I really like thinking that Spock is just realllly good at drawing like how he plays his harp :]c and Jim is always super impressed!! The ship chart was kinda hard like??? They just equally are genuinely like that, they'd do ANYTHING for the other so that's why the hearts are close to each other... The personality swap is a lot more obvious for Spock than Jim imo since Jim can also be just as brooding as Spock is sometimes... templates under the cut if anyone needs them:

There are certain details that even we—the Spones fandom—sometimes overlook.

For instance, one of the best things about Spones is that they have a few distinct labels—"pairing terms," ​​so to speak.

So, here they are:

The first and most important is "Keeper of the Katra." It’s a wonderful tag that highlights the core dynamic: McCoy is Spock’s confidant—he was entrusted with the very essence of Spock.

The second term, no less important, is "old married couple." They were referred to this way long before the concept of "shipping" even existed in Star Trek.

Another term is "beloved nemesis"[enemies] — a term indicating that their arguments are not genuine disagreements, and one that is literally played out in the episode "Bread and Circuses."

There is also the term "true space husbands," for they are the canonical—and first—queer couple in space sci-fi.

As far as I’m concerned, these terms should become permanent fixtures alongside all content related to Spones.

Holy cow! I posted this earlier today and am seeing people can’t read it due to the cursive writing. I totally forgot about that. So it’s true, we older humans have a secret code that we learned in the third grade. I’m sorry, I will eventually transcribe this and repost. It’s too personal of a DeForest thing not to read.

Here’s a phenomenal piece of DeForest Kelley treasure.

This is a digital copy of an original handwritten letter from De that sold on eBay in 2013. I think it sold at auction for over $1000. Egads, I would have definitely been bidding on this (but not that high).

It’s looks to be written in early 1984. It’s so personal— obviously written to a very close friend or relative.

It’s chock full of personal tidbits about De and wonderful in so many respects: his writing is very stylized and beautiful— I love the way he sometimes crossed his lower case t’s.

De was not handy— his comment about the chicken coop made me laugh.

The part where he described his dream of living in a farm house and seeing the wildlife and distant hills tugs at my heart.

I’ve never seen him sign his nickname before. It’s very cute with the tiny “e” in the big “D”.

His words to her about the awful year she endured in 1983 are so sincerely sweet and caring.

I’m afraid however, that this woman died later that year. I found an obituary from November, 1984 for someone with the same name of the recipient of the letter (Marian Sauer). She had two children— Kenneth and Jeffrey (De mentions Ken and Jeff in his letter). Could this be the same person and perhaps her family sold this letter years later? If it’s not her, i just posted some random person’s obituary.

De was obviously a loving and caring friend and his friends and relations were lucky to have him as such.
