|| Get to know NORVILLE ‘SHAGGY’ ROGERS who’s TWENTY-ONE years old and a JUNIOR in college majoring in UNDECIDED. He is from CALIFORNIA and is often times mistaken for ELLIOT FLETCHER while others say he reminds them of SHAGGY from SCOOBY DOO. ||

shaggy has been called shaggy due to the messy curls on his head, but he has been going by noorville legally since he was thirteen. he has always known who he was, but it took a bit for him to find the words to say it out loud. luckily, his parents had as much of a feeling as he did, and they welcomed his rebirth with open arms and a lot of learning. the journey was not perfect and it took a little bit for his parents to get it right, but they never stopped him from being himself.

mystery inc started in junior high when shaggy got his first job as the coolsville paper boy. he was eager to work because he wanted to keep busy and keep the cash flowing for his snack fund because his parents had cut him off. he is aware now that this job was what kick started mystery inc after his bike had been stolen by a monster. he knows now it wasn’t a monster but on the low he is still pretty convinced it was a monster. in some ways he’s happy to have mystery inc but at the same time his stress eating is at an all-time high.

for his sixteenth birthday he was given two gifts; top surgery and a dog that he named scooby-doo. shaggy couldn’t explain it but scooby really brought the gang together in a way he didn’t think would work. because when the gang fought it could be pretty bad, but shaggy and scooby were always there to bring everyone back together.

sixteen was also the beginning of his life-long career as as professional stoner. shaggy started smoking to deal with the stress of mystery inc but then he realized he just liked the feeling and it became a 24/7 thing. it’s to the point where no one really knows when he’s high and we he isn’t. he was a little philosophical before but now he just says a lot of bullshit. but it’s light-hearted bullshit.

he isn’t sure if he’s scared of the monsters and villains or if he likes the way his heart races. the night terrors that come with almost dying on a daily basis were not good, but he just combats that with late night snacks and more drugs. it was a complicated love/hate relationship. he loved it so much but he hated it more and more every day. the move to corona wasn’t as exciting as he wanted it to be and that made him bummed but the longer they spent on the island, the more he warmed up to it a little bit.

shaggy really doesn’t know what to make of the people of corona. a lot of them spooked him, a lot of them intrigued him, and a lot of them were sort of cool. the rumors of magic and monsters and missing people was a lot for him; so he chose to pretend he knew nothing about them. scooby was getting old and he didn’t like putting his pal through the stress of his own stress, so he just chills in the mystery van, living there more than his actual pad. scooby likes the van more so that’s the first place to find shaggy. he got his own mini kitchen in there and plenty of space to nap.

the boy eats like a motherfucker. yes, he does sometimes eat some scooby snacks with his dog, no, he will never verbally confirm it.

when it comes to his sexuality, he is pretty fluid, though he does prefer men over women. he doesn’t ever wanna be picky, but he tends to gravitate towards masculine people more when it comes to sex. when it comes to romance he leaves the door open since he isn’t the type to really fall in love easily or fast. he is very comfortable in his sexuality, which took him years to get to.

he does not do scary movies. life is scary enough and he does not need that. he is more a comedy guy, though a good comedy is very hard to find.

when it comes to college he doesn’t really know what he’s doing there if he is being honest. he isn’t majoring in anything, just kind of going with the flow. he debated culinary school once but he didn’t have the ambition to follow through with it. so for now he is coasting until he decides to drop out for good.

has a deep appreciation for comic books. he wanted to be a superhero when he was younger, but he quickly grew out of that once he saw what real supervillains were like.

big surprise he is a taurus, birthday is may 2nd.

all in all he’s a pretty relaxed guy. he doesn’t want drama and he doesn’t want ghosts and ghouls in his space. but knowing his life, that is gonna happen anyways.

with lottie and roxanne out for the night, tiana planned to just hang out at the house and watch the cooking channel with stella and princess curled up next to her. and being that both of her roommates (who had more of a life than she allowed herself to) were gone she wasn’t expecting anyone to stop by. so when there’s a knock at the door she half expects it to be star coming over for impromptu cuddling and baking again. “hey shaggy,” tiana greets with a smile, pleasantly surprised when her eyes fall on shaggy after opening the door. “what’s up?” though, it’s kind of clear whats up if the suit and flowers are any indication. but still, she has to ask. “what’s the occasion?”

