Whumpers who casually manhandle the whumpees, as if doing so is completely natural. They don't even think twice about it. Whumpee is trying to crawl away? Oh, just grab them by the ankle and pull them back. Whumpee's head is pointed in a suspicious direction, as if looking for an escape? Pull them by the hair so their eyes are forced away. Trying to yell for help? Put them in a chokehold, without so much as a change in expression.
Just little things that reinforce the power dynamics and show how helpless Whumpee truly is. For them, it's Hell on Earth. For Whumper, it's Tuesday.
Especially if there are other people in the room. Whumper's having a casual conversation while dragging whumpee around. Barely paying attention as they push whumpee down to their knees, which joking with friends.
exhausted leader whumpee leaning their forehead against the wall, taking deep and unsteady breaths to force away the dizziness. feverish but leading regardless, directing their team with quiet orders. a pause between phrases to gasp in another breath, leaving them feeling more faint than before. but their team needs them. they can rest once everyone is safe, but for now, they close their eyes to focus, steady their trembling fingers, and lead their family to safety.
caretaker developing romantic/sexual feelings for whumpee and feeling extremely guilty because whumpee is recovering from awful and traumatizing shit, caretaker has no right to fall in love in this situation. extra cookie points when the shit involves sexual trauma, caretaker would rather die than be feeling anything similar to attraction.
Okay but also imagine whumpee realizing and then feeling like caretaker is holding back because they're "damsged" and clearly, caretaker doesn't want involved in that.
love it when character has no control over what is happening to them and starts intentionally dissociating as hard as they can to get away from it. love it when they fail and get yanked back into their body by pain or whumper.
whumpees who gain weight during their captivity.. especially with a carewhumper, someone who insists they’re “doing what’s best for them.”
bonus points if they’re eating better than they ever did before they were taken. better meals, richer food, maybe even little “treats” as rewards for compliance. their body gets softer and healthier while the rest of their life falls apart.
it really adds that awful layer of guilt, that feeling that they should be doing worse. they should be shaking, starved, visibly hurt.. but they just look fine. maybe even better than before.

- Whumpee shaking from a fever, curled up and trying to stay warm. Maybe they're on the floor, maybe in a basement, but they weren't given a blanket or anything soft to sleep with, and they're miserable.
- Whumpee losing their voice and being unable to answer whumper when they ask a question. Whumper getting mad, or mocking them for it, demanding an answer as they try to make more sound than a rasp or a wheeze escape.
- Whumper using whumpee's sickness to manipulate them. If they behave, they'll get their medicine. Or maybe something more subtle, becoming more doting and sweet and caring for whumpee to make them lower their guard.
- Whumper being extra cruel to whumpee, angry that they'd be so weak as to get sick.

Whumpee spent a long time in captivity, and thinks they have a pretty good idea of what torture is. Torture is things that leave them physically in agony, or miserable and exhausted.
But humiliation? Or "gentle" sexual abuse / noncon?

when a villain gets redeemed and not only refuses to acknowledge that anything bad happened to them but constantly repeats that even it it did they'd deserve it because they're Terrible and Evil and Bad. and they make sad pathetic angry eyes at everyone.
