Americans are so competitive. Even with people that they like. We ought to start a propaganda campaign like âSweden has a higher voter turnout rate than us! Are you going to let them win?â
âBritain has better class mobility than us and they literally have a queen! Are you gonna let some corporations stop us from being wealthier than the British, you pussy? Vote for politicians that put higher taxes on the rich and we can beat them!â
âThe United States has the worst healthcare of anywhere in the world! Are you gonna just stand by and let that happen? Vote for universal healthcare! Make us #1!â
And then put like some explosions and patriotic music in the background. Get some super famous football players to yell it at the screen. People will listen then. Get a skinny white lady in a stars and stripes bikini holding a big gun to sensually say it to the camera. Slowly create a culture where being a conservative makes you a weenie.
YASSSS if this is the only way to get this country on the path to a better future!!
The first Protesting Princess series was inspired by the Women's March of 2017. This series will always mean a lot to me for so many reasons. As the second series completes here for #womensmarch #2020 it reminds me that so much can change but the need for heroines will always remain!
And here, the completed second series released today in honor of the #2020 #womensmarch featuring 3D princesses (or nearly princesses)
I love the new, strong, motivated, powerful women of Disney found in this series. Whether they be dreamers or voyagers or queens or still just finding themselves they are so completely women and so completely powerful. #dreambigprincess
All of them are available on my society6.com/amandaallenniday as I uploaded them this morning. Though sometimes the website takes a day to upload...
Thanks for sticking it out with me! I love this series and will be back for more đđđ
Someone twisted this Jewish familyâs menorah into the shape of a swastika
Naomi Ellis and her her husband Seth spent Friday morning â the morning after the sixth night of Hanukkah â trying to explain to their three young sons why someone had vandalized the menorah the family had put out on their yard by twisting the metal pieces into the shape of a swastika.
The Ellis family had only built the 7-foot-tall menorah on the front lawn of their home in Chandler, Arizona, because their sons, ages 5, 7 and 9, had asked their parents if the family could decorate their home like the neighbors did for Christmas, the Washington Post reported. Read more.
The Ellis family had only built the 7-foot-tall menorah⊠because their sons, ages 5, 7 and 9, had asked their parents if the family could decorate their home like the neighbors did for Christmas. This is America in the 21st century.  Please reblog, even if youâre not Jewish.  Especially if youâre not Jewish.  Spread awareness and let your Jewish followers know that weâre not alone.
[Image: Tweet by Emily Mullin (@EmilyLMullin) and tweet by Isobelle Winter (@IsobelleWinter), both about the dangers of Facebookâs new preventative health screening tool. Images have been modified for visual ease but information has not been changed.]
Something to know about Facebookâs new âscreening tool,â and advice/info that can most certainly be used outside of this specific situation.
For spoonies, the biggest deal is how this data, if leaked, could affect you in professional and insurance spheres.
Hereâs Emilyâs full thread, which discusses the details of the tool, and hereâs Isobelleâs full thread, which extrapolates on specific dangers.
In the end? Itâs another data grab. Data is worth money; donât give yours away, especially not to Facebook.
PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST this shit is scary.
Take care of yourself. And donât trust strangers easilyâ it might be lethal! Being a girl is scary in so many ways. Yeah it can happen to men, but cmon they see females as an easier target.
I agree on this corrective asswhoopin
If you see this, donât just sneakily tell the woman or the bartender. Shout for everyone to hear âHey, you just put something in that drink!â While pointing at the person.Â
If a predator misses target number one theyâll just go for target 2. If you shame them out of the bar theyâll never come back.
And there is a solid chance of a collective asswhoopin, or an actual arrest for attempted rape.
When in doubt, make the biggest scene you can.
guys please keep Puerto Rico in your thoughts, we have been having earthquakes for the past 10 days and this last one was a 6.6
electricity is out everywhere, people are scared, weâre still recovering from hurricane maria and houses have collapsed. please stay tuned, i will try to keep updated as long as my battery holds out.
some images of the damage are starting to surface. please stay tuned for any ways of helping us.
UPDATE: another 6.0 earthquake just hit.
a little update: the quakes havenât stopped. weâve had over 21 registered today, but there have been more; its just that they are too many to keep accurate track of. weâre still without power and signal is wonky. my anxiety is through the roof and i canât cope, and i know im not the only one. please donate if you can to the hispanic federation: https://www.hispanicfederationunidos.org/donate-now-earthquake-emergency
iâll post more links for donation as i find more; please keep us in your thoughts.
