Just in case any of my reblogs, replies or posts need some context... this bottle of wine would have gone bad and it's been a week. Not an especially exhausting one, but still, it's been a week filled with work drama (so many people, so many egos, so many emotions...) and loads of responsibilities I've been trying to avoid (more or less successfully).

Plus, It's been a while since I've actually posted something on here. Once you turn 40 you figure (me at last) you're too old for all of this... well, no. That's total bullshit actually. It's in the same category as people telling you you'll figure everything out eventually. No, you do not. I'm not expecting to get to the age of Methusalem, so I highly doubt I'll figure everything out eventually. I'll have to deal with not knowing or understanding everything. Honestly, I think I'd have an easier time doing this if I'd been told in the last 40 years that not know stuff and not having all of your shit together is actually okay and what all adults have to deal with. We/they are all faking it and anyone telling you this is not the case... well, give me 2 hours of conversation with them. People are damn good at ignoring, repressing and denying shit, but in the end we're all stuck somewhere. I'm stuck between 17, 24, 35 and well today. It's okay, it's not fine, but that's reality. Heck not even the smartes people got all their stuff together and know all the answers.

Well, I digress.

All I wanted to say is how I'm in a talkative mood right in this moment and stuff is still just stuff, complicated, exhausting and somehow funny. So here's to tumblr, here's to being yourself, and here's to pride month.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

..or at 3 am after promising oneself to stop writing at midnight to get a reasonable amount of sleep before another 10hour day, but inspiration hit and finally it all flowed, so instead they stayed up until 4 am to post it and ran the next day on loads of coffee, energy drinks and the best boost of all, the likes and comments on their 12.000 word one-shot
