MY ROYAL NEMESIS 멋진신세계 (2026) — You grabbed me first.
they're soooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt screeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I've been thinking about the conflict between Joo In-A and Noh Ki-Jun. Some might feel it isn't that serious but it touches on something I struggle with personally so I was surprised to see it in the show.
In-A verbalizes how feeling happy makes her anxious. She self sabotages herself and she wants the person she loves to choose her too. Well, she feels like she doesn't deserve to be selfish and be happy.
It's so contradictory and she acknowledges that.
She ends it with Jae-Yeol because she understands her status and how that can harm him. She rejects him before he can reject her and the look on her face as she walks away, is so pained.
He doesn't call after her. Did you notice? He loves her so much and he doesn't push at her. He doesn't see what she's doing and accepts it. He gets married. He regrets it but he gets married.
Noh Ki-Jun almost did that too. He takes her at face value, when she starts distancing herself. In-A builds her walls back up and decides for him, just like she decided for Jae-Yeol, what is best for him.
The men absolutely have agency as well, and Jae-Yeol uses his agency to get married.
Noh Ki-Jun mopes and has his sister tell him he is an idiot for not looking harder at what In-A is not saying.
People can lie so well to you but their body language and actions can tell you the truth. Doesn't he know In-A? Shouldn't he be able to see through her?
And he realizes it, when he sees the bear in her car. Anyone passing her car would just see a toy but for Ki-Jun, he sees that she does care about him.
And he goes after her. Exactly what she said she wanted.
I'm not saying this is healthy. In-A definitely needs to work through her issues and be better at communicating her feelings, her worries and fears. Nobody can read her mind.
The thing about getting involved with people is that it triggers your insecurities.
In-A grew up as the daughter of a married man and her mother died in an accident. She obviously feels safer when she's miserable and the Art Teacher telling her she seems like she doesn't need the escape that modelling brings her, made her realize how happy she's been ever since Ki-Jun has come into her life.
And that scares her.
HE KEEPS HER ACCOUNTABLE.
I love, loved him sitting her down and asking her about what she did with the investigation. Noh Ki-Jun is exactly the kind of man that she thought he was and he knows she can be better.
He is disappointed in her and she knows that. It makes her uncomfortable, realizing she's been bending her morals to protect her ex.
She has this misguided loyalty to him, that she doesn't need to cling to anymore. I love her telling Jae-Yeol to his face that she will stop taking his side and do what is right.
I really loved last weekend's episodes and how it pushed their growth 👏
The audacity+delusion+selfish combo men possess is truly something.
FILING FOR LOVE - Episode 5
i love the dynamic between ki joon and ah jeong. it's got so much going on, which makes it super yummy.
they're exes who work in the same company, but there's no animosity between them. they're friends, even; even though it's a bit begrudgingly on ki joon's side. ah jeong kind of does whatever she wants with him, just like all the other women in his life, including his other ex (who aggressively comes on to him in the stairwell of their office even though she's about to get married--hey ki joon, maybe stop dating your co-workers?) and all his sisters, and his mom, and now his boss (who he's gonna fall in love with asfghjkl). she's the one who dumped him, but she points out that he had no problem with them breaking up. every guy in their office very openly has the hots for ah jeong, and whenever they're all drooling over her ki joon just stays silent; and they don't speak at work cause ah jeong doesn't want anyone to know they dated.
now for all his competence at work, ki joon is kind of clueless; but you only really start to understand this when ah jeong points out/teases him about how he's never been hated by anyone before, and she has to explain to him that someone either likes you or they don't. i love that she says this, cause it thickens their friendship and throws so much about them into relief--he was the ace on his team, while she's the broody chaebol's secretary; he has his own apartment while she has to crash at his place; he has a warm and welcoming (if loud and overwhelming) family while ah jeong has to turn to him when she runs into trouble instead of turning to family members.
they know each other super well, they're comfortable with each other; there's zero romantic or sexual tension between them; ah jeong is 100% unimpressed by him and he just treats her like any other person, not a hot girl to have wet dreams to (BY THE WAY. asdfghjkl. ki joon is out here having wet dreams about his boss who dresses in oversized power suits and is covered from neck to foot 100% of the time and gives him a hard time at work. only he thinks it's a nightmare. asdfghjkl.); mostly all they do is complain about work and comfortably annoy each other.
by the way, i am obsesssssssssssssssssssssssssed with the way gong myung keeps getting typecast as the guy you'd vote most likely to be cuckolded but he's so fucking hot and unthreatened by women that he just ends up being with a bitchy older woman who's soft on him (see: individualist ms. ji young, second shot at love, filing for love; you could even put way back love here if you have an imagination, which i do). gong myung single-handedly made this archetype and has got the market cornered.
noh ki-jun truly does love it when joo in-a yells at him
Deputy Noh, isn't watching the rotisserie turn mesmerizing?
PURSUIT OF JADE 逐玉 (2026) — Xie Zheng + cheek/neck caresses
there is something so intimate about sitting down and devouring the person you desire with your eyes while your hands try to capture how you see them.
"내가 이렇게 예뻤나?...그러게…예쁘네."
If I had the skills and knowledge, I’d make a fanvid of In Ah and Ki Jun, and set it to the song Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar.
Granted Pehla Nasha is about first love and framed against the backdrop of college, youth, teenage desires etc, but the lyrics of Pehla Nasha are so euphoric and in tune with what Ki Jun is experiencing. It’s that heady intoxication of attraction and love converging, where everything is merging together and you feel like you are floating on air. And all your emotions are so magnified, be they good or devastating.
Let me see if can find a video with the English lyrics translated.
