Art and a preview on a ZackSeph fanfic I’m working on.

Zack leans into Sephiroth’s personal space. His fingers travel across the edge the taller man’s finely sculpted jawline until he can tangle them in that mass of glorious silver hair that he will always long to touch. Sephiroth tilts his head nuzzling into the caress, as his eyes flutter shut again. Zack finds it amazing how Sephiroth is always more affectionate when he’s just barely awake from one of his rare afternoon naps.

“Wakey wakey, Sephy baby.” he murmurs, kissing the tip of Sephiroth’s nose softly. “Nap time’s over, it’s Zack time now.” he dips low again intent on leaving more kisses on Sephiroth’s face. But before he could, Sephiroth’s hand has come up to not so gently shove his face away.

“You’re an idiot , never call me by that ridiculous nickname again.” The look on his face would have been enough to make grown men flee. But Zack had thrown caution and self-preservation out the window the moment he fell in love with Sephiroth. So he takes Sephiroth’s hand away from his face, entwining their fingers together, and places a kiss to the back of Sephiroth’s hand.

“Yeah, but I’m your idiot. Besides, you love me.” Zack grins down at Sephiroth, smug in the fact that he knows it’s true. Sephiroth chuckles a little, the sound rumbling through his chest and sending shivers down Zack’s spine. He doesn’t need Sephiroth to say anything. The soft look that’s taken over his face is all the confirmation Zack needs.

“There it is” Zack thinks. That is his smile. The genuine one reserved for Zack alone. No one else gets to see this side of him but Zack. The kind of smile that makes butterflies erupt in his stomach, and sends his heart racing. And the kind of smile that makes Zack feel like everything is right in the world. The kind of smile that says you mean everything to me. He wants nothing more than to capture this feeling permanently, bottle it up and keep it close forever. He would do anything, say every stupid line if he could keep that smile. Because he was the worst type of fool, he was a fool in love.