Donate to Our Earthquake Response
an update! we still dont have power and as of today there have been around 920 registered earthquakes since december 28. thankfully, there werent any significant tremors last night for the first time in three nights! however the possibility of another big earthquake or an even bigger one is still very realâ and we are living in fear. people had to sleep outside their houses last night, in the cold and with no where to go. please, donate if you can. if not, iâm begging you to spread the word.
Why isnt thus being covered in the news!!
Do ur highschool sins stay with u for the rest of your life
Because I just had the worst experience I've ever had on a public bus
I didnt take my meds with food this morning and I had to run to the bus stop but I'm terribly out of shape. As soon as I got on the bus I started throwing up, but I didn't want anyone to know and I just. Held it in my hand. And my mixture of coffee, saliva and stomach acid dripped and got on my pants and my white shirt. And I didnt know what to do so I just took a sock out of my swim bag and mopped it up. I'm gonna cry I'm in the nurses office rn and my moms bringing me clothes will this ever not haunt me
@orangedragons
I want to say "you will completely forget about this" but in my personal opinion you may bury it in your subconscious and it will randomly poke its stupid head out like a mandrake baby, screeching for attention.
The one positive is with its mind splitting cry, it will suddenly wipe all the minuscule stressors that have built up in your mind. You will have a moment of clarity that "hey...that paper I have to write..those dishes that need to be washed..arent that daunting compared to that horrendous day that absolutely no one realizes had happened other than me" (I'm serious, no one else noticed what happened cuz they are in thier own crisis I'm sure, even though it felt like a floodlight was on you)
Dont forget, everyone has these moments.

Why do artists refuse to use references why why why.
Itâs not a contest to see who can get by without them. Itâs not cheating to look at a thing in order to know what the thing looks like.
You donât get stronger or better by pretending. Nobody is impressed by the awkward whatever-it-is you just drew. Use references.
I donât think a lot of people know that itâs not cheating. I recall seeing so many piece of art called out because they referenced a pose, someone recognized it, and then proceeded to shame them for it. Thereâs this belief, both by creators and the audience, that artists should just be able to translate the ideas from their head to paper, and if they donât, itâs plagiarism, or not true originality (spoiler alert: thereâs no such thing).
I myself didnât start using references until very recently, because even I was under the impression that it was frowned upon. And that belief has seriously crippled and stalled my ability to improve as an artist.
As a restarting artist, I can confirm. I just never knew. I thought you were just supposed to know how to draw the body correctly and if you didnât you had no talent.
(( I am going to say this again, loud and clear for everyone:
USING REFERENCES FOR ART IS NOT âCHEATINGâ!!!
If you can draw/paint without references, great! But if you need to use them, and feel that your art can be bettered by using references, please, use them! This is one of the biggest tips I can give to artists, is USE REFERENCES!Â
Anyone who would dare to attack someone for using references after ârecognizing a poseâ is a dipshit, who doesnât know a thing about art.
Do you know who else used references for their art?
Norman Rockwell
Alphonse Mucha
Gustav Klimt
Toulouse Lautrec
Vincent Van Gogh
Paul Gauguin
Edgar Degas
Gil Elvgren
Frida Kahlo
Pablo Picasso
Disney Studios
And thousands of others! So, artists! Go forth, and use references!!! ))
What do you think artists do when they ask someone to stand infron of them for 6 hours and then they draw this person. Do they cheat? Or when they place a still life and then paint it, cheating again? LOL
#literally one of the biggest fears I have #is for some douchefuck to dig out my reference #and point at it and say that Iâm not a real artist #I donât want you to dig out my references to prove that I didnât make up a realistic picture out of fucking thin air #thatâs not how art works #but especially on this site it happens CONSTANTLY #itâs so fucking scary #when people whoâve never touched a pen in their lives think theyâre qualified to judge you #and ârevealâ how youâve âscammedâ people
Soooo. I made this post originally on my personal blog (Iâm eliciaforever), and it was nothing more than a little rant about a specific incident that I deleted after five minutes. But before I could delete it, it took the hell off on me, and now it has all these notes. And LOTS OF AMAZING INPUT.
And I just wanted to add in response to the above tags in particular, that shaming people for using references is something that happens to so many of us SO OFTEN. It doesnât matter how skilled you are. People think art is supposed to be magical or whatever, and anything else is a crime. The reality of course is that art is a thousand times more deliberate than a lot of people think it is.
So yeah. Good info to pass along. Use references, kids. <3
Reblogging because I think itâs important especially for young artists to gain the confidence to use references.