shaggy suddenly felt like his tongue was swollen; words weren’t flowing like they did and he was pretty sure his hands were getting that clammy feeling he got when he felt his heart start to race due to fear. was he afraid? he didn’t think he he was but his heart was telling him something else. "i was....are you busy? i know this is like, last minute, but i wanted to ask you...on like, a date? if you wanted to go out i mean. or like, we could chill anywhere. you know i am chill...anywhere.”

shaggy could not get it out of his head how tiana said she wasn’t asked out ever. it bothered him on a personal level, actually. he thought tiana was the grooviest girl ever and that she deserved to be swept off her feet. so he was determined to do that. he got a new suit at the thrift store, did his hair for once, and smoked lightly before making his way to the apartment tiana shared with her friends. knocking on the door with one hand, flowers in his other hand, and a nervous smile on his face, he gently spoke through the door, praying tiana was the first one to answer. “i....i like, am looking for tiana. if she is not busy and all.”

daphne comes into the house the way she usually does – a flurry of shopping bags and excitement. setting the bags down in the living room, she follows the sound of footsteps to the kitchen not in the least bit surprised when she finds shaggy and scooby doo close behind him. “shaaaaaggy!” she sings, bouncing over to her best friend before wrapping her arms around him and pulling him into a hug. “i’ve got loads of treats and snacks for you if you help me with something.” it’s a flase condition, because whether shaggy agreed to watch her try on all her new outfits or not she would still feed her best friend. she’d be a little annoyed about not getting her way though. @zoinksduude​

shaggy was almost always either in the kitchen or the mystery machine when he wasn’t out with other people. he loved practically living in the van; it was his choice to do so. but every now and then he had to take advantage of the enormous kitchen they had. scooby-doo loved it when he got have the gourmet dog food that shaggy has perfected over the years. of course, shaggy always made himself a plate of it too, but once he heard daphne he figured he could make her one too. “daph, like, you’re just in time. scoob and i were finishing up cooking.” at the mention of treats his eyes lit up, hugging her tightly before pulling away to look for said treats. “like, just say the word and i will do it. scoob too.” he looked down at the great dane, smiling. “like, he is all for it. your treats might win him over more than my dog food will.”

the ball had been a blur of faces and events, all of which tiana barely even registered. she couldn’t even begin to tell anyone who she’d spent the bulk of her night with, countless glasses of champagne and quick conversations with familiar faces something she’d long ago lost track of. normally this would alarm her, but tonight she was sure she’d never been to a more fun event. so, it only makes sense that as the close of the evening creeps up she finally finds one of her favorite people — there was no better way to end the night, she was certain. “shaggy!” she giggles, bouncing on her toes once she’s face to face with him. “you’re here! i was worried you’d skipped out on it!” it didn’t really seem like his vibe at all, and there was always the obvious factor of he couldn’t get away with bringing his beloved dog to this thing. “which it would have been fair if you didn’t want to come that’s totally understandable, but it would have made me sad.” @zoinksduude

shaggy has had a productive night considering the fact that he didn’t want to actually be there. smoking outside with new friends made his mind a lot more clear, so by the time he had run into tiana he was in a better mood by far. she only made his mood even better. he wrapped his arms around her instantly in a quick hug, grinning when he pulled away. “hi tia. how are you? are you having fun?” he hoped so. if anyone deserved to have fun at parties, it was her. she worked so hard, she deserved to party harder. “do you have a hot date? will he kick my butt for hugging you?” shaggy looked around a little. it wasn’t fear, more so not wanting to make anyone mad, and someone as beautiful as tiana was sure to have a date. “and i could never live with myself if i made you sad, so here i am.”

it was probably only halfway through the night, if not a little more, and shaggy had decided the crowds and the noise were too much. it took a bit to get him here, but that mixed with the feeling of not belonging in a crowd like this was enough to get him outside, lighting up, and trying to pretend he was a lot more confident than he was. the fresh air was enough to make him breathe, but smoking was the only thing that seemed to really get his hands to stop shaking. he knew anyone could walk in on him and he sort of expected people to. he was never the type to turn down sharing his shit, so when the first person arrived, he gave a smile. and then one turned into two and shaggy had decided this was going to be his little squad for the moment. “are we all here for the same reason? cause like, that would check out with the way we all look, am i right?” @littletriton​ @invisoviolet​

