sometimes its like. i would love to not have to think about gender and misogyny all the time but on account of us living on the Gender and Misogyny Planet i cant do that. so
the thing about being bullied for being weird as a kid is that even if you've always embraced being weird your brain is still always looking for the line where it's too much. you can be as proudly and intentionally weird as you want and you can love being weird but your mind is still convinced there's a point where you get too weird and people start treating you like a weird looking bug again. also it feels like you reach that point 500 times a day even if everyone you've spoken to today found you pleasant and likable and even if you're completely alone in your house with nobody looking at you at all.
i need (abruptly stops talking & stares at some random fixed point with a vacant expression)
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
funny how sleep deprivation can make you feel really ill and miserable. but can also make you say "wow i look so great in leopard print and a top hat and im sure if i started poledancing to this silversun pickups song right now i'd be really good at it and everybody on else on the southern service from brighton to southampton right now would love it"

maybe I like talking about the weather okayâŠâŠ itâs not awkward to me. weâve both been outside today and the sun and clouds were there too, letâs discuss.
taylor swift invited a guy who owns and operates an ice detention center to her wedding swifties can pack it up forever now your bitch is awful
Wild how no one made announcements like this about P.Diddy when his trial was happening.
Wild how abusive artists like Micheal Jackson can have biography movies made and not a single mention of accused abuses or the subsequent trials will be mentioned.
Hmmmm I wonder why people feel the need to explicitly condemn women and any action they may have possibly been a part of (like inviting a shitty guy to your wedding) yet do not extend this same behavior to men in the same industry who commit abuse and atrocities on a much larger scale đ€?
yeah i hate concentration camps because i hate women you caught me
No, you feel the need to publicly denounce Taylor Swift because you hate women.
Taylor Swift doesn't run a concentration camp, even your retort attempting to be cute shows your ignorance and generalization of the topic.
i've never attempted to be cute in my life it comes very naturally to me âșïž like compartmentalization for you
âYou clearly hate womenâ, concludes the blogger after seeing yet another valid criticism of a music artist so powerful she can single-handedly grind an entire major city to a halt for her wedding, or can increase CO2 emissions in a statistically significant way when she doesnât want to deal with Los Angeles traffic.
With a satisfied smile, the blogger lets their brain return to a warm and gentle B-mode where criticism of any other celebrity does not exist, because the bloggerâs favorite singer is the One True Celebrity. The blogger need not read the vast amounts of criticisms of the latest Michael Jackson biopic. The blogger need not pay attention to any post not tagged with the name of their One True Celebrity.
One day, the blogger knows, they will receive their Eternal Reward for being a True Fan of the One True Celebrity and defending her from all the blind, sexist sheep who only pretend to care about the climate and immigrants and the normalization of fascism and racist dog whistles and stopping the onslaught of end-stage capitalism so that they can dunk on a beautiful, white, innocent, frail little flower of a woman who needs the protection of someone Chosen - like the blogger.
With a self-satisfied smirk, the blogger returns to their Matrix-style sleep pod filled with pony beads instead of slime and hooks themselves in, returning to a slumber that will power Taylorâs personal vibrator until the next Google Alert wakes the blogger for another round of defense. As the blogger drifts into slumber, their eyes fluttering, Taylorâs voice can be heard, praising the Chosen bloggerâs efforts, her beautiful, melodic voice line only interrupted by the customized name portion which sounds like the CVS phone voice:
âThank you, [Pleasure Wand Power Unit 758]! You sure did a good job [defending my friendship with people who run concentration camps]. Donât forget to buy the seven new re-releases of my last twelve albums in special edition cases! My honeymoon isnât going to pay for itself!â
Smiling, the blogger returns to the nether once more, dreaming only of the twelve new versions of old songs theyâd soon be able to buy, screwing over younger, up-and-coming women in the music industry (who are sexist for trying to be women in the industry that belongs to Taylor).
Sick list of symptoms bro. Now try humanizing your behavior instead of pathologizing it.
Pathologizing: Hey sorry I yelled at you. I have this ADHD symptom called RSD that makes me really sensitive.
Humanizing: Hey, Iâm sorry that I blew up like that earlier. In the moment I felt really attacked and overwhelmed and I reacted badly, but I know you didnât mean to offend me with what you said, so that behavior is on me.
people will literally say this and then not actually believe you when you say you're abnormally upset by something unless you disclose your mental disability to clarify it.
yeah i'm sorry i convulsed and snapped when you and your friend spoke to me at the same time, i actually have- wait, mentioning my sensory issues would be pathologizing my behavior, uh yea i just hate the sound of your voice i guess. let me jump in this hole real quick
i was reminded of this anemic post by a reblog, and i wanna emphasize, this is the neurodiversity version of when someone immerses themselves in an online community of outsiders for too long without engaging with normal society until they're saying "but we shouldn't shame women for wanting to be housewives" and thinking its a hot take. if someone "pathologizes their behavior" it is likely the first time they have ever done so in their lives, if a neurodivergent person legitimately tried to use their condition as an "excuse" towards you it is because they trust you more than any other human on earth and the maddening refusal to acknowledge this is nothing short of terminal entitlement.
there are endless reblogs and replies who seem to be trying to convince me this post says something it doesn't. there is nothing compassionate about telling disabled people to forever concede that their behaviors are indistinguishable from a neurotypical person who simply sucks and is wrong all the time.
this isn't analogous to apologizing because you ran someone's foot over with your wheelchair, it's turning to that wheelchair user and telling them to apologize for making their feet so big and heavy
there is nothing compassionate about telling disabled people to forever concede that their behaviors are indistinguishable from a neurotypical person who simply sucks and is wrong all the time
your ex is a narcissist? so he must struggle with close friendships, right--oh, he's respectful to his male friends? he only acts this way around women? that's crazy, they should invent a word for such a phenomenon
