I feel like I need to say once again that DEAN KNEW HE WAS IN LOVE WITH CAS. Guys. He carried Cas's trench coat in his car. He gave Cas a mixtape!!! HE PRACTICALLY FUCKING CONFESSED IN PURGATORY VIA PRAYER!!! But he didnt think Cas loved him back. After he gave Cas the mixtape he used it as a way to get into Deans room so he could steal the colt!! Kinda cheapens the romantic gesture. The deal was sealed for him after the purgatory confession too. Cas just said "i heard your prayer" Dean was sure Cas knew what the prayer meant and yet he was giving Dean nothing, and hey! You dont need to tell him more then twice, if Cas wasnt interested then thats what it was. Not worth loosing a friendship over.
Okay, but imagine Cas's confession scene with all that in mind
Imagine Dean staring at Cas as he pours his heart out, thinking, "Is he being serious right now? 'Something I want but know I can't have'"
And it just does flashbacks to all their time together
And Dean blurts out "You're telling all the flirting I did for 12 years flew over your head????"
Billy stops pounding on the door
the Empty pauses just as it shows itself through the wall
Cas stands there and slow blinkss at Dean "You were what?"
"The 'Blow me' thing?"
"you were being rude and vulgar"
"'Last person who looked at me like that, I got laid'??"
"I assumed it was a sarcastic challenge."

"... I thought those prayers were an attempt to lure me back like bait"
