I find funny that no one, NO ONE, in the reiwa era is in panic over a giant comet so close to earth that you can see its magnitude at plain sight? I mean, just look at grandpa "yes something bad could happen" in a calm voice while looking at the comet. Yep, I believe no one would be afraid of that huge thing.
Also, I knew they would downplay Inuyasha's and Kagome's powers. Dont surprise there.
The only thing I like of this show is mama!gome and papa!inu, holy shit. I suspected Inuyasha would be full papa with his child since his own childhood was terrible, but seeing him say to his wife and baby stay behind so he will protect both, and then say to kirinmaru's face that he will not allow that he put a finger on Moroha, was so aww. Protective doggo. Protect you wife and your feral puppy.
Also love how supportive they are of Moroha and how vocal they are about it. They keep reassuring her, like kagome say she is kind, acknowledging her soft side, and Inuyasha keep on acknowledging how strong and determined she is. Also the fact they both made her a bow that will suit her better... how better it could have been if they were abble to raise her in that 14 years, stupid sunrise and their stupid non logical decisions.
I know Rumiko did not want to make an Inuyasha 2 with Moroha, at least she did not want to repeat the same story with the main cast and for that gave a free pass to the twins but can we talk how much better would have been if Moroha was the main center of the story(?)
Out of the 3 main girls, Moroha is the most interesting character. She is a shihanyou, a creature never seen nor hear in the main story and not only that, she is the daugther of a powerful hanyou and a priestess, with the power of both sides. It could be so interesting to see how she was able to understand and use her power to go beyond her limits. Not only that, if the separation was a must and if it was executed correctly it could have been a hell of a journey, but what they actually did with her character and inukag was ugh.
I mean, not even the main cast give a fuck what happened to them. Sango and Miroku never make an effort to know what happened, shippo made a search in a passive way and it was him, after 14 years, that told sango what happened to Moroha. Myoga gave a fuck and never said anything to his master's friends. Not even Kohaku nor Kaede made something. Moroha was subject of slavery after being dropped off from Kouga and Ayame's care and then the reason why inukag were trapped was because they would endanger Rin's life? We are talking about the same inukag that did not even want to think about to take Kohaku's fragment because it could kill him.
But again at the first topic, a journey to search for its parents and a better executed Kirinmaru could have been cheff kiss if the serie not retconed enemies from the manga, not used the shikon, not zero, for fuck sake what a waste of screenplay, and if the story followed the goal of a narcisistic egocentric villain that even his love for his daughter made nothing to atone his powerhungry career to the point of killing her himself...
I dont know, there are so better twists that could have been more interesting than the current story.

i know almost nothing about inuyasha, how is inukag not a minor/adult ship? not trying to be rude or argue, i am just curious and only have age info from wiki. Too lazy to read/watch...
Because the mangaka, Takahashi Rumiko said, Inuyasha is 15 and ages at the same rate as Kagome. The whole, “Inuyasha is 150/250+” comes from Sunrise in one of the non-canon movies.
So if anything, Inuyasha is chronologically 65 (since he was 15 when he got sealed the the tree and was asleep in stasis for 50 years), but when Kagome unseals Inuyasha, he is still physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically 15, the same age as Kagome. There is no age gap, and since Takahashi Rumiko confirms Inuyasha and Kagome age at the same rate, there will never be an age gap. But more importantly, Kagome and Inuyasha are equals in their relationship without there being a major power imbalance or one of them helping to care for/raise the other when one was a young child.

This is the finished version of the WIP I posted a couple weeks ago. I love the Yunmeng sibs with my whole heart, so I poured in a bunch of the techniques into this piece that I personally enjoy best. I’m particularly pleased with the ripple pattern on Yanli’s and Jiang Cheng’s robes, which was hand-drawn by me! (Somewhat unusual, since I mostly work with paper that I find/buy, rather than ones I make myself.)

Ummm. I dont know about the rest of latin america, but in Chile this did not happen. I can't really say that this happen exactly like they up there on other countries. But I am sure that part of the problems are their own governments and their lack of prevision over this or disorganization in their vaccination schedule.

