It has come to my attention that we have a hidden proshipper in the TWDG fandom once more.
Please read more for details.
The proshipper in question is your neighborhood "friendly" aziarts or arren. You might be (very) familiar with them because of their art.
You might think, "Wow, that's a bold claim!" because they practically have the ENTIRE fandom on their back and everyone knows them. But see this.
IMPORTANT POINTS:
"They're just jealous of the love that kid and Kenny share."
-> First of all, Kenny (S2) is probably around 50 years (or more) of age, yet this person ships him ROMANTICALLY with a kid. That already sets off enough red flags in more ways than one.
"Age gap: :)"
-> What is that supposed to mean?
"Just a little boy." "Nickname: 'Kid'"
-> I don't think this needs explaining.
"Horny level: Constantly fighting for his life."
-> I don't think this needs explaining either.
-> On a side note, Kenny obviously would NOT want to hit on someone who looks like a young boy. It's already creepy and morally wrong.
-> Remember that Kenny canonically asked Lee whether or not he went to prison for touching kids. It's already not canon in my book at all, considering that this is the very action that Kenny (and any sane human being ever) would never participate in.
Their friends supporting their actions instead of making them confront it is another negative aspect. Drawing proship content means you are directly vouching for the idea, and I don't care if you only do it in selected platforms—you are still promoting it to your audience, known and unknown alike.
Proshipping is bad because it displays an unhealthy, unguarded way of romantic affection. It makes us normalize problematic ships, one of them being huge age gaps such as this one. Even if one were to do it as a coping mechanism—which I am not saying that this person does so—it's a VERY UNHEALTHY method to cope as it can view a twisted, dangerous lens of what romantic affection is supposed to be.
I sincerely wish that arren can reflect their ways and seek help as this post is written. I suggest for all of you to limit your interactions with them as well, and reblog this if needed to spread the word.
