Raya sighed, “I thought we were chilling? I’m chill, well I would be if you let me finish the dishes but apparently, cleaning doesn’t count to you.” She tried to move as carefully as possible, so she didn’t disturb him too much pulling off her sweater so she was sitting in her tank top. “There. Comfortable. Are you pleased with my efforts?” she mocked playfully. “You know eventually I’m going to have to pet Marley. I don’t know if you know this, but we made a deal that every time I come over I have to pet the dog.” As if to agree Marley huffed, making her laugh. “See? He agrees.”

She’d only gotten high twice, both of which happened with Zane. It was definitely relaxing, she understood why he liked it so much. “Okay completely chill. I will have a smoke only if we can order pizza!” She scratched lightly at the side of his face absentmindedly, “Is that chill enough?” @kingkillmongerwrites

Zane clapped his hands in excitement “Yes!” he exclaimed “Thats what I’m talking about, lets get the vibes going” he sat up and moved over to get his stash, “I’ll be right back, Marley keep Raya company for a second. Make sure she stays chill” he said pointing at the puppy in front of him as he stepped out of the room.

A few moments Later, Zane came back into the room with a blunt rolled and sat next to Raya. “Okay, before I spark this up I’ll let you order the pizza so its on its way” He smiled “See chillin and still being responsible.”

Raya sighed, Zane had a good point but talking to her roommate was harder than expected. “Yeah, but you can’t really argue with Marley, and even if you do he’d probably win on account of he’s adorable.” She gasped pretending to be offended “I wasn’t judging! I was just saying. You know I have no problem with you smoking. I wouldn’t be sitting here playing with your hair if I did.” Sighing and leaning her head against the couch Raya stopped moving her fingers “You make that sound easy, being honest with you isn’t the same as being honest with other people! Talking to you is easier and you know I dislike confrontation. I’m just going to hang out with you and Marley while I avoid her the best I can. As long as you don’t kick me out, but I feel like you never will as long as I play with your hair.” @gleekywolf1x1 @kingkillmongerwrites

Raya looked down at him and shrugged, “Never thought it was something I could afford long term plus it seems a little lonely.” She ran her nails through his hair, content with the motion. Getting her nails done with acrylics seemed to be the only thing that worked lately, otherwise she would have bit them down to nothing. And as she’d discovered a while back they were great for playing with Zane’s hair.

“You’re telling me you’re not even a little lonely? Like not even a little bit?” It wasn’t that Raya didn’t want to be alone, but all the time? It really just seems a little sad. Refocusing on her fingers through his hair finding a new rhythm she laughed, “you totally were don’t lie!” @zane420

Zane relaxed a little more, snuggling into her lap a little more, the feeling of her nails against his scalp and her fingers running through his hair brought an extra and different comfort aside from being stoned. “I feel that, but I mean, you’re you... always strong and independent. ‘Don’t neeeeed nobooody’ ”  he teased “I really don’t get that lonely I guess.... I’m okay with my own space and peace. Plus I have Marley whose always down to chill.” He shrugged, trying to hold back his own laughter, “I just don’t need you judgin okay.” He sat up and placed his hand gently on her knee. “You just gotta be real, like you are with me. Tell her the truth and accept your own”

Raya huffed, continuing to scrub the dishes “It’s upsetting because she’s making it seem like living in a clean space and not partying when you have work in the morning are problematic, they are not. But it’s fine I’m just gonna wait here for a bit arguing with her is pointless.”

She didn’t even notice him get up, but suddenly he was next to her at the sink. “But I have to…I just…” She tried to pull her hands away but she let him bring her to the couch. “I like doing dishes, it’s relaxing, I’ll do them later.” Raya sighed dramatically, “Finding a new roommate is going to suck though, I mean I don’t want to but I can’t live alone, and I am not moving back in with my parents.” She paused, looking at her friend with narrowed eyes, “You were talking about smoking weren’t you?”

Zane listened as his friend ranted. Picking his guitar up he then laid across her lap, looking up at her, completely interested in what she had to say while he quietly plucked at the strings. “Why exactly can’t you live alone?” He asked “When my roommate moved out, I definitely felt like I had more freedom... you definitely don’t have to worry about somebody all in your shit or living in a way you don’t agree with.” 

He grinned at her question before acting as if he was offended. “Wooow really Raya, weed?  of all the things I could have been talking about, you just assume I was talking about smoking?”

Fed up || Raya and Zane

Raya grunted in frustration, things with her roommate were shit again. This was getting more difficult to ignore, to chalk up to just personal differences. Sure Raya knew that she wasn’t the most relaxed person in the world, but her roommate Emily’s constant need for parties, drinking, and general messiness were getting out of hand.

Needing to get out of her apartment for a bit, she took a walk across the hall to Zane’s and knocked, huffing as the door opened when she turned the handle. “You know how I feel about you leaving this open!” she commented as she let herself in locking it on the other side. She quickly surveyed the area, it was definitely cleaner then her place at the moment but there were dishes in the sink. She rolled up her sleeves and started washing, she needed to relax.

“Emily’s home talking incredibly loudly about moving out like I’m supposed to object or something! What am I objecting to? Not living in a pigsty? Who would object to that, that is preferred! I don’t understand, I don’t understand,” she mumbled the last bit to herself a few times before glaring over in the direction of Zane’s couch. “This would be the part where you said something you know?” Raya continued scrubbing the dishes, probably much more intensely than need be.

Realizing what she had just done, barging in on him she sighed, “Sorry I guess what I meant was…hi?” @kingkillmongerwrites

“Hi...” Zane responded with a soft smile, his eyes low and glossy. He had  just smoked and been sitting on the couch strumming at his guitar before his distressed friend came barging in, so he was pretty relaxed to say the least.

“You’re right, I really should start locking my door” he joked. “But to answer your questions...I don’t know why Emily expressing she wants to move out is upsetting, I mean it is what you want right? tell her to get her stuff and bounce.” He shrugged.

Setting his guitar down he got up and shuffled over to Raya. Zane hadn’t had a roommate so he didn’t really have to deal with this type of thing so he didn’t want to say anything that wasn’t helpful. Grabbing her hands he pulled her away from the dishes “You don’t have to do that, come sit” he said calmly. “Maybe its me, but I feel like this could be an easy fix.”
