Happy pride month to everybody, but especially to Ryan Gosling and Markiplier‘s intergalactic space rock polycule
it doesn’t have to be good it just has to be done
The phrase "They don't want it perfect, they want it Friday" does wonders for my productivity.
I tell this story all the time but I'll tell it again! When I taught kindergarten full time, we had a working bee one weekend where we did a bunch of gardening/landscaping in the outdoor area. One of the dads put up a bit of fencing, then stood back and had a look, kind of frowning like he wasn't sure. His wife then came along, and the following conversation ensued:
Wife: GETMO? Husband: (after a moment, with a sigh) Yeah, GETMO. Me: GETMO? Wife and husband, in perfect unison: Good Enough To Move On
Absolutely LIFE CHANGING acronym, friends and enemies.
letting myself have a fandom moment here, please forgive me. like. when I'm interested in a fictional relationship, I'm interested in the dynamic between them and interested in how a romantic aspect could change or REVEAL further aspects of their dynamic. the want for that relationship to be romantic comes from a place of engaging w the plot of the story and the personalities of the character. it has never come from a place of "I want these characters in a healthy monogamous relationship with one another where they get married and have kids together" like ur all out of ur mind for this
"they'll always be gringues before they're black, before they're disabled, before-"
That's crazy, because you wanna know a specific moment where someone being Black clearly mattered more than being an American? At the World Cup, where IShowSpeed was called racial slurs on live TV. Over soccer. Once again, the situation which kickstarted this conversation.
Clearly his being American did not stop them from very comfortably calling him a monkey! I wonder what they saw about his identity first that made that happen 👀 I wonder what sort of society one must be raised in, in order to call someone a racial slur so comfortably 👀 But you know, apparently white supremacy can only be called out in the United States.
Anyway, every single response to this situation has sounded like this to me
Y'all want us to believe this is about anti-imperialism and not racism so bad, as if antiblackness globally is not a huge factor in the imperialism you claim to be fighting against 😭 like, give it up, you are fooling no one but yourselves fighting this one
And what's wild is no one has denied the original racism, either. No one has pulled a "this isn't normal here". Barely acknowledging it, actually. It's been the ongoing equivalent of "yes this is racist, but you're making white supremacy here WORSE by TALKING ABOUT IT! You aren't even FROM HERE! Why don't you bring up OTHER PEOPLE'S RACISM" 🙃 And meanwhile I bring up other people's racism all the time. The US' racism most of all. It's just that I also brought up theirs this time, too. Grievous sin.
So There's This Open Wound At The Heart Of The Text
Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. It’s a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
He said the exact same thing, which I did not know before that, so spreading this knowledge.
where would we be without friend OCs... nowhere good!
did a bit of driving through the state of georgia today and wound up driving through a small town that i later discovered was called newborn, which is an odd name but doesn’t technically have anything wrong with it, except for the fact that i nearly gave myself whiplash doing a double-take at a building sign advertising NEWBORN TAXIDERMY
& honestly there's no debate to be had the zendaya earrings are orders of magnitude worse than kim kardashian wearing that marilyn dress. yes that piece was a one of a kind unique textile made so specifically for marilyn monroe she had to be sewn into it. at the end of the day it was a ~70 year old usamerican cultural artefact being repurposed by an american for an american cultural event and everyone involved knows exactly where the dress came from + what happened to it + where it went afterwards. zendaya is wearing the looted (or forged) cultural heritage of a people her government is currently bombing & whose lives they have been deliberately making unliveable for decades to a movie premiere that has fuck all to do with iran. we don't know where those discs came from where they were found or by whom & we never will. AND the jeweller appears to have altered them substantially from their original condition. destroying a people's cultural heritage at the same time you destroy their country + their lives so you can look good on a red carpet One Time i want to fucking hurl
The earrings, worn by Zendaya at The Odyssey press tour, are believed to be 2,000-3,000 years old and come at a time when the US is bombing
An archaeologist quoted in the article says "the point of these earrings is not to showcase legitimate ancient artistry, it is to fetishize the past, to be a commodity, stolen from the elite, circulated illegally, and immorally…this is about class signalling."
A series of greatest hits from possibly one of my favorite parody accounts on anything ever.
In love with this random guy who had a lock slapped on his storage unit for not paying its rental and not only did he ignore management and took his stuff out without paying, but also chose to steal the lock itself and send it to the LockPickingLawyer along with a confession letter
@theoutcastrogue
cant believe you didnt include the full sentence
People always focus on the "lockpicking" part of his name and ignore that the lockpicking lawyer is, indeed, a lawyer, and can tell you exactly which crimes you committed in getting this lock to him
You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.
Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?
Three cueing. Once you learn about it, a whole lot of very frustrating online discourse with US Americans makes so much sense 😭
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have
If you were taught to read with the three cueing method, and now struggle to read fluently, you can still learn to read properly!

theyre so dupid
i dont think its a "sin" to "destroy and betray yourself for nothing" because there's no such thing as sin, there's no such thing as yourself and there's no such thing as nothing. and destruction and betrayal are subjective. you're most likely totally fine.