Yes, that is the reason I said what I said. In my country when all this started, government put all its effort to ship on vaccines, a variety of them, pfizer, coronavac, sinovac, so there would be at least more than one option for us and that way secure the vaccination for all, the same way, there are some countries that had issues (to my knowledge) like not taking negotiations and focusing in only one vaccine or have problems with their vaccination calendar.

Sad, immature girls no one takes seriously. Girls who are taught that it’s shameful to be excited or passionate about anything, that it’s pathetic to gush about what attracts them, that it’s wrong to be a geek, that they should feel embarrassed about having a crush, that they’re not allowed to gaze or stare or wish or desire. Girls who need to grow out of it.
That’s the art you mean, right?
Because in my experience, when grown men make it, nobody calls it fanart. They just call it art. And everyone takes it very seriously.
It’s interesting though — the culture of shame surrounding adult women and fandom. Even within fandom it’s heavily internalized: unsurprisingly, mind, given that fandom is largely comprised by young girls and, unfortunately, our culture runs on ensuring young girls internalize *all* messages no matter how toxic. But here’s another way of thinking about it.
Sports is a fandom. It requires zealous attention to “seasons,” knowledge of details considered obscure to those not involved in that fandom, unbelievable amounts of merchandise, and even “fanfic” in the form of fantasy teams. But this is a masculine-coded fandom. And as such, it’s encouraged - built into our economy! Have you *seen* Dish network’s “ultimate fan” advertisements, which literally base selling of a product around the normalization of all consuming (male) obsession? Or the very existence of sports bars, built around the link between fans and community enjoyment and analysis. Sport fandom is so ingrained in our culture that major events are treated like holidays (my gym closes for the Super Bowl) — and can you imagine being laughed at for admitting you didn’t know the difference between Supernatural and The X Files the way you might if you admit you don’t know the rules of football vs baseball, or basketball?
“Fandom” is not childish but we live in a culture that commodified women’s time in such away that their hobbies have to be “frivolous,” because “mature” women’s interests are supposed to be marriage, family, and overall care taking: things that allow others to continue their own special interests, while leaving women without a space of their own.
So think about what you’re actually saying when you call someone “too old” for fandom. Because you’re suggesting they are “too old” for a consuming hobby, and I challenge you to answer — what do you think they should be doing instead?

This whole modern approach is also seriously undermining just how important fanfiction is - from a historical standpoint.
The concept of fanfiction formed and forged the earliest stages of literature in Europe. Because the majority of authors in France, Germany and Great Britain looked at that funky little Celtic dude Arthur and thought “hey, he’s neat. I wanna write about him”.
The entire concept of a book outside of religious purposes was born out of fanfiction in my country.
There is no “first canon” for Arthur where he came as the prince of Camelot, with his sidekicks Lancelot and Merlin and his endgame love interest Gwen.
Arthur was some random hunter when he started out.
Someone’s fanfiction made him a prince.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him a round table.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him Merlin at his side.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him Morgana, gave him Gwen, gave him his swords.
And, to this day, we still write Arthurian fanfiction. Literally last year there was a movie adaptation that is, by all intends and purposes, fanfiction, because it wasn’t even close to a literal adaptation of the source material (The Kid Who Would Be King). Heck, BBC’s Merlin, itself an Arthurian fanfiction, remains one of the biggest fandoms that people today write for on AO3.
You were a joke in the middle ages if you tried to write your own stuff. Who’s interested in your stuff? You were only a respected author if you wrote fanfiction. The most famous medieval German authors are famous because they wrote fanfiction about some knightly OCs they created who served on Arthur’s court. That is the literary legacy of the middle ages. Arthurian fanfiction.
Yet somewhere along the way, this concept of “I find x story/element cool and want to elaborate on it more, shift the focus onto an aspect of this original source material” has gotten this “eh, it’s fanfiction” connotation and lost respect.
Even though this very concept is still being used - even outside of the actual medium of fanfiction - and it is still being used for the very same purpose it was used for in medieval times. Original movies often don’t get as much recognition as adaptations of existing source material that the audience is familiar with. People see a movie about a character they’re familiar with and seem more inclined to buy a ticket to see the 10th new interpretation of Batman or Superman or Snow White. How are these new interpretations of familiar source material that usually add to the lore, reinterpret characterizations and dynamics, any different from fanfiction?
But heaven forbid we call The Dark Knight Nolan’s Batman fanfiction. No, fanfiction is that silly thing that we can’t take seriously, but that new Joker movie, that however is high-end art.
SO IMPORTANT
This. Fanfiction is variations on an existing theme, simultaneously making use of and satisfying people’s existing love for a story that they’re happy to consume more of, and cultivating the synergy between an existing story/mythos and a new author who, in interacting with characters they’d never have created themselves, creates something that neither they nor any of the story’s previous tellers could have made all by themselves.
Fanfiction is the new whole being greater than the sum of its parts, and fanfiction is the story being made limitless, retelling by retelling, and it is wonderful.
It’s also worth noting that Batman himself only came into being because of The Scarlet Pimpernel, a series of books about an extravagantly rich foppish playboy by day, daring hero in disguise by night (I mean, loosely. He also fopped by night and heroed by day, but you get my drift). Written by a woman no less.
Batman is a transformative work with a modernised crime-fighting SP but also borrowing strongly from earlier comic books, and yet it is seen as definitive.
Coming back here to say that I think the derision for fanart also has some of its roots in our capitalist hellscape.
It’s the age old “If thing not make you money, why you care about thing?” that’s so prevalent in the system. Of course some people do make money with their fanart, but I think that is still part of the scorn.
It’s supposed to be something you do not just for fun, but for practice, people like this think. Once you’re good at it, you can drop it and make money by focusing on your OCs and original work!

