Shang Qinghua is such a mood in this drawing. This is my biggest piece I’ve made these past day. Honestly if I do color environments, there must be saturated colors or else it’s too boring for me to do it.
Sometimes I feel like my 18 y.o self. Because it’s summer and I am sad. A lot of different applications I’ve made has been rejected. And it’s hard not to feel unmotivated. Connecting with people can be hard too.
But then I remember I’m not eighteen anymore. I have a lots of ressources and my life is a lot brighter than before. So I will take my eighteen year old self’s hand and tell them
I'm in a little local cafe and the women behind the counter started griping to each other, "Oh Christ, Stephen's back again," "It's him, is it? I thought he'd stopped coming," "It's definitely him, look, it's bloody Stephen on a Thursday morning," "Do you want me to get rid of him or are you going to do it?" and so I was peering outside, trying to spot this nightmare customer, this pestilence of a person, this pox upon the cafe trade, and then one of the women from behind the counter ran outside, clapping two trays together loudly and yelling "GET OUT OF IT, STEPHEN!" and it turns out that Stephen is an absolutely gigantic fuck-off seagull who hangs around outside, menacing people for crumbs
i really love the motif of windows in Backrooms. mary’s book being called “the window within”. the curtains in her office always being drawn. the shot of her behind glass in her own home during the gathering at her house. clark looking through the window into his own house. him being unable to see kat through the glass she can see him through. the window in mary’s mother’s house. the windows in the hospital her mother is brought to that only look out to another building. the drawing that mary finds of captain clark reaching someone up towards a window. the fale window in clark’s “home” in the backrooms that just looks out to more of the same empty space. the window in the interrogation room that’s too high to see out of (and thus to determine if it’s real). the fact that the backrooms lacks any windows to a true “outside space”, and how terrifying that makes it. there is no window within. or, at least, not one that any of them can find
This might be a hot take, but I thought what they did for the "monster" of the Backrooms was ABSOLUTELY GENIUS! How it organically builds upon how the Backrooms work, how it connects to the real world and its people (specifically Clark), and how it creates something that is dangerous and terrifying, and yet at the same time, frighteningly human!
Let me ask you something. Do you think it's interesting that out of all the "people" that were in the Backrooms, Clark's was the only one that was actually dangerous and was actually going around killing people? That's because the Backrooms remembers things in the real world, and "the more times it remembers, the less it does" until it only remembers the details that stand out the most, like how, when you remember a childhood bedroom, you only remember specific furniture or decorations. And the same goes for people!
Because Clark's life is dominated by his anxieties, frustration, fears, and, most importantly, his desire to lash out at everything he thinks is to blame, the Backrooms only remembered those negative feelings. And eventually they all culminated into this dangerous entity. Just like how he lashed out and attacked others that he believes are the fault of where he is, this entity of his own (unintentional) making lashes out and attacks everyone in sight, because, as you can see by the expression on its face, it too is driven by those same anxieties and fears!
That's what makes this my favourite Backrooms entity! Because it's not just another murderous fiend that kills for the heck of it. It's something that beautifully and brilliantly connects to the world it's a part of, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, and helps make Clark one of the best horror movie "villains" in recent memory!
taylor swift is a tyrant for real like value neutral judgement but you can tell in her music the specific point that caligula started visiting her in dreams
she has this 3d-printed mini desk recreation of the bust of caligula with whom she communicates daily and in order to evade football’s suspicions she told him it was jesus and he was like Niiice jesus is actually awesomesauce ❤️ Like jesus helps you with touchdowns🏈🔥 and she was like yess exactly and then asked caligula in perfect latin if he could connect her with the ghost of genghis khan so they can talk strategy
americans are sooo desensitized to guns and sometimes it manifests in ways that affect your media literacy. like remember in the first episode of sherlock when john watson opens up his drawer and you see a gun in there and youre supposed to understand that this is narratively significant and conveys his suicidality as well as his willingness to skirt rules and laws but the first time i watched it i was like oh well theres his desk gun. lots of people have those
First of my glass animal mask series! This was so fun to paint, what other animals should I try? So far I'm thinking owl and deer for a woodland theme🦊🦉🦌
This painting and more have just been added as a print to my webshop :)
When you build your 1992 castle in Bedford, WY, don't wonder why it isn't selling, b/c this is rustic ranch and mountain style country. 5bd, 7ba, 9,500sqft, asking $9.75m.
An enclosed main entrance stairway for the Wyoming winters.
This way to the sitting room thru the main hall.
It has columns, a huge chandelier and an imposing marble fireplace.
But, look at this- two fireplaces facing each other.
The dining room ceiling appears low and dark. There's a large wood fireplace and a built-in China cabinet.
The kitchen has a large dining table and 2 islands.
You can take the tower stairs.
Or the elevator.
Here's tiny little office.
This looks like a hall, but it has a fireplace.
The primary bedroom is very narrow and small.
It has a fireplace at this end.
And, there are 2 bureaus and a desk.
Plus, a small ensuite.
The bedrooms are long and narrow. This one has a nice fireplce.
On the ground floor there's a family room.
A game/home gym.
And, this room. Is that the car behind the glass doors? Weird.
Narrow corridor for storing glass.
Then, there's another family room on the upper level.
Plus a bedroom. This is the roomiest one in the house.
This is like a bunk style room with multiple beds. Must be for children b/c it also has some murals.
A catwalk leads to this one.
This looks like fun. Spiral stairs come up to this turret observatory.
There are actually quite a few towers that you could climb up to, so you can see all of this scenery. The lot is 30 acres and there are also approximately 2,000 square feet of underground access tunnels.
I wish I took a better pic of this writing in a bar bathroom in toronto bc I think of it so often. Be So Completely Yourself That No One Is Attracted To You Or Wants To Employ You