Fred, who’d found himself distracted by the multitudes of semi-familiar faces, was ready a break; he’d chatted with his bar buddies, met some friends of friends of friends, and had joined the mass on the dance floor long enough to greet everyone there he recognized. It was fun, tapping into the side of him that loved partying, but as always, he’d naturally found himself looking for the gang again an hour or so later. It might’ve been harder, if he couldn’t guess which direction at least one of them would be in, so he excused his way through the crowd until he found Shaggy. Or, until Shaggy found him. Fred reflexively lifted both hands to break the fall, one landing on the front of a shoulder and the other a chest. “Shag,” he acknowledged with a semi fond smile, not letting go until the other gained his footing. “If you’re falling for me, man, you could’ve just said so.” He wiped the crinkles out of Shaggy’s shirt fabric before glancing back up at his face, smile widening. “Having fun?”

Shaggy rolled his eyes before nodding. “Dude, it’s not like I hide my love for anyone. So like, if you choose to ignore it that’s on you.” He ran a hand through his hair. “This party is super fancy, man. I don’t fit in at all. And like, our dates ran off with other people. Which is like, fine, because I got to eat at the buffet without being scolded and like...saw some rad people. But I’m happy to see you again.” He was just more relaxed with Fred and the gang. There was no doubt about it. “How’s your night been?”

“You look all too familiar,” he said, stopping on his tracks. His head tilted to the side as he tried to pin point the exact spot where this human had appeared. Lock was almost positive he had seen some sort of trending picture with someone that looked all too alike the person standing in front of him. It had to do something with ghosts? No, maybe it was monsters. Whatever it was he was the kid, of that he was sure. 

“Fifteen minutes of fame type thing? I’m pretty sure you were trending.” Through most of this Lock was just talking at the kid rather than to the kid. @zoinksduude​

Shaggy knew a lot of people. He liked meeting new people, sharing food with them, sharing other things with them, and being friendly with everyone who deserves it. It was rare someone was so unlikeable that Shaggy loathed them. It was a lot of energy to hate people and most of his went into being afraid of everything.

Admittedly, he didn’t recognize the guy talking to him, but he wouldn’t mind learning a thing or two about him. “I dunno...I mean, like, I do hold a few world records when it comes to consuming copious amounts of food in a short amount of time. And like, my friends are pretty famous and rad, so maybe you know me through them.” There was also him being chill with Barrel, but Shaggy didn’t even put two and two together.

shaggy was seeing a ton of people come and go into his field of view tonight. with the party being so mysterious it did make his heart race a little more than a normal party would. but he didn’t want to be called a coward for being spooked by not recognizing most of the people there. he had pre-gamed before arriving to calm his nerves, but it didn’t do as much as he hoped it would. not even a pep talk from scooby before he left did much. so it was time for option b; the food. he could eat his way into anything if he tried hard enough, and his stomach was grumbling the moment that he stepped into the place an hour or so ago. stepping carefully as he tried to make his way to the table of delectables, he nearly tripped on his own feet. luckily, there was someone there to catch him. with a lazy smile on his face, he looked at his savior. “like, thanks, dude.”

“I know who got me this. There’s only one person who knows me this well. It’s you.”

Shaggy was pretty proud of the skateboard he had presented to Jake as a gift. It had a wicked dragon print on it and was in mint condition. And hearing that Jake liked it made him feel like he was doing something right. He wasn't the best at most things, but he really gave it his all when it came to his friends. "Like, I'm glad you like it dude. We should test it out.. Make sure it runs smooth and stuff." @dragonjakelong

“Wow, that gingerbread house is…unique.” - fred

Shaggy grinned, proud of his work. He had made a gingerbread version of the mystery machine and he thought it looked pretty groovy. And tasty. Very tasty. "Like, I think it's as done as it's gonna be. Take a picture if you wanna show it off to people because I'm about to dig into it." He would do it himself but his phone died a while ago and he had been so absorbed into making this that he didn't even think to charge it. "I gotta eat it quick before Scoob sees it." @fredrichjones

Shaggy grinned at the blonde, already way ahead of her as he searched the party they were at for a can of beer. It wasn't actually Christmas yet, but everyone was dressed up related to the holiday one way or another. Shaggy had his favorite holiday sweater on and as he sauntered over to tink with two cans in hand, he almost spilled some on it from tipping over his own feet. Luckily, he was able to steady himself long enough to sort of keep a cool image. "Here you are, my lady. Tis the season and like junk." @missbxll

honestly, shaggy was grateful that joey wanted to hang out still. after the way things ended and the way he tended to say too much of the wrong thing around her, he really just wanted to make one interaction go right. so he invited her over into his home and this time his actual pad he shared with the gang and not the van due to how cold it was outside. he offered snuggly blankets, hot chocolate, cookies, and a christmas carol on the tv. shaggy was never really good with personal space so he was already right up next to her on the couch, blankets over them and cuddling close. “like, thanks for coming over,” he said with a lazy smile on his face. @joeeyroo

