My 13 year old cousin came back from a date with her boyfriend and said, "I can't wait to grow up and spend sunday afternoons with him." At first, I wanted to laugh (after all they're just 13), but I remember being 13 and having the world in my hands. I remember getting excited to talk to someone about my dreams and wishes, and how happy these daydreams and fantasies made me. There's this innocence you can only have at 13 and the world rises and falls and crashes and burns every year... until you do not think about quiet sunday afternoons.
So I asked her about the date and heard her giggle about bubblegum flavored ice cream, and how much she loves this little life. I think she makes me love it too.

being known is being loved
"i know your pizza order" "you have freckles on your ears" "you make this face when you're tired" "you order green tea on a good day black on a bad day" "you always make that face before you try something" "the tips of your ears turn red when you're angry" "i knew you'd say something" "you must be exhausted to miss the class" "your favorite pie is pumpkin, right?" "i know your phone number, don't worry" "you miss me, i can tell" "you fiddle with your pens when you're bored" "you don't like converse unless they're high tops" "your favorite cereal is cinnamon toast crunch and you first ate it when you were 8"
being known is being loved.

can we all agree that pressing foreheads together is an underrated act of affection??
Why is it always something?
Like it’s literally always fucking something…………….I can’t go a week without there being something
After reading a book, does anyone feel sad about leaving the book?
Because after spending several days reading it, and getting to know and love the characters—somehow when I finish it I fear leaving behind the story even though it continues. Like when you spent several days with a person and when it’s time to part you feel sad because you won’t see that person everyday even though you will see them eventually. Does anyone feel like that, or is it just me?
is everyone who reblogged this okay?
no
My piece for Light Grey Art Lab’s Arboretum show! Prints can be purchased from Light Grey’s website. Hoping to do a few more of these greenhouse studies. There are some real stunners out there.

You’re able to call your parents “Mom” and “Dad”. They were not born with those names.
You’re able to call your teachers “Mr” or “Mrs” and their last name. You’d get in trouble if you addressed them by first name.
You’re able to call a celebrity by their chosen stage name.
You’re able to call your friends a shortened version of their name, their middle name instead of their first, or a completely random nickname.
You’re able to call a married woman by her husband’s last name, even though she was not born with that last name.
But when someone’s transgender, how does calling them by a name they were not born with somehow become a hassle?
