/r/choosingbeggars is the only good Subreddit I’ve decided
This is one of the best ones I’ve found from there
Damn you’re right
There was one where someone was giving away a free couch and someone sent them a message saying “My friend is giving away a couch AND an ottoman. Do you have any other free furniture to sweeten the pot?”
My favorite ultra-specific character type is "this fucked up little man clearly just needs a consensual BDSM relationship and some therapy and he'd be fine, but that is very much not what happens in this story."
picture tim with a corporate ass twitter account ("Tim D. Wayne. 30 Under 30 luminary and head of the Neon Knights division of Wayne Enterprises. He/Him."). it's obviously run by a pr team most of the time, because while tim is passionate about his neon knights work, he's a redditor at heart and cannot be assed to be on twitter on a day to day basis. so, you know, his corporate ass twitter page mostly is just
corporate ass tweet about neon knights work
corporate ass tweet about a different wayne enterprise announcement
update on a neon knights project milestone
corporate ass tweet congratulating a different wayne enterprises team on a milestone
corporate ass "happy pride" or whatever time of year post
you get the idea.
so now that you have this picture in mind, walk with me a second. because it's generally run by some pr guy at wayne enterprises and tim doesn't care, but there is the rare occasion when tim himself does log on.
now, picture tim's corporate ass twitter getting suspended for telling a supernova hater to kill themself,
Young Hero Sent On A Quest meets other young heroes also sent on various quests—only to discover they're all being used as free child labor by the same flaky wizard as a scam to collect magical artifacts.
the Young Heroes' collective new "Quest" is now to Unionize.....
actually this is funnier if there are multiple wizards involved. the 12-year-olds combine their knowledge and realize the wizards are operating as a unified corporate entity...so then of course they have to go on a Quest To Meet The Monarch to ask the Crown to rule on this previously undeclared power bloc. which in a feudal fantasy world causes all sorts of political intrigue! none of it good
so then we've got corporate executive wizards facing off against royal anti-monopoly legal teams. meanwhile the aforementioned 12-year-olds are standing by pissed off and chewing popcorn (and hoarding undeclared magical artifacts they may or may not collectively vote to use as ammunition to fuel a revolutionary uprising). the!! possibilities!!!!!!
Just finished hamlet & had to share THIS

AU where Anakin listens to Fives and Palpa-bitch is killed. Ahsoka is being knighted so Anakin makes the best possible decision for his babies.

when a character says "please don't do this" and they're begging: 🥺
when a character says "please don't do this" as a warning:
feels like a real step back that with all the sexual freedom available to us we moved to Hookup Culture instead of Having Sex With Friends Culture

Immigration doesn't cause crime rates to increase, according to a new study. But false perceptions endure anyway.
Studying a country whose proportion of migrants has tripled in less than ten years, the researchers found immigration significantly affects people’s perceptions of crime but has no effect on actual crime.
“Many people seem to believe a connection exists between crime and immigration. We wanted to explore why this is the case, by looking at the example of Chile, a country recently exposed to a massive influx of immigrants,” says Nicolas Ajzenman, a professor of economics at McGill University.
“In Chile, migrants represented close to 6.5% of the population in 2018. Not only did the magnitude change, but also the composition of immigrants changed strongly in recent years, with the arrival of people from Venezuela and Haiti, a trend is similar to other Latin American countries,” he says.
The researchers found that people who are more exposed to immigration inflows are more likely to rank crime as their biggest concern. They’re more likely to believe that crime is affecting their quality of life, and more likely to believe that they will be a victim of a crime soon.
However, those citizens weren’t any more likely to have been victims of any crime in the previous months. Nor did the number of homicides grow disproportionately in the municipalities where they live, according to the researchers.

Wow what a SCIENTIFIC study!
Social Sciences are SCIENCE.
friend made my birthday cake
Very important addition
every child should have a specific stuffed animal/toy that they develop an antagonistic relationship with
some of my most significant core memories involved getting into heated arguments with the furby who lived in my closet. essential component of my pre-teen character development. necessary anguish
sometimes small children will inflict years of torment & waterboarding on their victims before burying them in an unmarked concrete grave, that's just part of growing up
the post that keeps on giving (via @zenyeetaa):
#okay we weren’t children when we did this but me and some old roommates kept a baby doll in the freezer #at first it was to jump scare the next person who opened the freezer #but he was in there for a few months and then when we decided it was time to pull it out a bunch of fires broke out across our county #so we put him back in the freezer. we named him chippy and drew a mustache on his face #we tried pulling him out of the freezer a few times after that but some horrible event would happen every time without fail #when we moved apartments we had a special cooler to bring chippy with us #as far as i know chippy is still in a freezer somewhere
no more historic events this decade that is ENOUGH, i’m putting my foot down
History is not done with us yet my friend
I have received all manner of threat, up to and beyond “I will play a flute carved from your femur,” and yet this is the first time I’ve felt truly threatened
i knew posting this in 2022 was risky but holy fucking shit
I think that “Anakin was a slave child who was groomed by Palpatine and raised by someone who wasn’t ready to take on a child, thereby leaving him in a social limbo state where he’s surrounded by people but only has a few close confidants, with the one he trusts the most actively trying to take advantage of him”
and
“Anakin was taught right from wrong from a young age, first by his mother and then by Kenobi, but any time he was presented with a choice, actively CHOSE WRONG EVERY SINGLE TIME”
are two sentences that can, should, and MUST coexist to fully understand Anakin Skywalker as a character
Edit: PART 2 of this post here
Obi-Wan Kenobi is the type of character whose death never made me sad, it was a relief, an ending.
Watching his life however is like watching someone fall down the stairs, recover, get up just to do it all again, meanwhile you're just screaming at him that there's an elevator right next to him.
