There’s something so powerful about Dean and Cas’ relationship. The only reason Dean went to hell is because of a writers strike. They had to create Castiel to rescue Dean from a plotline that never was supposed to happen. Castiel was never supposed to happen. Regardless, we meet Castiel, an angel, who only supposed to be in 3 episodes. Fans loved him so much, they decide to keep him for longer. And throughout the next few season, they still try to kill Cas off, but they fans still demand that they keep Cas. Throughout those past seasons, there are some gay jokes sprinkled in about Dean and Cas, because this is the CW. LGBT fans take these jokes, and make it their own. They take what was supposed to be a cheap laugh, and give it meaning. When the show is losing ratings and faces the possibility of being cancelled, it’s the destiel shippers who come in, getting the show saved. Over the next few seasons, Dean and Castiel’s relationship changes from jokes to actual subtext. Destiel grew to be one of the most popular ships ever, having the most fics on ao3. The show can literally not control it. Every effort to squash it is met with so much backlash, they have to give in. Now it’s season 15. They decide to go with canon destiel. They film it. The execs still try to kill it, erasing dean’s whole side of the confession, and possibly more in the finale. And yet, the truth still comes out. Dean and Cas’ relationship rises from the ashes, despite the cw’s attempt to silence them. Destiel is ours. It has always been ours. It started with people protesting tv executive companies, and it ends with protesting executive companies. And the fact that it was successful. That it defied all odds. That’s incredible. Destiny, if you will

Hey y'all! I have finished the epilogue for Nothing But You On My Mind! It’s been sent to @dearlou to beta and I’m finishing up my last bit of editing. I’ve scheduled the posting date for September 28th at 6pm.  

I’ve been trying to think of bigger ways to help out organizations that are fighting for civil rights right now, and thus decided to do a fundraiser of sorts. I will take a day (or portion of a day) off of the posting date for every donation that’s made to Brave Space Alliance - a Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ Center located on the South Side of Chicago. Below the cut is more info. If anyone who read and enjoyed the fic could reblog this to get the word out, I’d appreciate it!
