another opinion about Kory
I HATE it when people (some Starfire fans) argue that it's better for Kory to leave the Titans, return to Tamaran and rule it. I ABSOLUTELY disagree with this statement.
Kory is a former slave, which she became out of "the good intentions of her father for the sake of protecting the people of Tamaran as a princess." she is the second heir to the throne after the Komand'r, and since childhood she has been taught responsibility for the people, she has been taught to always sacrifice herself for the people and neglect her interests, feelings and literally her life
she has been enslaved for the people since childhood, she was forced to part with the man she loves for the people, she she married an unloved man for the sake of the people, she left her home - the Earth - for the sake of the people, and she left people who REALLY loved and appreciated her, and whom she loved and appreciated – for the sake of the people. for most of her life, she did everything for others, she was always responsible for others, even after she got out of slavery and began to live on Earth, she continued to put the priorities of her people and parents above herself and her well-being, because this is what she was always taught and required to do. she is a princess, she must protect her people and do everything for the sake of the people of Tamaran, no matter how much damage it does to herself and no matter how ungratefully she is treated
would Kory have been a good ruler? most likely
would she like that? absolutely not.
Kory is the personification of freedom and a symbol of feminine strength and independence. she went through hell and did not break down, she gained this very freedom on Earth
she loves Tamaran, it's important to her, but to bind her to it and claim that in the role of ruler of Tamaran (which is literally another of her imposed "duties" from birth, as a representative of the royal family) it would be better for her = not to respect her and not to understand her character
she will always be for Tamaran, she will always be for her people, but she should not rule them, because this literally nullifies her entire history and her entire experience.
The Doctor & Missy: text posts – pt. 5
The Master always rags on the Doctor for hanging out with human beings all the time, but the Master also has a whole universe full of species to fiddle with, and yet! You're also at the devil's sacrament here, meddling with the humans and putting them into situations like a five year old dangling Barbies over a fake volcano. Pot, meet fucking kettle.
belinda went from badass exhausted nurse who reads people red flags like they’re written on their face to a doctor devotee forced into motherhood… okay thanks for nothing
DOCTOR WHO | 2.03: THE WELL + TEXT POSTS
If I had a nickel for every time Russell T. Davies created a Companion of color with medical knowledge who then gets sidelined by the wider narrative, I'd have two nickels. Which isnt a lot but it's FUCKING AGGRAVATING that it's happened twice
The nurses having none of the Doctor's nonsense
also shitposting aside it should've been a horror movie. belinda chandra should've looked down at that child and known she would've died for her. she would've killed for her. and known also that those aren't her feelings. this isn't her child. fifteen wanted this dream so badly that he rewrote belinda's whole life. this ending isn't just a tragedy for the doctor
Doctor Who: Lux
I have a major Doctor Who obsession that I don’t think can be cured so uhhh I drew one of my fave episodes of the newest season. The season was going strong until Interstellar Song Contest, it kinda fucking dies from there I’ll be so real.
Lux is like "not only am I going to break the 4th wall, I'm going to create a 5th wall and break that too."
anyways here’s some panels of talia with her baby boy!!
The incalculable damage "He never let me touch him... hold him..." has done to fandom and DC writers' conception of David & Cass. omg. omg they literally snuggled on the rooftop together while stargazing. He held his arms open to her for a hug on the night of her first kill. One of the first things he did when they reunited was cradle her face. He goes in for a hug again after that. His physical affection was part & parcel of why Cass had such trouble identifying her childhood as abusive don't playyyy with me
some appreciation for kory and cassie !!
Two interpretations of the same scenes
The Censorship of queerness/lgbtq+ in Media and restriction of relationships in idols
In a lot of media, whenever there is a queer relationship, countries always try to either portray their obviously romantic relationship for each other as either platonic or just entirely cut it out. Additionally, it's common knowledge that whenever Idols have relationships with each other. Fans are riot. They face heavy backlash due to the fact of their own parasocial relationships and feeling "betrayed" as idols are portrayed as romantic ideals.
How do this apply to Mizisua? When Sua grabs Mizi's face to lean into a kiss... before she can actually kiss Mizi.
It quickly zooms in instead of the slow zoom it was going for. To end on a "happy end" screen. For censorship, as if their love is something that should be hidden, kept from the audiences eyes. Whenever a queer relationship goes "too far," the episode is either entirely cut or the scene where they kiss is cut from the episode.
For idols relationship, as they can't be in a relationship. Mizi can't. Sua can't. They have to be single for their audience. We already seen this in Mizi's idol career before. She wears proactive clothes, seen with males, and having to film ads that portray her as single. As if her fans can have a chance. All despite her being a lesbian and already having a relationship with Sua.
Another one of the issues Vivinos brings attention to in the entertainment industry.
Or
2. The Fetishization of Queerness/Lgbtq+ (primarily) by a male audience
The primarily is added because there is a couple women in the audience. When they do finally kiss, off screen, the fans screams with joy. Some are even blushing and I do not know what the other one is doing besides Hyuna.
Commonly lesbians are harassed by straight males. That they aren't straight and just needs a good guy or even worse to turn them straight. Like their identity is just choice. That they need to be fix is a common idea or it's this idea of them being a savior. A fantasy. And how even they ask lesbians to let him watch them kiss. Or even just watching them have romantic PDA with each other like it's a show for him.
Sua's public affection for Mizi, one that is heavily personal as it's Sua saying goodbye to Mizi when she is taken off to get her arm chopped off, is treated like another addition to the show to this audience. As the audience cheers and blush at the kiss. Something to enjoyed when it's a normal thing between a couple. Just because they are both women.
When this is tragic final kiss. Before they pull her away like an object from someone she loves. So she can get a body part sold off to her fans, we already know how much her arms/hands play into her body language.
With the way Mizi sings, perhaps it's the only way she can communicate to Sua, "where are you going" As she gasps before ending her singing, either mimicking the knife cutting into Sua... or her realizing what is happening at the end.
this was truly the peak of our pride
