yukimiya casually lets go of your hand, and you barely manage one shaky glide before your balance gives out beneath you. your arms fly out instinctively as you lurch towards him, fingers catching desperately around his sleeve.
“w-wait… don’t let me go!” you blurt out, tightening your grip on his arm.
“pfft, didn’t you say you had it under control?” he chuckles, looping an arm securely around your waist before you could fall again.
after nearly taking both yourself & yukimiya down for the first half hour, you eventually start getting the hang of it. your movements are still a little wobbly, but you’re finally able to skate a few laps around the rink without clinging to him for dear life. naturally, the second you realize this, you turn to him with a look that screams ‘i told you so’
the two of you gradually settle into a comfortable pace, skating side-by-side with your fingers loosely intertwined. whenever someone speeds past too close, yukimiya instinctively tugs you nearer to his side to prevent you from stumbling into the other skaters rushing past

at one point, you get a little too ambitious and decide to skate backwards just like him. it lasts for a good five seconds before you nearly stumble forward. thankfully, yukimiya was there to pull you back against his chest before you could fall flat on the ice.
“… let’s leave all the fancy tricks to me,” he teases, keeping a hand on your waist as he guides you back into a proper stance.
a familiar song starts playing over the speakers, and before you know it, you’ve both started singing along without even realizing it. “… if the party was over and our time on earth was through…” 🎶 the two of you quietly sing along as you skate around the rink, occasionally missing a word here & there and laughing whenever one of you sings off-key. yukimiya squeezes your hand in time with the music, and somehow… the entire moment feels straight out of a romance movie
after taking off your skates, the two of you wander over to a secluded bench tucked just outside the rink, scrolling through all the photos from the evening. most of them are a complete mess— blurry candids, pictures snapped moments before one of you nearly wiped out, and an embarrassing number where you’re laughing far too hard to look at the camera properly.
"delete that one right now!" you groan, trying to snatch his phone away after spotting a particularly unflattering picture of yourself.
yukimiya laughs, holding it just out of reach. "absolutely not. this one's my favorite."
"you're evil!” you whine with a pout, shooting him an exaggerated glare.
"i think you look cute in these…”
you huff, leaning back against the bench as he continues scrolling through the photos. a few seconds later, yukimiya suddenly reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pair of matching phone charms he'd secretly bought earlier.
your eyes widen immediately.
"wait… what’s this?" you ask, your expression softening as you realize the two charms match.
a knowing grin spreads across his face as he reaches over and gently takes your phone from your hands, carefully hooking one of the charms onto the case himself. "… what does it look like?"
"ohhh, so this is why you disappeared earlier." you hum, arching an eyebrow at him.
"yeah, i had to make sure you didn't follow me.”
you stare down at the tiny charm dangling from your phone before looking back up at him, unable to stop yourself from smiling.
"… okay, this is actually really cute."
yukimiya grins, slipping the matching charm onto his own phone as well. "glad you approve."
