Jason Anderson
British artist Jason Anderson creates colorful abstract paintings composed of pixelated swatches of pastel-toned oil paint. Up-close, the artist’s paintings look like blocky layers of shapes and color; but, from afar, his scenes—featuring cityscapes, roads, trains, and marinas—are revealed.
Anderson began his career as a stained glass apprentice, where he worked on restoring the windows of cathedrals. He soon progressed onto designing the glass murals himself, where he learned how to break down subject matter into “jigsaws” of colored sections. This approach still shines through in his paintings today—complex scenes are brought to life with simple shapes and careful consideration to hue and tone.
Sometimes you have to just treat yourself like an overtired toddler.
“Okay, as soon as you finish this assignment you can take a little nap.”
“You just cleaned your room, good job!”
“Hmm..maybe eating a snack will stop you from wanting to cry.”
Sometimes? I think you mean all of the time.
Being an adult is just parenting yourself.
It’s true and highly effective self care. Speak to and treat yourself with the same love and care you would want your child self to be given.
That means: no insults or name calling. No judgement. Patience. Gentle firmness. Health, safety and happiness first. Encouragement. Rewards and validation for a job well done. Self soothing. And above all else, love.

Dear God,
-incoherent screaming-
luckily the Holy Spirit can translate!
”hi God, all i really have to say is *cries*”
Me @ God: *incoherent screaming*
Holy Spirit @ God: help her
In case y'all didn’t know this is literally exactly what the bible says Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
I love this thread
kindness is a discipline, not a trait
Yes.
As with many disciplines, kindness may come more easily to some than to others. But it is nonetheless something you can learn, something you can teach, something you can work at.
Something you do, rather than something you are.
This is the single most fundamental and basic thing you need to know about kindness. Without it, it's impossible to truly be kind.
Oh my God i had a religious dream that felt so good. I felt Love and Faith.
Don’t Lose the Thread: Shadow Work for Low Spoon Days
My partner and I both have been struggling with some low spoon days lately. It’s been hard to want to do full spreads or rituals. I haven’t felt much like studying or researching. It can make you feel like your practice depends on some fickle force you don’t have much control over.
But on the other side, it’s forced me to really get in touch with what my practice is and I’ve begun to find what works for me. I feel like a lot of this stuff it probably obvious to a lot of folks but they’ve come as realizations to me so I thought they might be worth sharing.
What I’m finding is that your goal on low spoon days should just be to keep the thread. What that looks like for you will depend a great deal on your situation. But the main idea is do enough that you don’t feel like you’re starting from scratch when you find yourself with more spoons and want to do something more sizeable. I’m realizing my routines should neve extend past what I can’t argue with doing even on my bad days.
Find the effort you can’t argue with
I’m realizing that low spoon days are actually really really good for one thing in particular – figuring out routines. Because if you can’t do it on a low spoon day, then it probably shouldn’t go in your routine. Because you will have them. And if you’re the sort of person who gets thrown off when you can’t do the same thing for a few days in a row like I am, then it should absolutely be the bar you use to develop your routines. Everything else is optional, a good bonus. You can do them when you feel like it. But for what you do daily or mostly daily – things you can maintain on low spoon days are what to stick to.
Along with that, on your low spoon days, find activities that you can’t really talk yourself out of because it’s just so reasonable. Pull a card or two. If shuffling feels like a lot of work, just spread the deck out and pick one that feels right. Journal for a few minutes every day digitally if doing it by hand feels like a lot of work. Meditate for five minutes, or hell just take three deep calming breaths. Find a book or a source text you’ve been wanting to read and just spend a few minutes each day reading a page or two.
I’ve heard this called minimum acceptable effort and I kind of like the term. Like what is enough effort that I did something? If you’re finding that your minimum acceptable effort is bigger than the spoons you have, then you need to adjust your perspective of what counts.
