I have got a serious question about how time works in LOT. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, like everything about it, I love the stories, the characters, the actors, the LGBT representation. But I get so confused every time they say that someone can’t make it in time. Like when Ava mentioned she wanted to spend Thanksgiving with Sara, but Sara couldn’t make it because she’s working overtime. Which would be a perfectly valid excuse if time-travel did not exist. But now Sara might be working overtime, but She Is Working Overtime On A Freaking TIMESHIP.

All I can say is this, I never even knew the word dyke was a slur. It may be because im not american and it may be an american thing idk. So that’s probably why I feel so underwhelmed by Caity using it. But even so, death threats, saying she should have gotten punched in the face? I’m so tired of our community doing these kinda things every time someone who says they’re an ally slip up. 

Yes, I get it cause I was batshit angry over the Jeremy Jordan and Melissa song thing but let’s be real here, that too was also blown way the fuck outta proportion. We gotta stop doing shit like that when our allies screw up. The fact of the matter is this, they are just that, allies. Sometimes they won’t know when they did shit wrong because they’re not in the fandom, they’re not a part of the lgbt community, they dont understand how a certain word or action could hurt us because they’ve never lived it, never been through it irl. 

It is our job to educate them to ensure that they dont do it again. Not to send them death threats and fucking curse them out and want to deck them in the face. But to tell them in a calm, respectful manner that what they did was kinda uncool, explain why and hopefully they get it, apologize and continue being a great ally. Yall clearly dont know how to do any of that.

The Caity Lotz thing at ClexaCon has me so angry and it’s not because of what was said but it’s how people on here are reacting. Caity Lotz has been such a great ally and has fought for her character on a network that has been problematic and homophobic. When Lexa died, Caity basically called the CW out despite the fact that she could lose her job. When she said the d-word, she was quoting what someone else said about her character. It is not a big deal at all. She is someone that has proven to be sweet and supportive and willing to learn. Instead of saying “hey that wasn’t cool, don’t say that word” people are acting like Caity is the worst person to have ever existed and that she’s trash and sending her all sorts of hate.

We have got to stop treating allies like this. They are people just like we are. They are capable to being ignorant and making mistakes like we are. We’ve got to stop acting like we’re better than everyone. I am a cis white lesbian. I have accidentally misgendered people. I have had attitudes that I didn’t realize were racist but were. I am guilty of so many things but luckily I’m not a celebrity so I was allowed to learn and correct myself.

I am so tired of negativity. I am so tired of having to hate everyone for every mistake they have ever made. I hate this attitude that the gay fandom, especially lesbian fandoms have, that we only stan people who never make mistakes and are perfect 100% of the time. I have made so many mistakes. The “perfect” allies and actresses you stan have probably made mistakes that you haven’t seen. Let things go and calm down. Realize that there is a difference between problematic behavior and accidents born of ignorance.