Seriously, references are esssential! Use them!
I use the fuck out of references because otherwise my stuff looks like HORSE SHIT
I needed this
As someone with multiple art degrees (I have a BFA and an MFA) NO art teacher would ever tell you NOT to use references. Itâs normal to cover your space with the images you need to look at while youâre figuring out your own stuff, or take pictures to reference later, or create mock-ups of what youâre doingâŠ
Guys, GUYS, artists are TRAINED to use references. USE THEM.
AMEN
@theonewhosins
Use refs, please please dont be afraid to âĄ
DEAR TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS BECOMING SEXUALLY ACTIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME:
1. DEMAND condom use 2. Hold your partners accountable for what happens in the bedroom. None of this âbaby I canât control myself around youâ or âI just wanted you so badâ bullshit. 3. Coercion is real and itâs very scary and hard to identify in the moment. Establish a dialogue with your partner. Be clear on what you both want. Be clear on what you donât want. Your boundaries should ALWAYS be respected. 4. Sex can be really emotionally and physically over-stimulating the first few times; donât be afraid or ashamed to ask your partner to slow down, take a break, or even stop. 5. Focus less on pleasing your partner and more on exploring your partner. Everyoneâs body is different and there are no âtricksâ to better sex. Chances are, if you psych yourself out worrying over how well youâre âperformingâ then nobodyâs going to have a good time. 6. Ask questions, offer suggestions. Despite what porn has probably taught you, talking during sex isnât weird or taboo. Your partner isnât a mind reader. They donât know what feels good to you. [Pro-tip, a looot of people without clitorises arenât fully aware of just HOW sensitive a clitoris is. They can be a little rough with them. Tell them to chill!!!!] 7. Your sex life is YOUR business. Donât ever feel ashamed of how many or how few sexual partners/experiences youâre having. Do what you want, touch the people who want to touch you back, forget the rest. 8. DONâT FAKE YOUR ORGASMS!! Donât fake your orgasms!! DONâTFAKEYOURORGAMS!! If your partner isnât getting you there, let them know! Tell them how!! 9. There is more to sex than orgasms. Sex is a really cool way to establish intimacy and trust, to have a fun time, to relieve stress, to explore a personâs body and bring them pleasure. Donât get me wrong, orgasms are really cool and good, but your sex life is going to be a lot better if it doesnât revolve around them. 10. LEARN ABOUT YOUR BODY!! This goes for everyone, but ESPECIALLY if you are a person in possession of a vulva, you have been discouraged and even actively kept from vital knowledge about your anatomy! Do some google searches, buy a human sexuality textbook, masturbate. 11. Virginity is a useless concept. Itâs completely okay if your virginity is something important to you and Iâm not trying to belittle that idea. Just, for the record, in the grand scheme of things itâs not a big deal. Literally nothing about you changes just because you bumped uglies with someone else.
This has been a public service announcement from your friendly internet poet.
Talking about sex when not being sexy is the best first step to having sex. Donât talk about it to turn on your partner, just discuss it casual. Talk about your thoughts and feelings, what you think you want, what scares you, what interests you, etc. Like anything you can think of. It makes the act easier and can help you establish boundaries before the act starts. Try doing it on a phone or over text so you know sex wonât start. Sometimes the distance helps you be honest.
i like how positive this post is and how it isnât gender specific <3 <3 <3
Some solid stuff here!
This is all useful for folks who are new to sex period or for folks like me who are trying to find new partners after a long dry spell. This is all useful!
stuff like this should be shared more, really important and I donât see it a lot
AND ALWAYS PEE AFTER SEX NO MATTER WHAT GENDER YOU ARE
Okay, Iâm sorry but I just feel so restless about the bushfires, I made a mini-comic. Maybe it will get a few more people to donate. I wish I could do more. Â Please see http://wires.org.au if you want to help. :(
Adult things arent NEARLY as complex as I thought they were growing up I just walked into bank of america and said im here to open a checking account and they said ok and opened me a checking account
If you have anxiety about being an adult, it may help to think of adult things as basically just doing a lot of quests.
Me: [googles âwhere do i get a passportâ] Me: [goes to that building] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: Third floor, room twelve. Me: [goes to that room] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: That desk over there. Me: [goes to that desk] Me: Where do I get a passport? Them: Fill out this form. Me: [thinking] Silver key opens the garden gate, in the garden is the red key, which opens the red door, thereâs a boy in the red house who tells you his dog is trapped in the old abandoned barn and can I please rescue himâŠ
being an adult is a serious of fetch quests and waiting in lines
Yessss!!!
