Skyrim be like: as a Dragonborn, it is in your nature to want to dominate, to want to control. You control the world around you with mere words. Your final battle will be against those who share your blood, and have as much of a drive to dominate as you, but they have given in to their evil nature. In order to free the land you must learn words specifically designed to control and dominate others. But within this, is this what you really want to do? Who are you? Are you a “true son of Skyrim” or a loyal imperial? And with that, what fate will you force upon the people of this land? What stars guide your fate? What god or demon do you follow? Is it better to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort? No we will not be expanding on these themes beyond the surface level and you’ll have to heavily infer all of this. Go kill some draugr.
Skyrim NPCs: "HELLO THERE TRAVELER! I LOVE MEAD AND RACISM. HINGA DINGA DURGEN."
Skyrim Quests: "Discover the lost mystery of Frostvein Barrow." (Kill Draugr)
Skyrim Lore:
THE SKY WHALES?

apparently I’m playing skyrim again… and by “playing skyrim” I obviously mean “spending hours installing mods before I ever open the game”

do you ever think before you post
yes, I think “ha! funny” and hit post
I need someone with Skyrim modding capabilities to use their genius skills and make a player home for all the custom voiced followers we know and love. It would be fuckin huge to fit everyone - actually, it might end up being a small village instead of a single house. But can you imagine? A room for everyone decorated based on their individual personalities.
Sorry, my lifelong Dragon Age obsession is showing. I'm in love with the idea of the Dragonborn having a small fucking fortress full of all their friends.
And in this place, I'm picturing just random trinkets and items and notes and books and stuff left in different places by different followers. Everyone's personalities leak out all over the place. Maximum found family goals. Like the LotD museum but tailored around all the LDB's friends and the adventures they go on.
All the artifacts the LDB picks up aren't kept in some secret vault or hidden armory. They're divided amongst the gaggle of nerds following them around.
All those Dwemer artifacts? In Remiel's or Lucien's room. Everything you pick up from the Bard's College mysteriously makes its way to Taliesin's room eventually. Every time you walk near Gore's room, there's a new dog playing with Meeko - or maybe something he picked up from their stint with the Vigilants is sitting around. Not that anyone in the group is eager to relive the Vigilants era. Inigo got his hands on something incredibly dangerous and probably stuck it in a basket in the corner of his room. All the cool alchemical stuff is somewhere around Xelzaz's room. Auri's is a wonderland of Bosmer culture.
The only things locked away in a vault are the Daedric artifacts because no one is fucking with those.
I need this in my life. Omg pls. I know absolutely nothing about modding, and I'm certain I would break everything if I ever tried. But this needs to happen.
Any ideas on what funky doodads and ancient dangerous artifacts would end up in whose room? Share your ideas and expand on this, please. I wanna know
This would be delightful!
TLDB: *introducing Inigo to Nebarra* And this one here is Nebarra; full-time jackass, part-time smart-ass, and he's an equal opportunity racist, too. Funnily enough, he's one of the least sexist people I've met, for a racist. He's also one of the best swordsmen out there, and there's few finer that you could need by your side. Don't kill him if he's being stupid, just be mean to him back or kill him with kindness. He likes it when you're mean to him, and being as sweet as pie is a sure fire way to get under his skin. Take your pick.
Inigo: *taking notes while dreading adventuring with Nebarra, ears flat against his head* I see.
Nebarra: *has whiplash from the insult, compliment, implication sandwich* Hey- what- Did you just imply that I enjoy pain? And also-
TLDB: *shrugging, and cutting him off* Well, I wouldn't go that far. Not enough evidence to make that accusation, after all.
Man I know that elder scrolls is a stupid series and all that but I really think they did concepts like orcs and dark elves mostly correct. More correct than a lot of franchises I’ve seen anyways.
I think dnd took until like this year to properly update drow and orcs or something? Like fantasy as a whole has a hard time shaking off this idea of evil races.
The elder scrolls approach to these guys from the beginning though has been that their cultures are just really different from the other cultures around them.
Like you can hang out in orc strongholds in Skyrim and spend the whole game around dark elves in Morrowind and they’re just regular people that have kind of extreme cultural norms. Dark elves are kind of rude to you when they first meet you but like in the way certain cultures are rude to outsiders at first until they get to know them. Orcs are rough around the edges but they’re smart and have a proud culture and if you can hold your own in a fight they’ll respect you.
And you see these people can blend pretty well into other societies. They join faiths their ancestors didn’t practice, they have jobs that people of their race wouldn’t stereotypically have, they have opinions about what other people assume about them, they have their own wrong assumptions about other cultures.
There’s this understanding somewhere in these games that people are shaped by their cultures but you also can’t predict how an individual will behave based on the culture that they came from. And I like that.
Listen, I love the elder scrolls. It is deep and wide and beautiful. It is also filled with cheese though.
forget elgar'nan and ghilan'nain. forget the blight. forget elven gods. when THE cassandra allegra portia calogera filomena pentaghast finds out that solas killed varric first instead of her, what happened at adamant will seem like child's play. veilguard, a fever dream. that yappy lil dwarf may have been the absolute bane of her existence but he was HER bane. god rest his soul
[Rook voice] maybe if you had some friends you'd calm down 🙄