Remember the goal is to just stay in touch with these practices. On days when you have more energy – do more! I try to meditate at least 5-10 minutes a day even on bad days. But when I have more energy or space in my life I will often do hour long sits. Sometimes more. But it’s those shorter times that enable that for me. They help me remember that it’s something I care about and am working on. They help me maintain the skill even if I’m not improving it. And that’s the goal – to maintain the work you do on your more energetic days so you don’t feel like you’re constantly starting from scratch.
Focus on recording rather than processing
With shadow work in particular, it can be a challenge to do when you don’t have many spoons. I try to in those cases focus on recording what happened, what my feelings are, and what it reminds me of. Because those are the things that are really helpful to know later and I personally always forget. I even prefer to do this digitally rather than by hand because there’s too much friction for me with handwritten stuff.
I also keep a stuck point log in my phone. So when I’m out and about and I realize I’ve got some belief that really causing problems, I can jot it down with the idea that I’ll try pushing and prodding it later when I’ve got more spoons.
Don’t be afraid of other ways of recording things. When I was a teenager/in my early twenties, I relied heavily on turning on my webcam and just talking. I’d go back and watch it later and try to think of what advice I’d give myself. I’ve done voice memos too. Just whatever works for you and has the least friction to you actually using it – use that.
Look for preassembled structures
One of the first things to go when you’re low on spoons is higher order thinking. Or at least it does for me. I just want to focus on doing what’s in front of me rather than trying to set a whole system up for myself. That’s why I highly recommend keeping a stash of structured activities for shadow work. Whether it’s a tarot challenge, journal prompts, or a workbook, look for someone who’s already done that higher order thinking and focus on executing on what they’ve come up with.
For shadow work, the resources out there like this aren’t super common yet. But don’t be afraid to use things outside of their intended uses. If you find a good tarot challenge, but you’re not into tarot – use it as a series of journal prompts. Find a good journal prompt but don’t feel like writing it out, pull some cards on it.
Just look for things that take the mental load off so you can focus on keeping the thread and not getting overwhelmed.
Conclusion
The most important thing about continuing shadow work – or any practice really – is keeping the thread. I think we really ought to start breaking conversations about routines down into minimum acceptable effort and desirable extra. Do what you can where you are and build your routine around that.
With shadow work in particular, it’s important to leave yourself breadcrumbs. Write down what you’re thinking, feeling, and doing when you can. Put words to stuff you might lose later.
But really above all – keep hold of that thread. That’s what determines whether this path will be a phase or a lifelong journey. If you keep losing hold of it, it’s gonna be that much harder to keep going. So give yourself what you need to build on when you’ve got the spoons to. You’ll thank yourself. I promise.
🌟Tips for interpreting Tarot🌟
1. The most important clues may be in the background!
In the Rider Waite Smith deck, many cards show a figure with a number of significant items behind his or her back. What happens behind one’s back is, for oneself, something unseen, shadowy, something to which one has no conscious access. This could point to the idea that the figure in the foreground is unaware of the nature or scope of their issues. You can’t grasp what you cannot see, and that can reveal a lot about the nature of the card’s meaning.
2. The color of the sky reveals a lot!
Again referencing the Rider Waite Smith deck, the color of the sky on a given card often leads to a simple but important clue for its interpretation.
3. Pay close attention to proportions!
In the image of the Four of Wands, the figures are depicted much smaller than is the case in other images; they fall short. Or perhaps they are of normal height and are painted so small in order to emphasize the comparatively huge size of the wands. This sort of thing can be found in many other cards.
4. Court cards represent developed personalities or facets of oneself!
The Queen: impulsive, an initiator, an investigator (water type)
The King: thorough, intensive, consolidating (fire type)
The Knight: magnifying, expanding, a drawer of consequences (air type)
The Page: makes something tangible out of or with the element in question (earth type)
4. Pay attention to numbers!
Numerology can play a big role in your interpretations of the cards, especially in the Minor Arcana:
Ones (Aces): Something new with vast potential is indicated when you have many aces in your readings. They are pure energy without form - and it depends on you to shape it and bring the opportunities that they represent into fruition. Because they are raw, they are also unstable, and can very quickly overwhelm if not taking care.
