@yikesy
in a way i am my own dead wife
i've been watching some videos of the early parts of amphoreus' arc. and
something that actually drives me insane is the gentleness in mydei's character VS the rage in phainon's
because while they both long for different, kinder lives, mydei is still more likely to try and reason with an enemy (or to not attack them in the first place) than phainon is
this isn't to say phainon doesn't know what diplomacy is, because he does! he knows how to use words, which was literally shown to us in the game. they were pretty straight forward about it
but phainon is also such an unquestionably angry person. ever since he lost aedes elysiae and everyone inside it, he's been craving revenge. he will, of course, always decide upon the path that saves more people if given the chance. but his first reaction to many things seems to be to fight first, ask questions later — and it ties into the way he wants to make the flame reaver pay for what he did to his family and friends
it's a nice contrast to mydei's character. while phainon seems like a stable, charming individual but has more issues repressed than hairs on his head, mydei gives off the impression of a bloodthirsty barbarian who doesn't know what emotions are, and instead is a more gentle person who wishes nothing more than to end the meaningless violence that plagues his life
i think phainon probably admires — and maybe even envies — this trait of mydei's. the way he can think reasonably and restrain (lol) himself from attacking while still being so undeniably strong and willing to defend himself if needed. the way he can both cook meals for his loved ones, and with the same hands, slaughter any enemy that threatens him or his loved ones
phainon feels so much shame over how he is. he feels the need to be the perfect hero (to not want anything for himself and be the best version of the deliverer at all times), because it's what's expected of him, because cyrene wanted him to be. but he's such a flawed person, and he's still a human being. and after having watched his childhood friends turning into horrible monsters, after being forced to kill them himself...
i don't think he believes himself to be worthy of the title. not just of the deliverer, but also the one of a person. he's supposed to be an ideal, something to strive upon, not a scared little kid with a rusty sword in his hand
he's kind, nice, likeable. he knows he is. but it's not enough, to him. sometimes he feels like his kindness is too difficult for him to give
but mydei gets along with children. mydei is a good caregiver. mydei is constantly swarmed by chimeras when he visits the garden of life. kindness is easy to him. (maybe khaslana wonders why it isn't his primary module instead of restraint)
mydei attacks when necessary. mydei doesn't enjoy violence, even against titankin. mydei fights because there are people who can't. mydei is an honorable warrior, both soft and invincible. who wouldn't want to be like him?
i'm about 99% sure that, while anyone else would strive to be like phainon, phainon wants nothing more than to be more like mydei
(yes, in a gay way)
it's also shown in the way mydei doesn't want to be Strife, but ends up becoming it, while phainon wanted to take over that responsibility (for mydei, partly), but ends up without any coreflame to call his own
ough idk they make me ill
Apollo angst and TOA animation!! (I should probably go read that series now lol...)
The sun god <3
“…to me” is one of the most powerful disclaimers we have on here… is this character analysis accurate? debatable. but it’s real… to me.
Individual upload bc I want this to actually show under the tag lol
also can I just say the entire concept/idea of newpollo is so so horrifying and so so cool and interesting and insane I’m immediately obsessed with it
hehe >:) it's the only logical conclusion i could reach to the "What If Apollo Actually Freaking Died" question toa so shockingly forced me to consider
I actually have no fucking clue how zeus spun this to the other gods bc this is batshit, like if you're doing this we might as well just declare independence or live it up in the other pantheons, like, clearly nothing is sacred and anything goes
You have the most insanely good takes on the meta narrative of godhood and it’s so intriguing Jesus christ
THE BELIEF SYSTEM HAS THE SINGLE MOST INTERESTING AND UNNERVING IMPLICATIONS AND I THINK IT'S VERY IMPORTANT
BACK AT YOUR BULLSHIT AGAIN 🗣️ GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK
BACK IN MY BULLSHIT!!!
rrverse apollo textposts bc I missssss himmm
I really like the little detail of Chiron usually being the one to announce a demigod once they’ve been claimed but the moment Apollo arrived in camp he took over the role so smoothly which really establishes him as the patron god for camp half blood plus he worded it exactly like Chiron so he probably taught the centaur how to do it which is so 😫😫😫
Hang on guys im experiencing revelations
Started off with some normal observations that I was struggling to connect. And then. Um.
I don t know
Forgive me for still be harping on this, I’m still processing the whole “Spamton and Tenna used to be a canon couple” thing but man. Their arguments must have been crazy. Like, extremely theatrical guy who speaks with the cadence and volume of a game show host vs guy who speaks like an infomercial presenter and has advertised nothing but scams and risqué websites for most of his life. Neither of them particularly normal in the head. You could probably hear them from across the street.
“And now for tonight’s big question! What could possibly have made Spamton forget that Mr. ‘Ant’ Tenna’s 🎂BIRTHDAY🎂 was today?? A: He’d forget where he left his nose if it wasn’t stuck to his face? B: All he thinks about is business, business, business? Or C: It slipped his mind when he was making G👀-G👀 EYES at that Shadowguy HUSSY who brought him his latte yesterday? He has 3🕒 SEC🕒NDS to answer or he’ll be sleeping on the couch, folks! What will it be!?”
“Great question, Ant, but lemme ask you this: Have you ever lost track of time because you’re up to your nose in work?? Is your partner always too busy choosing if he’ll wear the maroon suit or the vermillion suit to lend you a hand with the sponsors?? No?? Then you gotta try our newest product: MY SHOES!!! Walk a mile in them for once in your life and, for just $0.99 extra, you’ll get a sample of our all-natural CHILL PILL supplements!!”
I think a big part of the rampant apollo mischaracterization in the wider fandom is that they like, miss the biggest thing that colors his interactions. MODERN APOLLO IS A RAGEBAITER!!!
idk if im being delusional but every legend of apollo throughout the pjo series portrays him winning all his battles through muscles. A huge example is in percy jackson and the greek gods where percy says apollo shot python in one hit then boogied the end but we know that didnt actually happen as stated in apollo's pov. I feel like a lot of his battles were won when he used his brain power (and sometimes sgeer dumb luck). Instead of trying to beat up Orion he drove him mad and then the giant killed himself by trying to kill a scorpion.
Which makes me think apollo painted himself as a himbo bimbo to appear harmless to his dearest dad, cuz every myth of him in actual lore (in which he acts ridiculously smart in) is dumbed down in pjo but is hinted to not be like that in toa. In the illiad apollo was the only god on troy's side to not act stupid and humiliate himself. not even artemis was spared.
Anyways apollo is really smart but acts stupid maybe to not trigger zeus also i think all blonds and blondes are canonically smart in the pjo verse ty for coming to my stupid ted talk.

Apollo was not an absent dad pre ToA oh my fucking gods
we know this because in BoO Will says this:
‘We don’t know what’s going on at Delphi,’ Will continued. ‘My dad hasn’t answered any prayers, or appeared in any dreams … I mean, all the gods have been silent, but this isn’t like Apollo. Something’s wrong.’
(page 133-134. xiii, Nico)
'but this isn't like Apollo'
WHICH MEANS HE TYPICALLY ANSWERS PRAYERS AND APPEARS IN DREAMS.
and in TLO we get told Michael's sonic arrows are a gift from Apollo:
"A gift from your dad?" I asked. "God of music?" Michael grinned wickedly. "Loud music can be bad for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't always kill."
(page 172, chapter 11, WE BREAK A BRIDGE)
and in ToA none of his children seem to hold any ill will towards him and he's very loving towards them from first sight.
So I think we can conclude that he was not a bad parent pre redemption. (to this generation of demigods at least.)
