Origins SMP updates from Wilbur's stream!
In 2022, Wilbur wants to make the Origins SMP more like Hermitcraft - more based around builds and the lore comes from the builds.
Wilbur and Ranboo are the chief writers (though it will mostly be improv) - it is a lot more silly and less serious compared to the Dream SMP.
Wilbur will make Youtube content for the Origins SMP, including time lapses for his builds.
Builds being transferred from the old Origins map include Ranboo's crystal cave, Jack's volcano, Ranboo's stronghold, and the Pube.
It isn’t so much that people who can easily get vaccinated yet still choose not to don’t deserve kindness or accommodation, it’s that extending those contributes to insufficient vaccination rates and makes the pandemic worse. The core issue is not deservedness; it is collective responsibility for lives and wellbeing. If you wouldn’t aid and abet unrepentant drunk drivers and gush your respect for their sacrosanct personal right to maim and kill whoever happens to be unlucky enough to end up under their tires, don’t do it for vaccine refusers.
There's a long-time theory that Bertrand is the lord of the Quadroads.
Back in 1.95: "One Year Later..." in about 811 PD, Grog found a very drunk stranger, one without any connections or people who would miss him, in the Quadroads district of Vasselheim and persuaded him to draw one card from the Deck of Many Things. The stranger was granted the ability to cast Wish twice and immediately used the first: "I wish that I was a powerful lord of the Quadroads." Thus, it was promptly done. He was dressed in finery and an attendant appeared at the end of the alleyway, asking the stranger how long he would be. The stranger admits he doesn't know the attendant's name, incorrectly says Grog's name back to him ("Grog Strongthings"), and then left with the attendant. Because Grog never got the stranger's name, he is known at the table and in the fandom simply as "the lord of the Quadroads". Matt remarked at the end of the scene: "There are many lords and ladies of the Quadroads, he's just now one of them."
Bertrand is introduced in The Search for Grog in the retinue of Holy Curator Uleas, representative of the Quadroads, suggesting Bertrand is from or otherwise associated with the area. He seems to generally have status, hence why he was at the meeting at the Platinum Sanctuary that Vox Machina crashed, but he has no apparent high-level connections in the city. Bertrand also has a hard time remembering people's names even if just told, evidenced in The Search for Grog / Bob and carried into Campaign 3.
On top of it all, Bertrand claims a lot of accomplishments, but he doesn't have anything to back it up; it's simply tall tales and boastful exaggerations, inflating his importance and knowledge in all manner of things. In the Search for Grog / Bob, he is a high-level character without having seemed to have done any adventuring, service, work, or study. These together build a sense that he's cheated his way to where he is, somehow.
Despite his participating in high-level combat, we somehow don't know his subclass; I wonder if he had one at all in the one shots, and I speculate that perhaps he did not, he's just a Fighter. I further add that, though we don't know much about him mechanically, Bertrand as introduced in Search for Grog / Bob is mechanically centered on the concept of luck, and of pushing one's luck: he has both the Lucky feat and carries a Gambler's Blade.
Bertrand being the lord of the Quadroads would neatly tie all this together: he is a very lucky man who pulled a phenomenal card out of a Deck of Many things on his first and only draw and instantly gained status that he didn't work for nor was brought up bearing, which created a massive gap in his background, his connections, and his ability that he has to somehow explain, which he attempts to do so by covering up with fanciful tales to paint him as justifiably here. Lucky and the Gambler's Blade is part of an ongoing tapestry of luck that includes that card; his life is about the coming and going of fortune. Maybe he didn't have a subclass to underscore what he skipped over getting to where he is, cheating and never gaining the skill. He is a simply a man of the Quadroads, a lord without connections because he isn't a lord at all, a charlatan and a teller of tall tales because he doesn't have another story to tell. A Wish, the first of two granted by drawing a card, gave everything to him in an instant.
As Bertrand says, in 3.01: The Draw of Destiny, "Not a noble, a knight is generous, but it was a title bestowed upon me, and I didn't shoo it away."
you don’t need to ask for jane anymore: a guide to coming to chicago for a safe, low-cost abortion
A lot of people in the US are super worried about the Supreme Court axing Roe v. Wade, but what they might not know is that some states have laws in place that will protect the right to reproductive choice and abortion if that happens. One of these states is the state of Illinois. In 2019, a law was passed that protects abortion rights within the state even if the federal right to an abortion falls. This means that if Roe v. Wade is overturned, abortion will still be a protected right in Illinois. Even before Roe, Chicago was a haven for safe abortions- you just called and asked for Jane.
Now, safe abortion access is the law of the land in IL, and there are several groups who can help you. This post is long, but I think it’s worthwhile. Even if you don’t read all the way through it, maybe save it for later. You or someone you know might need it. If you want to stop now, the TL;DR is this:
f you’re a minor and you can’t tell your parents, get a waiver of notification from the IL Judicial Bypass program.
Schedule your appointment.
Contact abortion funds to get financial aid. Your home state might have s fund, and the Chicago Abortion Fund can help.
Secure housing for the procedure through the Midwest Access Coalition or by talking to the intake staff at the clinic of your choice.
I’d like to start by saying that the closer to home you get your abortion, should you need one, the easier it will be for you… probably. It depends on your individual situation AND your safety. If I still lived in Indiana and I needed an abortion, I’d probably leave to get it done, even though there are abortion providers in Indiana, because Indiana is super hostile and there’s lots of clinic protestors- for example, when I was taking my GRE my senior year at Notre Dame, the testing center was in this little strip mall in Mishawaka next to Planned Parenthood. Despite the fact that the PP in Mishawaka does not provide abortions, there were protestors who yelled at me for going in there. I wasn’t even going to PP. I’d like to say that I said something devastatingly cool but I just ran in flustered. Point being: It really, really would have sucked if I was there for healthcare instead of a standardized test for graduate school. And that’s a very tame, mild situation! Real abortion clinic protests are often much more devastating!