Twos: Coming together in pairs is the theme of the twos, and all the complexities that this union represents. We leave the individuality of the ones, and the twos are a taste of union.
Threes: Group dynamics rule the threes in the tarot, and they depict different outcomes that can occur when a group comes together - whether they are groups of individuals, or groups of ideas. Because it is also symbolically thought of as completion (the first polygon, the holy trinity, etc) it also indicates an initial completion of a first phase of some sort.
Fours: The fours usually indicate that some foundation has been created and is ready to grow and evolve. To grow and evolve is the key here, because though the foundation is created, there is some disappointment indicated sometimes because things may not have progressed entirely as hoped for - thus, the fours are also the universe’s way of pushing us to grow and move forward.
Fives: Change, fluctuations and conflict are represented by the fives. After the fours, the fives are amplifications of that same energy. When that energy explodes, the fives ask us to look within ourselves for a deeper reason of why to progress. To move forward and beyond these instabilities, we have to push forward.
Sixes: While the fives represent conflict, the sixes represent the movement away from that conflict into a solution, whether they are internal or external, whether that means reconciliation or letting go. They are the cards of overcoming suffering, light after the dark.
Sevens: When seeing many sevens in a reading it usually indicates that it is a time to step back and introspect. The sevens ask us to assess, and reevaluate whether the path that you are taking is what is best for you. Sometimes this is a lonely pursuit, but this period is needed to go forward with your authentic desires.
Eights: A completion of a second phase is indicated with the eights, and usually corresponds to some sort of achievement, whether in the worldly sense, or in an emotional sense. Growth either way is indicated here, and sometimes it can take place in a form where we least expected it.
Nines: Nearing completion is indicated by the nines, and this can take the form of entering a plateau of some sort. What looks like the finish line, may actually be just a transitory stage. While the feeling of completion is here, it is usually just a pause before the final part of the cycle comes.
Tens: In the tens, we see the actual completion of the cycle, that something has come to a full circle - it indicates that from this point forward, we can move towards a new beginning. ✨🔮✨ Sources: Biddytarot, The Ultimate Guide to the Rider Waite Tarot by Johannes Fiebig and Evelin Burger, Understanding Tarot by Liz Dean

Personal story about being a confused witch and a traumatized student, and how to bond with classmates
Last year, after several years studying from home, i decided to finally start to come to physical school again. I wanted to have real teachers, homework, and a reason to get up at regular hours. The goal : being more motivated, having a more regular studying routine and thus, having more chances to graduate.
The thing is, i was terrified. I was bullied in high school because i’m queer and disabled, and i feared so much it would happen again. It’s a real trauma, i was sooo anxious everytime i thought about having classmates.
Fortunately, at the start of the school year (if i remember well, it was the weekend right before the first class) happened a really beautiful thing in my city : a bunch of queer people organizing a weekend where they take care of other queer people.
At this event, there was a fortune teller. So, my very frightened self signed up for a time with her. I had two problems : there was a ghost in my home, and also i was really, really anxious about school. I think school frightened me even more than the ghost...
The fortune teller draw some cards and told me i REALLY NEEDED TO PROTECT MYSELF. She gave me a lot of advice : sage, crystals, keeping my favorite tarot card on me, and she gave me one tiny bottle of potion and told me to put it on my forearms every morning before going to school.
I took the potion and did as i was told. And it worked. But i think it worked too much. Here’s how i know it : when i had the potion on me, no one bothered me at all. But no one looked at me at all either. And the very exact day i forgot my potion, so several weeks after start of class, some classmates talked to me. They seemed to notice me for the first time. From that day on, i didn’t wear the potion, except on very bad days, then no potion at all, ever.
