Writeblr Intro and all that jazz

Yooo. I’m Hannah and I’m a 15 year old writer. My current interest is Literary Fiction or any story with a strong atmosphere and interesting character dynamics. But I’ll read and write absolutely anything if the inspiration hits, there’s no criteria.

Current WIPs:

Love, the Gospel - Not 100% sure I’ll continue this one, but I plan on it being a collection of short stories based off of my interpretation of angels and their relationships with humanity.

Excerpt:

Like clay, they were made of dirt and dust, moulded by the restless hands of simple men and their many desires of the divine. Yet what they did not know was that these creatures didn’t belong to foreign realms or unadorned human nature; they belonged to reckless freedom and its sinful grace.

Millie Planet - A contemporary love-hate relationship between Millie and Amara, two teen girls who sacrifice their moral identity for the other’s attention.

Excerpts:

1. Maybe she was a bird in her past life. Maybe she was an alien, fallen from the sky. Surely, she wasn’t human. Surely, no human laughed like a crow, stomped like an elephant, and saw reality like a ship unsailed, waiting to be known, to be rocked above the sea.

2. She stood, grabbed the remaining flowers that still held its healthy shape and stepped close to me. Her hair shone like water falls of gold. It was almost frightening, like a trick of the light. Perhaps if I touched it, the buds of my fingers would melt away.

Writeblr Secret Admirer [Valentine’s Day Event]

THE EVENT

Let’s spread some love and positivity on Valentine’s Day! This is an event where we are going to send and receive some secret admirer messages to people’s ask boxes!

Back for the second year by popular demand, I’ve decided to run this event again with some improvements!

By signing up, you are agreeing to send someone a really nice and loving ask on February 14th, 2020.

I, Undine (@pens-swords-stuff​) will be assigning you a person to send a secret admirer message to via asks.

I will also be assigning someone to send YOU a secret admirer message, so you’ll have something to look forward to on Valentine’s Day

There is no particular criteria about what you have to send, as long as it’s kind and positive. It doesn’t have to be romantic or anything, just send them something nice! Some potential ideas include: sending them compliments; telling them that they’re amazing and loved; comment something you love about their blog; send them a sweet Valentine’s day poem, the options are endless and the only limit is your creativity.

What is this?

Nothing you do will ever be waste.

Did you end up scrapping a WIP you’ve worked on for years? Not a waste! Sure that WIP might not be something you’re actively working on anymore, but it gave you so much good practice. You learned so much about how to craft a story, your prose has improved so much as a result of it, and the fun you’ve had while working on it still means something really valuable.

Did you fall out of love with a character you made? Not a waste! Every single detail you researched for this character, every single trait you gave them… That’s going to help you in the next character you make. You’re better at character creation because of that character you might not use anymore.

Did your plot veer into a completely different direction, and now the majority of what you’ve written for your WIP doesn’t fit? Not a waste! That change wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t already written for your WIP. It gave you a better idea of your WIP and what it needs, and your story is better for it. 

Every single success, every single failure has contributed to the amazing writer that you are today. 

Nothing is a waste, nothing you do will be a waste — it’s all meaningful and important!

the ophanim, or wheels and thrones, are the strangest of the angels and the most limited in terms of form. they are angels created with the specific purpose of aiding other angels.

all ophanim rarely speak, and when they do it is either out of necessity (such as the extremely rare and dangerous situation of speaking to a human), or it is simply groups of them singing together in their own angelic language, usually in the form of adoration for their assigned cherub, their assigned group of seraphim, or their father. wheels also use phrases or incantations as a part of their binding magick.

the thrones are somewhat smaller, and the best description of them is that of an armillary sphere with eyes and wings upon the spheres, and a large eye in the center. two wings extend from each of the spheres, and their characteristic hundreds of eyes line the spheres’ perimeter. some thrones, usually those of more important cherubim, can have upwards of eight or more spheres, although not all with wings.

thrones are given in groups of fours to attend on a cherub. the choice of four ophanim per cherub was made to reflect the canonical four faces of a cherub, the interpretation of which was not used as a physical feature of the cherubim in holiest. 

the wheels are much larger, and appear in the same manner of spheres with eyes, but they lack wings altogether and have a greater capacity of invisibility in addition to the permission to be non-corporeal whenever they like. while they still easily fly around, their wheels also have extremely sharp spokes (which can shoot out from their wheels like spikes) and spin much faster than the thrones. they work in tandem with seraphim against fallen angels, demons, and also aid in the saving of humans from evil forces.

                                                             Safehouse

Solomon looked up as the door to his shop rang out a tinny chime. Two men had entered the little coffee shop. With their heavy jackets, boots, hiking gear, and large rifles, they looked out of place amongst the customers who sat at the low rough hewn tables around the room, looking at the men with guarded curiosity. The taller of the two men strode up to the counter and produced a sheet of paper from somewhere inside of his jacket, placing it on the counter and shoving it toward Solomon.

“Have you seen this girl?”

He looked down at the wrinkled photograph in front of him and smiled. Of course he recognized her. He looked up and replied, “That’s Sarae. She’s a visitor from out of country, came here a few months ago before heading into the woods but I haven’t seen her since then.” There was no way he was going to tell them she still came by on occasion to send emails and restock on food; the more he looked at these men the surer Solomon became that those rifles weren’t for hunting deer.

The two men grabbed the paper back and turned to go but before they reached the door Solomon spoke again, his quiet voice taking on a grim authority. “I must warn you gentlemen, if it is violence you seek the forest will not let you get far. It protects its own, and Sarae is most certainly one of its own.”

The men laughed, the bell chimed, and Solomon sighed softly, why didn’t they ever listen? Behind him on the wall, missing posters rustled in the wind from the closing door, and outside in the street, a fog had begun to rise, bringing with it a gentle rain.

The rain whispered down through the trees with a gentle hissing noise. It dripped slowly in bright crystalline drops from the tips of leaves and ran down branches staining the dusky brown bark dark sienna.

The forest is different in the rain, softer and calmer somehow. The usual bustle of life is slowed by the gentle rush of water and the muted silence of the rising fog.

Inside her tent, Sarae watched the rain fall across the treetops. She knew she was safe here, cradled in the branches of one of the forest’s ancient pines. She had built a life here, a home hidden from her past, far enough in nature for her to lose herself, but close enough to civilization for her to keep everyone else. Looking around at the mist-cloaked forest and breathing in the piney air, she felt content.

Far off in the trees a branch snapped, shattering the silence. It was followed by two gunshots and a faint scream, then muted silence once again settled over the forest. A raindrop plopped into Sarae’s coffee and she smiled as the sun began to rise over the trees.

ok so, this is wayyy overdue but since i’m sort of trying to make this a more official writing blog and i thought an intro should be in order!

so first, my name is leah and my pronouns are she/her. i’m also an aquarius (we love to see it) and a ravenclaw :D

also i officially start college this year so yayyy (secretly freaking out)

i like to write just about anything but my favorite genre is probably fantasy/sci-fi and it’s one of my fav genres to read!

tbh i’ve been writing since elementary school but i got into it seriously around my freshman year of high school where i wrote mostly poetry and short stories

this blog mostly consists of me reblogging writing references, advice, and tips. i should also be introducing my wip here as soon as i get my stuff together 😭
