/a/’s Report: Sayo Yamamoto @ CosplayMania ‘17!

Anyway the panel was only an hour long but before that, everyone had to queue because only 200 people can go for the panel and for the autographs. They’ve shown us WttM first before introducing Sayokan and Noda-san (who’s a MAPPA producer btw) into the stage. Sayo told us how she and Noda-san were first acquainted in Shingeki no Bahamut and how they got to work together for YoI. After their whole intro thing, Sayo then talked about the composition for the end scene of episode 1 and how it was parallel to that of episode 12. Same reports as >>162863982, >>162864125, and >>162864236

It’s basically like being in an animation class because she showed us the process of how the scenes came to be, from the storyboards, to the genga, to some final sakuga drawn by Hiramatsu, and then lastly to the finish product which is the anime (complete with CR subtitles too, which kinda surprised me kek).

Also that thing about Victor’s smile at the very end which OP has mentioned, if I remember correctly, they intentionally made it that way that you can’t tell what smile he is making now that he’s back again in St. Petersburg, but Sayo then noted that it’s a peaceful and innocent smile. Lastly, final part of the panel was her skatefagging about MCM and the recent Nebelhorn trophy she stayed up to last night. She’s happy that through YoI, she got a lot of people interested into figure skating. The autograph part was basically the highlight because we got to meet Sayokan face to face and one on one with her signing our shikishi. ;_;

MAPPA just showed artwork at their VAX Malaysia panel featuring Noriko Itou, Tadashi Hiramatsu, and Manabu Otsuka of Victuuri of the rings and it looks like there is a little detail we didn’t know about. The inside of the rings features a snowflake engraving! Each ring only has a half of the snowflake though, so of course, in order to get the full one, you have to have the pair. 

‘They’re a pair’ takes on a whole new meaning. Wow. This is absolutely lovely. ♥  ( twitter source )
