I'm an ace lesbian born and raised in germany with english being my second language. I can also understand spanish and japanese fairly well since I studied them for years but stopped, so my own communication sucks ass rn. I'm also very autistic and deal with chronic depression and social anxiety.

All this to say, I'm generally very introverted and shy but I love meeting new people! Taking the first step is very hard for me whatsoever, and I tend to forget about Tumblr for periods of time because of work,, My main way of communicating is through discord (lyraeii) though I do tend to just lurk in servers. I just crossed with your posts about black hairstyles references and OMG I love your art style so fucking much. Im an European White person who likes to draw hairstyles with fun shapes a lot, so afros, braids etc are super fascinating to me because they can adapt so many different shapes.

However sometimes when I give different hairstyles to the same black character I have issues with traslating the braids's lenght to the afro's size and vice versa. I always end Up thinking that I made the braids way too long or the afro way too short. I don't know if you could give me some advice on this.

You can actually get away with the braid length depending on the characters hair type tbh! It can even be a cool little character trait you imply by their hair alone! Many things come into play with hair, one of those is something we call ‘shrinkage’! For some black people, I think for hair in the 4C range mainly, their hair can have heavy ‘shrinkage’. Meaning that their hair is SO curly/kinky, it’s shrinks back closer to their scalp after being combed out to its full length. Every see hair videos of a black person talking about their hair, and it’s looks like it’s barley neck length, but when they pull a strand out to stretch it out, it’s almost as long as their arm? That’s shrinkage! I’m saying all this to say, maybe if you have a character with an Afro, but you give them long braids, maybe they have heavy shrinkage in their hair! I think that’d be a cute little character thing to see in some characters fr😭 But a helpful tip I can give is, an Afro it’s really just our hair combed and puffed up. I’d say really the height/width of the Afro would be the best teller to how long the hair would be if it was braided. A small Afro would probably have neck length braids. Anything bigger might be up to/past the shoulder a bit. And the more exaggerated you get in size, the longer it would be!

1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people aren’t more likely to be violent than anyone else

2) schizophrenic people’s autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, they’re more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic person’s relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.

actually caring about the rights and safety of children is so stressful right now because a large amount of the time I'm sitting there internally screaming "THAT'S WORSE. THAT POLICY IS GOING TO ACTIVELY CAUSE HARM TO CHILDREN YOU ARE MAKING IT WORSE." and nobody cares because it's not actually about protecting children but the thing is children actually do need more protection very badly, just not like that. REALLY not like that. and the things that would actually protect children (education, greater personal autonomy, access to knowledge and resources that don't hinge on their parents being willing/able to provide them) would give adults less absolute power over them and that upsets too many people who see children as status symbols and tools and extensions of themselves.
