This week marks my Tumblr-versary, by which I mean this time last year I created an account here for the sole purpose of archiving some further reading I’d collected for my first longfic. A temporary, academic blog of sorts. Clearly, that did not happen, and I spent the last year publicly shaking my ass at Elrond on the internet and being a pain in yours 🫶🏽

To commemorate my roots, I spent 8 hours on the Caledonian Sleeper train last night painstakingly initiating said Elrond, his dramatic eyebrows and politically motivated five o clock shadow into my graphics tablet era.

one thing i love about shen jiu is that people assume the worst of him so you have his wholesome relationship with yingying demonized, and him trying to save liu qingge is seen as a murder attempt so you'd think "surely his abuse of binghe was a misunderstanding like everything else" but thats the one part where shen jiu genuinely tried to murder a 14 year old

I really wish Tolkien had made Carathir x Haleth explicitly canon because we finally would have gotten a mortal x immortal romance where the immortal character is male and the mortal one is female. Let them be the ultimate power couple. Let Carathir be utterly devastated when she dies. Let his watch over her people for the rest of his life in her honor. Or better yet, let his grief kill him. Yes I know it’s thematically pleasing for all of Fëanor’s sons to die due to his oath, but wouldn’t it also be thematically please for Carathir, the guy who’s literally know for being angry all the time, to die of love? Wouldn’t it be just as much of a statement for his death to have absolutely nothing to do with retrieving the Silmarils, which he was always one of the more enthusiastic participants in, and everything to do with the mortal woman he can’t bear to live without?
