it was just as fun to be one of the last. The moment that she walked into the carnival, she was greeted with various colors of light and many wonderful smells of food. A grin formed on her face the second that she saw everything, and she knew that she had to do everything that this carnival had to offer. As Wendy walked around, she noticed a cute photobooth area, and she knew that she needed to document this event by taking some obligatory pictures.
After 20 minutes of taking pictures with every kind of pose she could think of, she decided that it was finally time to go on a ride. It was getting late and the sun had started to set, which was Wendy’s favorite time of the day. She walked over to one of the rollercoasters with a churro in hand, and decided to wait in line. She felt a small tap on her shoulder, and she quickly turned around. “Oh my goodness, don’t scare me like that again!” Wendy said as she chuckled to herself, “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
In all honesty, Merida wasn’t exactly ꜰᴀᴢᴇᴅ about this whole carnival schtick. She was still coping with the fact that she wasn’t freezing any of her body parts off, and now she was supposed to ᴄᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀᴛᴇ the blooming of some flowers and the foretaste of the brutal American ʜᴇᴀᴛ ?No thank you. But somehow the ginger still found her way to the carnival ground, trying to convince herself that she wasn’t in ᴀᴡᴇ as she stared at the Ferris wheel and a wave of nostalgia hit Merida hard as she heard the typical carnival ᴛᴏᴏᴛʟɪɴɢ . It reminded her of her childhood, when everything wasn’t as shitty as it was now. She kind of missed the ᴍᴀɢɪᴄ that everything used to have when Merida was a child.
While lazily strolling around the ground, she couldn’t deny the little ᴀᴘᴘᴇᴛɪᴛᴇ she had, yet not sure what might satisfy it. But as she saw a woman with a churro in her hand, Merida was absolutely certain, that she wanted one too. ( But where could she get one? ) Without thinking too much, the redhead tapped the woman on the shoulder, her lips parted to straight out ask her about the churro and it surprised her, as the dark haired woman claimed to ᴋɴᴏᴡ Merida. ( Was she mixing the ginger up with someone else? ) Probably.
Wendy had been enjoying her churro, they didn’t have them in London, but she knew that everyone back home needed to try them. She had been waiting in line for ten minutes and she could tell the wait wasn’t going to be short. As she was about to take a bite of her churro, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She jumped as she turned around and noticed that it was Merida. She had seen her talk to a few of the guys at Astra, but she hadn’t talked to Merida herself. “Oh I’m so sorry, we haven’t officially met! I’m Wendy,” she said as she gave a small smile, “You need to try these churros!! They’re soo good!” she said as she kept talking about them. “Do you want me to show you where they are? You’d be missing out on so much if you don’t try them!!”
Wendy had been taking pictures of the pretty lights and views that the carnival had to offer. For this being her first carnival in America, she was blown away and in awe. She had been excited to go ever since it was announced, and it blew her expectations. Wendy noticed a man with cotton candy, “oh how cotton candy reminds me of the clouds from neverland,” she said to herself as she smiled at the thought. Looking nearby, she noticed that there were tea cups and even though she would puke 50% of the time, she still loved it. Wendy decided that she was going to offer this guy the oppourtunity to go on with her. “Hey, you up for riding the tea cups? There aren’t that many people who are willing to go on it.” She said she gave a small smile.
The girl who had spoken to him was a new one, but her accent was familiar. London, he’d been there enough to be certain. Good to see another Brit. He smiled at her, slightly amused. He didn’t think people just offered if they hadn’t known each other. “Sure,” he said, ripping off another piece of his fluffy treat. “But. I should know your name first so I won’t keep thinking of you as Miss London. I’m Madden, you are?”
Wendy blushed in shame, she knew better and should’ve introduced herself before she invited him to go on the tea cups. “I’m so sorry I should’ve introduced myself first, I’m Wendy Darling!!” she gave a small smile hoping that it would cover her mistake. “It’s nice to meet you, Madden! I guess we should head towards the ride then,” she said awkwardly as she started walking.
