Klute/Twittering Birds
When you're use to being alone and somebody comes in and moves it around, you feel angry, so you want to hurt them. They are intruding pushing inside your comfort zone. This was a talk the character had with their psychiatrist. This was from the movie Klute ( 1971). It sort of rang with Yashiro and his dealing with Doumeki. Wanting to destroy a relationship because you don't understand the feelings it brings, it being different from your experience. They fought the intrusion at every turn. Going back to their ugly life to trying to push them away. But this guy stayed by their side. Taking care of them even at their ugliest moments. Not being in control was scary to the character. But ultimately they wondered if their lives were too different. She had been a prostitute and he a Detective. But we were left with a maybe.
So Doumeki knew he had to stay in Yashiro's world to have any chance of love. A normal life was something Yashiro didn't understand so how would that work with a Yakuza's life. So Doumeki understood he had to give up living a quote normal life if he loved Yashiro, and he did. I don't think he has any regrets.
It was a long Sunday afternoon watching old movies but it was fruitful.

They will likely discuss the Sherlock book at some point. They talk about the Herondale necklace a lot because It's the thing Magnus enchanted to strengthen Livvy and Ty's bond and Ty always wears it.
However, do they discuss that Kit basically provided the pendant to Magnus for the purpose and that Ty was supposed to have written him a thank you letter? Well, they have agreed not to discuss anything about "their past" at the beginning of the book, so they kind of talk around it. They may think about it, though.

The fact that every single Fox who has met real monsters Immediately sees that Andrew isnt one is very telling
Kevin, Neil and Renee. They have all seen some of the worst people out there. Not one of them ever sees Andrew as a monster.
And yes, the other Foxes have suffered, but none of them have really met the kind of evil those three had to deal with.
Kevin, Neil and Renee have looked literal souless monstruosity in the eyes and neither of them finds it when they look in Andrew's eyes. Because It isnt there.
Andrew is violent, controling and slightly posessive. But he is no monster in any way shape or form. He cares, way more than he lets on. Andrew's main issue is that as much as he doesnt wanna feel, he still does, has never stopped.
Andrew is a victim of monsters, not a monster. And the three others on the team who have also been victims of monsters Immediately clock the truth.

“Kit.” The voice sounded as if it was coming from very far away. Not Ty’s voice, either. Kit felt as if ice had been injected into his veins, but he forced himself to roll over onto his back.
Ty was there, a silver knife in his hand. He ducked his head and started cutting away the rope around Kit’s waist. Hovering just behind him was Livvy, half-translucent, her hair floating around her as if she were underwater just as Kit had been.
“Kit, you have to get up,” she was saying. Kit had seen a lot of ghosts in his life, but never one as clearly panicked as Livvy was now. “They’re here, they followed you —“
The words echoed inside Kit’s head, all sound and no sense. Follow, follow, follow. He caught at Ty’s wrist just as the rope fell away.

You just know when the US Court roster was announced and it was revealed that Kevin Day, Neil Josten AND Andrew Minyard were stepping on the court together for the first time since the Foxes, every other team going to the Olympics collectively went "Oh Fuck, we're screwed."
