HOARD
I hoard, so what? Or horde, whichever, because they essentially mean the same thing. hoarding usually means keeping a large amount of something, and horde, typically, means a large amount of something (or some things). Ah, English grammar. Gotta love it. Anyway,...
I hoard. I confess this much. I've often thought about doing a vlog about my hoarding, because hoarders need representation too, and not just on a TV show that shames them. Not everything fits under an umbrella. Do I hoard because I'm lacking something else that's considered meaningful in my life? I don't know. I couldn't tell ya. Because, even once I find said meaningful thing, I might still hoard.
I'm the only person in my family that hoards. My relatives don't share my passion for collecting things. My mom even boarders on being a minimalist. She doesn't like clutter. She sees no need to keep things that aren't being used or that have a higher purpose than just to have. I can't tell you where my desire to hoard comes from, but I can take a couple guesses. Maybe it's due to never wanting to be in need of said things. Maybe it's because my collections give me a purpose in life, which, by the way, is for me and me alone to decide whatever that purpose should be. Whatever the reason, I'm comfortable with my hoarding.
I keep things organized. I've always had a talent of categorizing and then neatly displaying my things, as if I live in a high end department store. Not some place like Walmart, because Walmart has a tendency of not being as organized as they should be. In fact, when I'm at Walmart, I sometimes find myself organizing the sale's floor for them. Especially when it comes to clothes. I know it's Walmart, but there shouldn't be any excuses to keep a multi-billion dollar company a mess inside its walls. You can have a lot of stuff, but still keep it all organized. And, yes, I have seen episodes of Hoarders that show some people keeping very organized stacks of old newspapers. Maybe they don't need all those musty newspapers, but having them in tidy stacks is still better than mounds of stuff covering the whole floor.
There's always variables as to why people do the things they do. And if the things they do aren't causing them or anyone else actual harm, then the things they do is their business. Hoard on, my friends.