Awhile ago I saw you say that you think Sumisawa makes inuyasha oc sometimes. And I was wondering if you could expand on your thoughts? In what instances did you think he made inuyasha oc? love your blog btw !!
I did say Sumisawa, but I mean Sunrise writers in general tbh. I know that Sumisawa wrote the movies but I’m not sure which episodes he was a writer on, but I’m still going to list examples from the anime, movies and Yashahime to explain what I mean!
1. Inuyasha’s desire to become full demon
One thing that really bothered me in the anime is how they really dragged the whole “Inuyasha wants to use the jewel to become a full-demon”. In the manga in chapter 94 when he learns the truth about the jewel origin’s and how it always creates a cycle of violence, he essentially decides to end the cycle:
In episode 26 they didn’t include that part, Inuyasha doesn’t understand the danger of the jewel and says once again that he wants to use it for himself, which turns into a joke because Midoriko’s barrier yeets him out of the cave for being selfish:
I noted in my rewatch that there are other instances of this, specifically in episode 36 and 44, where Inuyasha mentions wanting to become a full demon when in the manga he doesn’t say that. It’s also a huge plot point in the second movie, when he says he’s only staying a half-demon “for a while” because of Kagome:
I know a lot of inukag shippers find this line romantic, but it doesn’t make sense at that point in the series. The second movie is supposed to take place after episode 95, and Inuyasha CLEARLY gave up on becoming a full demon because he transformed and killed humans in episode 52. He says in episode 52-53 / chapter 187-188 that he doesn’t want to transform anymore:
Also the whole point of the Ryūkotsusei arc right after this (episode 53-54) was that Inuyasha was able to surpass his father by mastering Tessaiga instead of relying on his demon blood… and as far as I can remember, that was pretty much the end of the discussion about him becoming full-demon.
2. Inuyasha is more cruel
There’s a few times in the anime where Inuyasha threatens to kill people instead of beating them. For example in episode 29 vs chapter 107:
That scene is especially weird because in the next chapter Inuyasha empathizes with Sango, says he understands why she can’t hate Kohaku because he feels the same way regarding Kikyo. And he literally says he doesn’t want to kill Kohaku, only wake him up…
Or there’s that scene in chapter 129 where Totosai reveals that Inuyasha is not cold-hearted and didn’t actually want to kill Sesshomaru:
Instead in the anime they talk as if Inuyasha really intended on killing Sesshomaru, they only mention that Inuyasha was “swinging his sword around” and that Tenseiga protected Sesshomaru:
3. Inuyasha being rude to Kagome
In most filler content Inuyasha is so unnecessarily rude to Kagome. An example from the first movie vs chapter 392:
Another example is episode 96. Here Jinenji talks about how kind and accepting Kagome is… and Inuyasha says this:
She sits him after that and he’s like “You see!” but like.. The last time they saw Jinenji, Inuyasha opened up to Kagome about his past and he realized she was his home… It makes no sense for Inuyasha to even jokingly say that Kagome is cruel when she’s the first person to fully accept him as a half demon since his mother 🤨
In comparison in chapter 460, Inuyasha literally says that Kagome has a pure heart (because she always saves Kikyo despite her jealousy):
Also in episode 129 he implies that Kagome is ugly?? Even though they are clearly dating at that point…

