Hey folks,
So, 6 weeks in, many of the pop up food distribution networks helping get groceries to immigrant families trapped in their homes because of ICE have been disassembled by ICE, or run out of funds, or run out of people.
Because of that, the one I volunteer with sometimes, which I will personally vouch for and which is an escalation of a longstanding free food network, has taken on helping more and more families.
And they have about one week left of funds.
It’s all volunteers, and the space is donated, but they’re running out of money for buying food for the bags. And they do a good job getting things cheap and offering culturally specific options, and I really want them to keep going.
If you can, please donate, and if you can’t donate, consider spreading the word?
You can also find them on Bsky for more deets, right here.
(and no, they don't only prepare or send out vegan food. They're focusing on the needs of the people they're serving, not their own food choices)