Fred should’ve felt like he lost, seeing Shaggy’s victorious grin, but he hadn’t been heavily invested in winning this one. If he didn’t get them now, after all, it was likely the brunet would just sneak back later. He watched the rollette get lifted towards his lips, trailing the motion with his eyes. “That only explains about half of the weird smells in there, you know.” The other half… Well, there were some things he wasn’t sure he wanted to know. His friend didn’t seem to be wavering in his offer, so Fred leaned the short distance and accepted the mini lasagna, biting lightly on the fingers before doing so. It was good, and hadn’t looked so big before, but the thing was dense, and chewing on it proved that maybe he hadn’t made the smartest decision in trying to down it in one go. He was no Shaggy, after all. “I feel like we should’ve smoked before we came,” he confessed, realizing as the pasta came to rest deep in his stomach that they’d missed what could’ve been an important step.

Shaggy laughed at Fred’s confession, feeling a little bad about it. “Like, did you think I didn’t?” He had smoked before, smoked during, and was planning on taking another moment to smoke in a few minutes. “Fred, you’re cute, but like, use your brain for that one.” He was digging into the container for that mini lasagna roll that was calling to him, plopping it in his mouth and grinning up at him when he was done chewing at it. “We can go smoke if you want. But you have a lot of catching up to do. Like......more than I think you can handle.”

the phantom files S3E18: “frosty the snowman.” location: winter festival in winter village. guest star: mystery inc. @fredrichjones​ @jinkiesdinkley @zoinksduude 

it would be danny’s luck to find himself stuck in the ice palace in the midst of a blizzard. well, stuck with a group of kids he barely knew in a seemingly empty skating rink to be more exact. it’s interesting how a matter of moments can change the atmosphere of something so drastically. as the first night of the festival came to an end, the cheerful energy the night had been engulfed quickly shifted into confusion and annoyance as a storm hit out of absolutely nowhere. and the once packed ice palace became the eerily quiet spot that housed a small group of people who’d gotten caught outside at the worst time. with the power knocked out due to the storm, they had no choice but to sit and wait — wait for the snow to let up, wait for help, just wait. “still no service.” danny grumbles as he looks at his phone again before tossing it to the other side of the bench he was sitting on. “any luck on your end?” he looks over at the mystery inc group. inviting them to be on the show was was a no brainer, but as he sits in the dark with them and one cameraman and no real idea when they’d get out of here he’s starting to think this was a mistake.

one thing about velma was, they were meticulous. they planned for every detail, every kind of wrench that could be thrown into their plans. when planning for the winter festival and filming with danny, they checked their weather app multiple times and a blizzard was never predicted. so, being unprepared for such an event has left them on edge the moment the snow picked up seemingly out of thin air. right now all they could think about was how absolutely freezing cold they are. arms wrapped around themself, velma huddles close to daphne for warmth. they can feel themself shaking, teeth chattering from the bitter cold. no electricity meant no heat, no connection on their phones, no signs that point to getting out of this sooner rather than later. with the blizzard showing no signs of stopping, velma can’t help but sigh at danny’s words. they’d been staring at their phone screen for what felt like hours in hopes by some kind of miracle they could get reception. they shake their head, slipping their phone back into their coat pocket. “ none at all. doesn’t look like we’ll be getting any kind of connection either if this blizzard doesn’t let up. “ they lament, head resting on dapne’s shoulder. “ there was no mention of this in any weather reports “ they point out. “ there weren’t any signs it was coming either.. do any of you find that strange? ” they ask, looking around at their fellow friends, danny, and his crew. // @meddlingdaphne​