Wendy had been walking around and taking the scenery in. She had never seen carnivals this grand before, and she knew that she had to go the moment it was announced. She noticed that one of the girls was walking alone, when she suddenly ran up to her. Wendy have her a small reassuring smile, “Oh yes!! I’ve never seen anything like this before and I’m loving every second of it! I seemed to noticed that you came here by yourself! If you want, I don’t mind if you want to tag along with me!” Wendy smiled as she motioned for Ariel to follow her towards the churro stand.
Ariel’s face immediately brightened when she saw Wendy’s face, making the girl clap her hands excitedly. Really? I love carnivals! They’re so much fun. Granted, it had been a while since she had actually been to one; but there was still the feeling of excitement in the air every moment she was here — which made her sound a little overexcited, sure; but she was someone that liked to have as much fun as she possibly could. She nodded upon hearing Wendy’s proposal, chuckling to herself. Really? I’d love to. Thanks! As she followed the girl towards the churro stand, she could feel her stomach grumbling — just the smell of food being freshly made was enough to get her hungry again.
Wendy smiled at her acceptance to hang out with her, “No problem Ariel! Lets go hit that churro stand!” she said as she started walking back to where she came from. Five minutes had passed, and they had finally made it to the food stand! Wendy motioned for her to go first, since she already had a churro, and waitied for her to get hers. Wendy couldn’t help but smile as she saw Ariel walk back towards her with a big grin on her face, “You ready to try it?!” she said as she waited for her to take a bite of the best carnival snack in the world.
She was shocked at his response. Wendy had expected him to throw a fit and yell at her to go somewhere else, but this ‘new tate’ was already a lot better than the old tate, and she couldn’t be more happy for him. She blushed a tiny bit as he offered her the bear, she didn’t want to be rude, so she gladly accepted the teddy bear. “Thanks Tate, I appreciate it, and you’re forgiven! I was being an ass myself,” Wendy said as she playfully punched his arm. She had been looking forward to going on a ride the whole day, but she was distracted with the various foods. “Well I guess we should be on our way before it closes!” she said as she started to walk with a skip to her step towards the ride.
He was relieved when she took the bear. He had been nervous that she was still angry at him for being a brat. He definitely would have, so it was good that Wendy was better than him. “No problem,” he said as she punched his arm. At that, he couldn’t help but laugh, even though it had been meant as a joke. People punching him at all was always funny. “Does it close soon?” he thought to ask as he followed her, hoping the line wouldn’t be too long.
Ella smiles. “I’m sorry!! I just saw you passing by and I had to catch you before you disappeared. It’s very fast-paced here!” Ella was holding a slushie in her hand (her new addiction) and a smile was permanently attached to her face. There was nothing more fun than a carnival! “How are those churros? They look so good but I didn’t want to eat too much yet! There are so many rides and I have the frailest stomach. What have you been up to?”
Wendy laughed as she saw Ella, “Aw no, you don’t have to apologize! It’s nice seeing you here!” she said she looked to down see that Ella had a slushie. She reminded herself that she needed to try one of those! Wendy looked down as she took another bite of her churro, “Why of course it is! It’s my first time trying them and they’re so good! I could eat 100 of these! My stomach has a mind of its own haha, I just have to go on rides and hope that I don’t puke!” She laughed as she threw away the wrapper. “I just got here a few minutes ago, but so far I’ve taken pictures of the carnival, went to photo booth and got a churro! So far, this carnival is amazing!! What about you?!” Wendy said with excitement on her face.
This carnival was…well, it was something. Loud and bright and weirdly pretty, and Madden hadn’t even took anything. He was just walking around with a bag of candy floss (or, well…it was cotton candy here). His usual dazed look was on his face, and a smile tugged the side of his mouth. Carnivals were his kind of place. Oh! Tea cups!
