vacation
When you take a few days off from patrol, it takes a couple days to start feeling good. Your constant hyperawareness decreases. The sleep cycle goes back to normal. The thousand small irritants of a patrol shift are absent from your weekly routine. But after about ten days or so, there's an itch. It creeps up in the back of your mind. You miss your crew, your squad, your boys. You wanna get out there again and crush crime, have fun. You miss the adrenaline. It's that feeling, of being the police, that you want back. You understand why so few people leave the job, and a lot of those that do don't make it long outside of it. Because in spite of all the frustration, you're the police, and it's hard to be something else.
