Old Testament Angels look like that because life in the ocean outnumbered life on land, so naturally when they visited earth they modeled their appearance on the most common lifeforms. Hench you get things like
radial symmetry (i.e. angels shaped like spheres) which is objectively cooler than bilateral symmetry (starfish understand this)
Very Numerous Limbs (2 is not the average number of arms in the ocean)
random glowing (bioluminescence)
just generally being objects of Absolute Terror to land dwellers
a thousand eyeballs being the Norm (have you seen scallops)
in the majority of inhabited Earth areas (i.e. anything deeper than the continental shelf) old school angels would actually pass as Normal And Relatably-Shaped Lifeforms
I think you all need to know the actual reason that seraphim have six wings–with two they covered their faces and with two they covered their feet and with two they flew–because it’s awesome.
So, first thing, in most of the Hebrew Bible nobody can look directly at God’s face and live. God is simply too amazing/great/alien. You see God’s face, you die, not because God wants to kill you (God doesn’t!) but just … because it’s the inevitable result of contact with God’s holiness. (This is responsible for such incidents as the time God mooned Moses. Moses wanted reassurance, and asked to see God. God said, “well, you can’t see my face, but how about this. You hide in that crevice in the rock over there, and I’ll cover you up so you’re safe, and then I’ll pass by, and when I’m safely past you can look at my back, k?” And that’s how it happened.)
Anyway, even angels can’t bear to look at God, which is why the seraphim cover their faces in God’s presence. All the weird stuff you all have just been attributing to angels? Can be applied to God with at least as much plausibility.
And then we come to the seraphim covering their feet. Or, perhaps I should say “feet.” Because the Hebrew language, like many languages, has some euphemisms for genitalia. One of them is to call them “feet” or “hands.” This is how, for example, Ruth gets Boaz to marry her. She goes in and lays down at his “feet.” Wink wink, nudge nudge.
So when Isaiah tells us the seraphim are flying around covering their “feet” with a pair of wings, what they’re actually doing is this:

I finished the demo (which is all of Chapter 1 of Storyline White)! It has over 400 choices to take (or ignore!), two minigames, a lexica with over 120 creatures and four lovely character to get to know more. The full game will in the future have 5 chapters per storyline for a total of 10 chapters with two protagonists and a colorful cast of monsters to befriend, hold hands, have a coffee with and perhaps even kiss. Or you stay aromantic all the way, friendship is just a different way to love someone after all ;)
The game is about a young timid young woman who wants to solve the mystery behind a child murder while simultaneously trying to socialize with the various people around her that simply want to be her friend (or more…?). Collect clues, make friends (and find love, if you’re into that) and try to make a difference in a world that deals with volcano eruptions due to dragon territory fights, ghosts getting evicted from their house due to a human infestation which keeps turning the light on and questionable dating shows involving incubi.

and i love the idea that years ago theres this rowdy little 19th century boy just being alive and playing in his room but if he gets too loud sometimes, the ghostly form of my 21st century friend shows up and is like "Hey! Cut it out." and then vanishes and no one believes this child

I have expanded the traditional 4 types; Highspeed, Elliptical, Low Aspect and High Aspect ratio, because they were very narrow and vague categories for the most part, adding High Energy, Thermal Soaring, Night Glider, and Passerine wings. I feel that these extra types make it easier to understand and visualize the differences and similarities between wing shapes.
I’ve renamed Low Aspect to Powered Soaring, and High Aspect to Dynamic Soaring for the purposes of the fact that names made it hard to understand purpose and were easily confusable.
A lot of these wing types are also affected by tailfeather shape and size, and that will change their agility and energy expenditure as the tail also generates lift.

My guilty pleasure is typical angel designs where it looks like a human with bird wings - I love the idea of the “human” part just being a shell/cocoon hiding the REAL angel.

This is not merely accurate, it is well established throughout history. In their juvenile form the Penna Angelus or Angelwing Parasite will seek out a human host, one young enough that it cannot resist the implantation process but with enough body mass that it will not be immediately exsanguinated by the growing parasite. This is seen reflected in art in the form of chubby, tiny-winged cherubim, a warning we longer understand well enough to heed.
For those few hosts fortunate enough to survive beyond childhood, the ongoing rigors of the parasite’s draw on bodily nutrients, and in later stages on necessary growth hormones, results in the host being unable to keep on weight and puberty being largely missed. Those in the final, terminal stages, prior to the now-fully-grown parasite departing its host will thus be thin to the point of emaciation, reflected in the slim, genderless angels seen in classical art.
