shoutout to the game Cassette Beasts for including romanceable partner characters, but not tying any in-game benefit to said romance...that's probably the most healthy way to present romantic love that a video game could hope for tbh
there are benefits to maxing out a partner's affinity, but platonic relationships also meet that criteria, which is not only a great outlook on platonic love in general, but it also means that, if you choose not to romance anyone, you're not "missing out" in any way