The economic realities of Baby boomers versus MillennialsÂ
that comment has had me thinking for days⊠like im reblogging this shit a week later from my likes cus its the PERFECT analogyÂ
EX-FUCKING- ACTLY !!
All boomers see or say is "oh america won the Olympic vault in my generation" but the execution and complexity has grown immensely. This is true for everything school loans, house payments, amount of school work, etc. But they think that it's all still even between them and us. It's not. It's that simple.
The world has grown, expectations of what we as a generation needs to do has grown but the amount of material/money/ time for us to do it in has not.
How the fuck does Bill Nye expect this to happen? What do you want to do, force women to enroll in science courses, regardless of whether or not they want to do it? Just for the sake of having âenoughâ women? Why the fuck do these fractions matter so much? Itâs not like people are holding guns to our head and threatening to kill us if we become interested in science.
Maybe, just maybe, a lot of us DONâT FUCKING WANT to be scientists. Is that a crime?
Hi there, princess-munchkin. Female engineering student here.Â
Bill Nye is not saying that you HAVE to be a scientist, and you are right that no one is holding a gun to my head because I am interested in science, but let me tell you some of the struggles of being a woman in the STEM fields.Â
1) Because I am a woman, I am not expected these fields. I first fully realized this when I was in high school, on my robotics team. See, although my robotics team was about 50% female, most of the women were part of the âbusiness administrationâ side of things: finance, marketting, PR, membership, etc. Was this a problem? Absolutely not. But I was there to be an engineer, and specifically, to be the robot programmer. This was met with a lot of hesitation at first from some of the other students (all of whom happened to be male. This is not necessarily a bad thing.) You see, all of the robot programmers before me were guys. Computer programming is just a thing that guys do, or so they thought. Even after I had proved myself to the mentors on the team, many of the students still underestimated my abilities. There were rumors going around that I wouldnât have been able to program the robot at all if the lead software mentor wasnât there to help me. This was just flat-out false, but it wasnât until I won an award for the team that the other students actually saw my merit.Â
2) There is not a lot of encouragement for women to go into these fields. I first noticed this when I was in elementary school. I was always interested in math, science, you name it, but many of my teachers and family members pushed that to the side for a long time. When I asked for legos for christmas, I would get ballet slippers. In fact, for a long time, I was training to be a professional dancer. I loved to dance. I loved math more, but no one seemed to notice that about me. It wasnât until I had a long conversation with one particular teacher in high school that I decided to look into engineering. I had never even considered it as an option before, because no one decided to encourage me to pursue my interest in science. If it hadnât been for that teacher, I would probably not be at the school I am at right now.Â
3) For a long time, Engineering/Science/Math WAS a âboys onlyâ club. Let me tell you when some of the top technical schools and societies started letting women in:
RPI, The oldest tech school in the country, founded in 1824. Started admitting women in 1942 to âreplace men called to war.â Campus housing for women wasnât constructed until 1966.Â
Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honors Society - Founded in 1885. Started admitting women in 1968.
Caltech - Currently rated #3 in undergraduate engineering. Founded in 1891. Started admitting women in 1970.Â
Georgia Tech - Currently rated #5 in undergraduate engineering. Founded in 1885. Started admitting women in 1952.Â
Do you see the implications of this? Engineering has been a part of our society since around the late 1800s (in the case of RPI, since the 1820s), but women werenât even allowed in for the most part until the 1950s, regardless of their merit.Â
4) Because of the fact that it was a âboys onlyâ club for such a long time, there are not a lot of women engineers and scientists to look up to. When youâre reading your physics, chemistry, and math text books, the majority of those theories were came up with by men. It is true that much of our history was written by White Men, but this does not mean that the fact that there are few women scientists to look up does not matter.Â
So, as you can hopefully see, princess-munckin, or anyone else that shares the opinions of princess-munchkin, Bill Nye was not arguing that women that are not interested in STEM should go into those fields anyway. But he IS arguing against all of the systematic barriers set up against women who ARE interested in engineering and science. There are several women out there who are just as good as the boys at math and science, but will never pursue their interests because it just doesnât seem like an option. That was me for a long time. I am super grateful for the fact that I fought against that, and that I ended up where I am.Â
if you donât like science, fine. Donât be a scientist. But if one day you have a daughter and she shows interest in being a scientist, PLEASE encourage her. Because Bill Nye is right, there need to be more women scientists in the world.Â
