Can finally share this. Been working on it for *months* because I was really going for screen accuracy with the machine itself. Also? First attempt at painting a photo-realistic (ish) portrait of someone specific.

These were 2 of the best references from the movie. Not a ton of high res images. BUT! When I checked Replica Prop Forum to see if anyone had something I could use... I struck gold.

Dude made a full-size, fully functional, screen accurate cabinet and documented the whole thing. Pics at every step.

Something I really don't like about adaptations of Norse mythology is that even outside of Marvel's sphere of influence, Loki is consistently portrayed as physically weak/an unskilled fighter who lacks muscle and relies solely on trickery and ranged magical spells when in the original mythology, he:

Is a god

Is a jötunn

Is a viking god who hangs out with other vikings and does viking things like crusades and warfare

Has previously engaged in extreme acts of violence (mauling Fimafeng, bludgeoning an otter-dverg with a rock, ripping off a troll's leg twice in Loka Táttur without any mention of a weapon) and will continue to do so until the day he dies (the battle of Ragnarök)

Is fated to die in battle against Heimdall, who also dies, which implies that the two are equal in strength, or that at the very least, Loki knows his way around a battlefield

Causes earthquakes every time he writhes in pain

Rarely uses magic outside of shapeshifting and is very unlikely to Eldritch Blast his way out of a situation

Gave birth to a horse

i truly commend and admire marisha ray to no end because someone with less confidence or thinner skin (probably myself included) would've shied away from these big character choices after the way keyleth was treated but following keyleth up with beau and then LAUDNA is a true feat. she has never once backed down or diluted herself to be more palatable or even to just avoid catching the brunt of completely misplaced and blind hate from many "fans" + baffling misinterpretations of her actions. sometimes i get really upset about how some viewers talk about her choices and characters and then i just have to remember that she literally doesn't give a single fuck and neither should i.

this was a good panel and I'm glad I watched it specifically because Taliesin deservedly has a reputation for coming up with fairly philosophical concepts behind his D&D characters, but also on another level he is just like "what if there were just wretched guy with so many things wrong with them. fucked up, right?" and it nearly always slaps
