The reason Lucifer (the show) means so much to me is because the underlying message of the entire series is that everyone, every single person, is deserving of love. And not just romantic love but platonic and familial love. No matter how unworthy or how evil you feel, no matter how much it feels like others don't understand, you can still find your own community full of people who accept you for everything you are. Everyone is worthy. After all, if the Devil can be redeemed, if the Devil can fall in love and be loved in return, anyone can.

I have lots of conflicting feelings about the final season of Lucifer, this is not what I wanted for Deckerstar, but the writers kind of won me over. I would change a lot about s6, but ultimately I loved the bittersweet ending. There's something beautiful and poetic about it, it comes full circle and I couldn't help crying.

Not to make this too serious, but this is another example imho of Sam being so caught up on his own daddy issues that he fails to recognize the real psychological damage John did to Dean. Paying lip service in the “I didn’t know how long you were cleaning up Dad’s messes” kinda way isn’t enough. Why might Dean be so seriously closeted, Sam? Making fun of someone for being closeted or having interests that you think they’re not being honest about rather than to just tell them that if they are in fact wanting to live a more open, true (to themselves) life that you support them is a dick move. It pretty much guarantees that it will be harder for Dean to come out (as bi or gay or…) when you’re on record turning his flailing baby steps towards openness as the foundation for a joke. It’s deeply intolerant and cruel, no matter what reputation Sam has for being the PC/sensitive/woke brother. He knows how uncomfortable those jokes make Dean (you can see it plainly on his face), he knows how hard Dean tries to do the whole “no homo” thing when literally everyone who’s ever seen them together knows Cas and Dean love each other.

It always annoys me when Sam, who benefited from Dean putting himself between John and him their whole damn lives, either teases or scolds Dean for the patterns of behavior he developed to cope with John’s treatment of him and with the issues Dean has with always trying to put Sam’s life first (”take care of Sammy, Dean”). Yeah, Sam was a kid for some of it, but he’s an adult now and can try to think through their childhood. He loves Dean but he doesn’t really see him. He recognizes that Dean made sacrifices for him, but doesn’t seem interested in thinking through the scale of those sacrifices. Sam is smart enough to figure things out. We the viewers did and we haven’t spent as much time with Dean as Sam has (sniff). Obviously this frustrates me about how Sam is written, especially because it’s something I’ve seen too often in real life. Dean deserved better.

The fact that Cas is the one who loves Dean for the person he is not the one he pretends to be, who heals him (literally and figuratively). Cas  very rarely made jokes at Dean’s expense or tried to hurt him - instead he tried to protect Dean at any cost to himself and others, to let him know he was cared for and loved in word and deed. Cas was the one who always tried to carry the weight of Dean’s pain and his trials while not making him self-conscious about being vulnerable…. Yeah, how weird that Dean fell in love with Cas! I hope they had in Heaven what they were denied in life.