4. Inuyasha “doesn’t know how to express his feelings”
Sunrise writers are under the impression that Inuyasha is incapable of expressing how he feels… It’s what they say in Yashahime episode 15:
Which was a super weird line. What do you mean he’s “bad at showing how he truly feels”? Inuyasha from early on in the series, sure. But Inuyasha post-canon when he’s married? Did they forget about the whole “Kagome taught me how to smile […] how to make friends, how to shed tears for others…” ?? I would argue that Inuyasha is very open about his emotions toward the end of the series:
He’s also not as tsundere as Sunrise believe he is… In episode 90 he’s having a heart attack at the idea of him being in love with Kagome…
When as early as chapter 78 he was pretty much admitting his feelings to Kagome herself… (read from right to left)
This one is BY FAR Sunrise’s worse offense. This 15 year old boy is grieving the death of his first love, he has severe survivor’s guilt, but he’s still trying to move on and be happy with this girl who is healing his soul. Sunrise really thought it was a good idea to remove this ENTIRE scene, and replace it with this:
aaaand this is how you end up with 20 years of discourse and people calling Inuyasha a “cheater” and a “two-timer” 🙃
5. Inuyasha being 200 years old
I don’t have much to say about this, except that Sumisawa is solely responsible for the mess that is Inuyasha’s age. There is no mention of Inuyasha being older than he looks in the manga, except for this one line in chapter 3 where he says he probably wouldn’t be old after 50 years unlike Kikyo. He never mentions being alive for centuries, Rumiko doesn’t mention it either in interviews & blogposts when she’s asked about his age and his aging process. It’s just not an issue that’s ever brought up in canon or from Word of God, and yet Sumisawa thought it was a good idea to mention that Inuyasha is 200 years old in the third movie, without considering how much that affects his character… A real mess that also lead to years of discourse 🙃
Anyway, that is all I can think of for now. There’s probably more examples because I stopped my rewatch around the band of seven arc and I haven’t rewatched movie 3 and 4 recently, but I’m sure this gives you an idea of why I don’t really trust Sumisawa and Sunrise writers in general when it comes to writing Inuyasha.
This is excellent. Sunrise was screwing up characterizations far before Yashahime, and Inuyasha was probably the biggest victim there. Manga Inuyasha…we love manga Inuyasha.
Great example of why the original usually always beats out the adaptations. My favorite characterizations of the Inuyasha crew will always be the ones drawn from the manga.

A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

Tolkien were lecturing there, Lewis magnificently and Tolkien badly and inaudibly, and the climate of opinion was such that people explained Lewis’s children’s books by saying ‘It’s his Christianity, you know,’ as if the books were the symptom of some disease, while of Tolkien they said he was wasting his time on hobbits when he should have been writing learned articles…
I imagine I caused Tolkien much grief by turning up to hear him lecture week after week, while he was trying to wrap his lectures up after a fortnight and get on with The Lord of the Rings (you could do that in those days, if you lacked an audience, and still get paid). I sat there obdurately despite all his mumbling and talking with his face pressed up to the blackboard, forcing him to go on expounding every week how you could start with a simple quest-narrative and, by gradually twitching elements as it went along, arrive at the complex and entirely different story of Chaucer’s Pardoner’s Tale – a story that still contains the excitement of the quest-narrative that seeded it. What little I heard of all this was wholly fascinating.
