After hours of torment, Whumper crouches by Whumpee and asks if they wants to go home.

Whumpee freezes — because Whumper says it like they might actually mean it.

Their voice comes out a broken whisper. "Yes."

Whumper nods slowly, looking into Whumpee's eyes. Then they rear back and hit them harder than ever.

"Wrong answer. You don't have a home. Maybe we need a bit longer to make that lesson stick."

i think when representing trauma and PTSD in media we should explore hallucinations more. not the ones where they imagine talking to the person of their trauma because usually that’s written unrealistically but for example:

auditory hallucinations like small sounds, voices that both seem unreal and real, etc. but also tactile ones. touches, skin crawling, all that crap. the feeling of someone being right there in the room with you is also something that i’d like to see represented more because it can be written sooo well. and last but not least the classic flashes compared to the constant hallucinations. the flash of a shadow or a figure or a face that’s gone before you can truly grasp it ykwim

“For talking back.” The first smack barely turns their head, but it doesn't stop stinging by the time-“for disobeying-” the next one lands.

They let their head hang to one side, trying to keep their breath as... close to normal as they can. Trying to hold back the tears — Whumper loves the tears.

“For trying to lie — look at me.” His voice is harsh, and as Whumpee forces themself to obey, they can see him readjust his gloves. Leather creaks as he moves his fingers, and it's so stupid — his hands also sting, and it's unfair that he gets to feel that, too. “Do you understand, already?”

They want to spit something out. Besides the blood and drool pooling in their mouth, they mean — something about what a jerk he's being, something about telling him to go fuck himself. Whumpee knows it's worthless, though, or less than that, even.

They're halfway through a nod, trying to swallow. The slap makes their ears ring again.

They stumble to look forward again, and as they take a deep breath in, they feel the liquid dripping from their lips, their chin.

The backhand almost throws them on the ground.

“For bleeding on my floor.” Whumper's silhouette is blurry, but they manage to look at where his eyes should be.

Whumpee spits, letting the metallic taste leave their tongue, and presses their mouth closed again in time for the hand holding their neck, the next hit — no, the next two, three.

“For being- a disrespectful little shit.”

Whumper only stops to fix his gloves again, pushing them back, and Whumpee lets themselves crumble to the floor, a wicked sense of satisfaction setting behind the sting and the numbness.

Give me a man handcuffed and chained to a chair, cuffs wrapped tightly around ankles and wrists. Blood running down his face, whilst he whimpers through the beating bestowed upon him. He mutters again and again, “I can take it”, whilst blood drips from his chin and black eyes bloom. The hand rears back and punches him across the face again. His head slumps to his chest as blood and saliva pool on his exposed chest.

Give me a woman with her hands tied behind the back of a chair, tight enough to hold her in place as she takes a beating. Sweat darkening her hair, pained grimace revealing blood-stained teeth. She mutters between blows, "I can take it", even as her breath turns ragged and her eyes lose focus. Another crack across the face makes her jerk against her bonds. Her head bows, her shoulders slump, and she spits a mouthful of blood on the floor.

Whumpee hooked up to a mind torture device. An “ethical” alternative to physical torture, it leaves the body completely intact as it only tricks the mind into believing any corporal pain and affliction is real. Numerous “punishments” are inflicted on Whumpee—burns, broken bones, whipping, removing fingers, etc.—all completely real in Whumpee’s head.

After so long with the device, Whumpee is finally released. And they can only stare in disassociated horror at their perfectly intact body.
