A blush quickly made its way across Wren’s face, she tugged at her lip ring nervously. Of course she wanted to do something with Eden, and as soon as she heard the words ‘really like you’ her heart picked up (if that was even possible).
“Yes!- I mean sure, sorry, I would absolutely love to see a movie with you Eden.”
She smiled at the seeming nervousness of Eden across from her, it was cute but Wren had to admit that she would probably also be fumbling for words if it was her who had to ask Eden out on a date. Wren’s eyes moved across Eden’s face, gazing at her eyes, her nose and finally locking on her lips. God, she could kiss her right now.
“So, what kinda movies do you like anyway?”
Wren asked while she exchanged a colouring pencil for her coffee cup, taking a long sip of coffee to her warm up but never one letting go of Eden’s hand.
Maybe Eden wasn’t as bad at all of this as she’d thought she was and she actually had a chance at something here. She wouldn’t use the word ‘love’ just yet, but having a relationship with someone outside of just being friends with Parker would probably be good for her. It’d be the first bit of true normality that’d come about since she’d gotten pregnant. Plus, Wren just had this presence of being someone safe to care about. She was solid, strong - the wind wasn’t going to blow her out of Eden’s life and neither were the zombies outside.
“Well, I used to be really big on horror movies, zombie ones in particular but now..” She chuckled and pushed her hair back behind her ear. “Obviously not so much, I guess I was more of a netflix binge than someone who actually watched movies. I used to watch that show Black Mirror, and um, oh there was this one about cryptids that used to be on animal planet. It was like found footage..” Eden had a love for science fiction, it was kind of ironic that she lived it now.
“I think they’re still doing The Little Mermaid and Mad Max in the mess, if you want we could probably catch both of them tonight? I gotta go tell Parker where I’ll be though, he worries.” She also needed a chance to get ready, take a shower, pull her hair back - wear something besides a well oversized police academy hoodie. Sure it was the end of the world and Wren already seemed smitten, but Eden liked to dress up anyways.
"Sure."
Wren smiled, her spare hand instinctively reaching towards her dog tags as butterflies flitted around her stomach. It didn't make much sense to her, why all of a sudden she was acting like a school girl first in love, but I guess being alone for so long made this so exciting to her. Eden felt right. She wasn't like Beck or even Mira, something about her felt like an anchor, felt like she wouldn't let go.
She was nervous however about her leg. It had happened countless times where people initially acted accepting but when the clothes where off they seemed to change their minds. Usually an expression of intense sorrow. Even during the apocalypse the look on Mira's face every time she saw Wren's leg was unforgettable, it's like she couldn't shake the feeling that it was somehow her fault. Not to mention the scars, and all the tattoos. Deep down she knew that Eden wouldn't be like that, but you can never tell.
"Do you want me to wait here or come with you?" Wren asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
