Finished Gideon the Ninth, and a small thing I appreciate about TM’s writing is that at no point in the entire book did I get the sensation that the author hated any one particular character. Gideon, our narrator, hated certain people more than others, and loved certain people more than others, but at no point did I feel the desperation of the author leaking through to bash me over the head with ‘no really you should hate this person’, which I appreciated

Someone at an old job asked why I wanted to write up the meeting minutes for our team and I said 'i wanna control the narrative' and they were like 'what' and I pointed out that no one was gonna remember what we said in six months and so my interpretation of the meeting would dictate the assumed reality of what happened
