The thing about Argentina is that people have this idea of how the country is (usually promoted by some first-world country) and so they already made up their minds about us. We're the villains and we are never not going to be if they refuse to interact and listen to what we say or how we are.

"Argentina is racist" there are racists, yes, like everywhere. They are loud, like everywhere else. Right now there is a US backed right-wing government that Is fucking us over, like in half the world.

"Argentina is white" we had a huge wave of european migration, yes, as well as jewish, arab, chinese, african and from the rest of latam. We also have multiple indigenous peoples and cultures that first lived here. The afroargentinians had a huge impact on the independence and foundation of our nation and culture. The myth that argentina is white is promoted by right-wing groups.

"Argentina is full of nazis" the nazis came to Latin America (not just Argentina) through the back door in secret and had to change their names, unlike the US which gave them jobs at NASA.

By the way, this is not unique? A lot of countries had similar experiences in their histories. But somehow Argentina gets all the bad rep.

It was rigged until it wasn't, I guess. Suddenly, it was just "the team played poorly". But god forbid anyone admit that about all the teams that lost to Argentina. Which, let's be real, needing overtime to get 1 single goal doesn't mean Argentina isn't a good team. In what world is that the definition of being demolished? Also have to laugh at the people who cried the whole tournament about it being rigged for Messi, but all that man left with was a silver medal. I'm actually so tired of stupid people.

One more thing then I'm done.

What people don't understand is that Argentinians are mostly content with losing to Spain. They're content with admitting that Spain outplayed their team. They're also still celebrating in the streets, grateful for making it to the finals. Thanking the team and coach. People don't realize the resilience of Argentinians after everything they've had to endure. And that's how I know that the hate campaign is full of people who have zero knowledge of the country's history or of the people who live there. It also shows how little people know about what's happening in the country now - economically and within the government. As much as everyone wanted it to, this one game wasn't going to break them.

And that's not to say everyone there is great and it's all rainbows and Narnia. Of course there are shitty people there but news flash, there are shitty people everywhere. This shouldn't be news to anyone. But the hate that's been thrown towards this one Latin American country wasn't about being 'woke'. It was always about having an excuse to be racist and xenophobic. You all saw the green light on social media and ran through it like an animal that's been caged and muzzled for years. For that, I'll never forgive how this site acted.

congratulations to Spain on winning their second World Cup. they were a fantastic team throughout the tournament and deserved to lift the trophy.

as for us, we get to keep all the beautiful memories.

we lived the dream in 2022, and this has been another incredible World Cup for Argentina and for all of us who got to experience it together.

i couldn’t be prouder of this team, our captain, and everything they represent.

the recent trend to hate on argentina and to characterize doing so as woke has allowed many first worlders to show their true colors. as soon as you all seem to get the 'green light' that hating on a third world country is acceptable you stop hiding your disdain and xenophobia. this and the "calling ice" jokes show you don't actually give two shits about racism or cheating or whatever, you just want a socially acceptable way to hate on latin americans
