Yanaâs comments on Ciel in ch.35+36 (Circus arc)

[âŠ] A few new characters appeared in this monthâs chapter~[*ch.35]. Please look forward to these characters and how they will get involved with Sebastian and the others later on.
Like it was the case with the previous two chapters, I think there are a lot of positive and negative opinions on this monthâs chapter as well.
What will happen if thereâs a demon by your side?
What will happen if a human being gets power?
And if they used that power, what would happen then?
Itâs the theme Iâve wanted to elaborate on ever since it was confirmed that Kuroshitsuji is going to be a long-term series, or more precisely, it has actually always been the general concept [of this series]. The Circus arc will end soon, but please bear with me for a while to see what will happen to Sebastian and Ciel. [âŠ]

Iâm sorry for the gloomy illustration. This is Yana Toboso.
The September issue of GFantasy is on sale! It comes with chapter 36. [âŠ] The page that looks like a âMother Gooseâ picture book was drawn by myself too. I tried my best to make it look like a picture book of the 19th century [*referring to this page].
This chapter marks the third anniversary of Kuroshitsuji; time went by so quickly. With this monthâs issue, the Circus arc has come to an end, so this chapter is a turning point in that sense, too. While drawing it, my assistants and I were like âOh no, this really makes us feel so empty inside,â but it was actually supposed to be a festive anniversary chapter! (lol) Iâm sorry that it didnât turn out to be the kind of chapter that makes you feel like screaming âYaaaay, itâs the third anniversary!!!â. Speaking of which, when this series marked its first anniversary, the chapter back then (12 or 13?) was about Madam Redâs funeral and the atmosphere was gloomy, too. Just like back then, Ciel is wearing mourning clothes this time, too, with a crape on his top hat; very noble-like. Compared to him in ch. 13, Ciel [*in this chapter] is quite down. Ohhh, I guess this is what is called âto get bogged down in the mudâ⊠Well, he was a character who was supposed to rush headlong into said mud from the very outset, but it seems like he is now stuck in it up to the neck. But it couldnât be helped, since he is the Queenâs watchdog.
Iâm worried that the Circus arc might have made people dislike both Sebastian and Ciel, but I personally think that this kind of âunscrupulous behaviourâ is what makes [*Victorian] England interesting. If you read the material of that time, youâll see that this kind of news was a daily occurrence and itâs really depressing! Seriously, bored nobles are up to no good. They should go out, work and live more healthily!! (well, this actually applies to me too).
Anyway, I personally think that I did my best to draw this arc. Thank you for your support. The Circus arc, which has been the longest arc in the past three years [of serialization], ends here. It was an arc which put the spotlight on Ciel. [âŠ] I was drawing the Circus arc when the anime [*season1] was on air, so now Iâm just [exhausted,] thinking âItâs all overâ. (lol) However, in next monthâs issue, I think that Ciel and Sebastian will finally make it home and this means that itâs going to be loud, so thereâs no time for me to be exhausted.
The story has reached one of its turning points, but Kuroshitsuji is nowhere near finished, so please continue reading it. Again, thanks to your support, this chapter marks the third anniversary! Iâll keep trying my best [to draw this series]!!! [âŠ]