in hindsight, daphne could have dressed a little better for the weather. even before the blizzard hit she’d been cold, the tights she paired with her skirt doing very little for her. but she’d never been known to compromise a look for practicality before and she certainly wasn’t going to start tonight. but as she sits next velma, huddled up to her best friend as they shiver, she thinks maybe now should be the time that she puts practicality before aesthetic. “nope.” daphne answers danny, popping the ‘p’ on her answer deliberately. she hardly wanted to think about what it meant that they still didn’t have service, and didn’t want to entertain the idea that they might be stuck here until the morning. when Velma rests their head on her shoulder she smiles a little, giving their hand a little squeeze. “i mean, this island is weird.” daphne sighs, quoting dipper as her explanation of it. “last month it was disappearances, this month it’s strange weather patterns.” it’s said with a little annoyance, because all this and still no closer to finding any real monsters or ghosts. that was the whole reason they’d come here in the first place. @zoinksduude

shaggy was not prepared for the winter festival to get spooky in the slightest. he was havinf a good time with his pals, he ate a lot, he was high as fuck, and all of those things would be fine if dark abandoned ice rink hadn’t been added to the equation. now he was antsy, cold, and shaking as he tapped his foot on the ground so he wouldn’t sprint at the doors and try to pry them open with his bare hands. “this is creepy,” he mumbled, talking aloud but to himself. “not digging this. not groovy...i want my mommy.” he was ready to go insane in here. freeze to death from his own anxious tears. he was not sure which would happen first but they were the only scenarios his brain could come up with. he wanted to scream but he didn’t need the gang to see him worse than he already was. his phone had died hours ago and that didn’t help with anything. he was in his own world when things like this happened. he knew he was aware his friends were close but he felt himself dissociating hard, so he held himself and closed his eyes, foot tapping, hoping scooby-doo was okay. @fredrichjones​

He could’ve predicted Shaggy’s reaction, a testament perhaps to how long the two had known each other. Yet, he was grateful that the other didn’t put up too much of a fight. Well, that is, until he nestled into his side, because, as well as he knew Shaggy, Shaggy knew him. Fred turned his head enough to look down at the far too happy face, blindly maneuvering the familiar card out of his wallet slot. With a sigh and a reluctantly indulgent half smile, he lifted the occupied hand to tap his knuckles lightly on the others chin, shaking his head. “And you’re evil.” He looked back at the worker and held up five fingers, exchanging payment before she dished the mini lasagna rolls into the paper container. Once he received them, and exchanged a quick well wish to enjoy the festival, he offered out the dish to Shaggy. “One of those is mine, but if Daphne finds out, I’m blaming you.”

Shaggy happily took the mini lasagna rolls from Fred, a triumphant smile on his face. “Do you like, want it now?” he asked innocently, picking a roll up between two fingers to hold up near Fred’s lips. He wasn’t going to smash the roll on his face so he tried to be a little careful with it. “Daph won’t find out. You should see the stuff I sneak into the van at night. As long as I don’t get stains anywhere, it’s like, all good.” His stomach was grumbling but he refused to eat a bite until he saw Fred take one first. Before it was to tease him but now it was just to prove to himself that he had willpower. A man with willpower didn’t get caught eating extra mini lasagna rolls.

tiana looks down at the informational pamphlet she’d picked up as she entered winter fest. every time there was an event there was so much to do, so much food to scope out and she struggled a little each time trying to map out the order of what she wanted to try. “hi sweetpea,” she smiles, seeing shaggy approach her. “i just finished my shift workin’ the booth so i’m excited, yeah. what about you? have you gotten up to anything fun yet?” in the grand scheme of things anything shaggy could tell her about his time so far would be exciting in her eyes, even if all he did was eat and maybe hang out with a friend or two. which, knowing shaggy is exactly what he did. they’d bonded over a shared love of food, and no one was more willing to try her cooking than shaggy. “no, i haven’t had anythin’ yet. i was actually tryin’ to figure out where to stop first. so, I’ll gladly take you up on havin’ the sweetest escort on the island.” she smiles, happy that if she was going to be doing this with anyone it was him. he had a calming energy about him, something that was a nice change of pace from the amount of time she spent with her easily excitable best friend. she’d never turn down an opportunity to hang out with shaggy. “what should be first in your expert opinion?”

shaggy’s eyes lit up as tiana talked. he just thought she was so brilliant and he cared about every word that came out of her mouth. he frowned for a moment when she mentioned working at all but he was happy she was done with it for now. she deserved to have fun outside of her work, which he knew she enjoyed, but still it was nice to shake things up every once in a while. and shaggy was an expert on that. “you’re the sweetest person on the island, that’s it,” he said with a light laugh. “honestly it depends on what you’re in the mood for. savory or sweet?” he could eat either honestly. but he could always eat anything. “whatever you want. tiana’s choice!”