I don’t know what’s in this potion. I still have it on a shelf somewhere. Maybe it was too strong, maybe it was no good. Or maybe it was because that day, i was less stressed. Maybe i seemed more available.
What i really want to say is : the person who gave me this potion encouraged me in a unhealthy mindset. I came saying i was terrified of my classmates, and she said yes, you should ward. As if they were evil entities. And i followed that. I stayed in my all-frightened mindset and didn’t talk to classmates, and i sat in the front row so i didn’t see them, and apart from them... i literally isolated myself.
Because i thought that people = danger.
After i stopped wearing the potion, i was still anxious. But i dared to ask my classmates informations about that homework, help on that subject, copies of that class i missed, and they responded nicely to it. They were willing to help their disabled classmate without any questions. Finally, this year, we even greet each other when i see them in the hallway!! And for me that’s a huuuuge progress to be able to respond with a smile and a “did you enjoy your weekend?”. There’s even a girl that often willingly sits next to me???
There’s a fact : they are not evil. Just because you were bullied in the past doesn’t mean every person who goes to the same school as you is evil. My current classmates are not even mean or judgemental. Well, not the ones i talk to anyways.
Another fact : sometimes you have to work on you trauma in order to get somewhere and that’s not always good to over protect yourself. That’s what my therapist said. Yes, seeing a (good) therapist is GOOD.
And witchcraft does not solve everything. Also, don’t always trust fortune tellers. I have deep respect for the one i saw last year, but also, wtf ? The advice about the ghost were really good tho. But fortune tellers aren’t therapists.
When i was in a “classmates are dangerous” mindset, i felt terrible. I felt so alone. Spending whole days amongst other people without anyone noticing me? Awful. Then i slowly started to think “they’re just people”. And every little “hello” felt like progress.
And now, i’m happy to go to class.

I’m both pro herbal medicine and pro vaccination because you can treat burns with aloe vera juice and sore throats with lavender infused honey but you can’t rid a country of polio with plants.
Don’t forget kids, jewelweed is a natural counteragent to poison ivy rashes but it won’t do shit against whooping cough

Bedridden witch: Winter edition
For winter/ice witches! I tried to keep this fairly location neutral - so hopefully you find some helpful things even if you live someplace that doesn’t get snow/cold!
Create strands of pine cones to hang from your ceiling.
Collect a jar of snow so you can always have snow water nearby.
Drink things like seasonal tea, hot cocoa and apple cider.
Burn pine/spruce/wintery scented candles.
Get/make a small wreath and keep it indoors!
Use ice cubes to connect to the cold.
Keep clear quartz and snowflake obsidian around.
Make paper snowflakes! Or find an app/website where you can do a digital one.
Use your heat to draw sigils on frosted windows.
Put a bird feeder outside your window so you get winter visitors!
Use sigils that connect you to snow.
Get empty glass ornaments and fill them with herbs/pine needles/things that remind you of winter and hang them around.
Wear shimmery blue or white nail polish.
Check out the winter decor section of thrift stores when you make it out of bed! (Or have someone send you pictures).
Check out seasonal themed/winter aesthetic blogs.
White fairy lights!
Keep your curtains open during a full moon.
Wind chimes remind me of everything. Including! Winter.
Get some cute little snow globes.
Decorate with winter colors! White, blue, silver, grey, dark green, etc.
Use essential oils like mint and cinnamon.
Listen to music that reminds you of winter/snow falling. Try instrumentals.
Open the window for a minute to feel the cold air (do this early in the morning if you live somewhere warm).
This cute idea for moon charged ice cubes.
Watch gifs/videos of snow, ice forming, fire crackling, etc.
Connect with any deities that are associated with winter. (I connect with Artemis because she is part of the pantheon that I worship)
Watch shows/movies that remind you of the wintertime from when you were a kid.
Keep a bonsai tree/jade plant. Something that naturally keeps it’s leaves even in winter.