ANYWAYS. The less you have to travel, the easier things tend to be, if it’s safe to get an abortion where you are and if your state will have protected abortions if Roe is overturned. If you’re not sure what might happen in your state in that case, this map has a clear, succinct overview of the legal status of abortion in each state and all US territories. You will want to click through to that link, because this image isn’t interactive.
[ID: a map of the US with states and territories sorted by their legal protections for abortion into four categories: expanded access in the case of Roe v. Wade being overturned, protected, not protected, and hostile. IL is highlighted.]
So let’s say you live in any of those red states. (Yellow and blue are safe- abortion access is protected there.) Let’s say, worst case scenario, Roe gets overturned and you get pregnant and you want to terminate. You will be able to do that in IL, and it’s relatively easy to do that in Chicago for a relatively low cost and with the benefit of a robust support network of people who want to reaffirm your reproductive choices.
First, if you’re a minor and you don’t want to tell your parents because it’s not safe for you to do so, get a judicial waiver of parental notification. The IL ACLU has a judicial bypass hotline. This will come at no cost to you. Do this ASAP, because it takes time to get it set up! You can do this by calling the hotline at 877-442-9727, texting 312-560-6607, or emailing [email protected].
Next, you need to get an appointment set up. You could get a referral from someone local to you, but this can be tricky- 87% of counties in the US don’t have an abortion provider, and google can lead you to a crisis pregnancy center. They will not help you. If you have a local Planned Parenthood, call them. Even if they don’t provide abortions, they can refer you to someone who can. If you’re coming to Chicago, which this post… kind of assumes you are… you can call any of these groups to talk about your options and what clinics can help you. I recommend starting with FPA or PP; those are two actual clinics. MAC and CAF are funds- they can direct you but they can’t schedule an appointment for you.
Family Planning Associates (FPA): 312-707-8988 or use their online schedule tool, found here: https://www.fpachicago.com/schedule-now/ Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF): Phone: 312-663-0338 (note: the helpline is only staffed MWF from 3:30-6:30 PM CST, or email [email protected] Midwest Access Coalition (MAC): 847-750-6224 or email [email protected] Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PP): 1-800-230-7526
You might want to shop around and see which clinic costs the least, and is the most practical for you to get to. FPA has a lot of patient resources, as does PP. Don’t be afraid to ask for financial assistance. The people staffing those organizations have extensive networks and deep compassion for their patients- if the clinic can’t help, they might know who can.
Once you’ve made an appointment, now’s the time to start gathering financial aid. Some insurance, including IL Medicaid, covers it. If yours does not, or if the copay is still too much, this is where abortion funds come into play. Many states have their own abortion funds for state residents, so you might have to look around to see who can help you. I’d start with the National Network of Abortion Funds.
You also need to figure out transportation and housing while you’re in the city to get your abortion. This isn’t super necessary if you’re just coming for the pill abortion, but if you’re coming for a d and c or other surgical procedure, you will be staying for a couple of days. THIS is why I’m writing this up, because abortion funds typically only are able to help cover the financial cost of the procedure. It’s expensive to stay somewhere and it can be absolutely terrifying if you’re on your own! Navigating while you’re in pain from the procedure can be an absolute devil of a time, too! However, Chicago has MAC (contact info above), which is a practical access fund, which means that they help pay for transportation to the city (bus tickets and train tickets) and around the city (volunteer drivers or volunteers who take rideshares with clients), food, aftercare medicine (painkillers, etc.), and housing, and there’s also free access to emotional support staff throughout your stay. This is not just open to IL residents; it’s open to anyone coming to the city for an abortion. ALSO if you go through FPA, they have a partnership with the Hampton Inn a block away from their location where their patients get a discount. If you go that route, just talk to FPA about housing and they’ll hook you up. This can be super helpful if you need some evidence that you’re on a “business trip” or something like that- if you are in a position where you need an excuse for your safety, that might work well.
Hopefully you won’t need this post- but if you do, I hope it helps. Feel free to share it around. If you have anti-choice opinions and you feel the need to share, don’t. This isn’t the space for it; you will be blocked and your comments removed. And then remember that criminalizing abortion won’t stop abortion. It’ll just stop safe abortions. Also, increased access to abortion, funnily enough, tends to be the thing that lowers abortion rates, because increased access to abortion comes part and parcel with increased access to birth control and general health and sex education.
Reblogging this because it’s always relevant… and because an administrative decision by MAC’s incredible leadership means they don’t just do bus and train tickets anymore. They will also help pay for airline tickets if you need to fly. If you are in the US and need to come to Chicago for an abortion, MAC’s got your back.
In light of recent events.

FUCK cis people being trans is not medical. there can be medical components to transitioning if you choose to go that route but being trans in itself is not inherently medical i should not have to get a fucking diagnosis of gender dysphoria to change my gender marker. actually gender markers shouldn't exist at all why the fuck does my driver's license need to have my gender on it i fucking hate it here!!!
also while we're here if cis women don't need a therapists note to get breast implants or any other type of cosmetic surgery then you shouldn't need it for top surgery either fuck you
hot take cis doctors and cis psychiatrists and cis politicians are not the fucking authority on trans people why do i need a fucking cis doctor to tell the cis government that i am my gender. i hate cis people i want out
cis people will hear a trans person say "im trans" and look to another cis person for confirmation like no fuck you <3 we are the authority on our own god damn fucking selves
cis people don't fucking comment your input is not needed or valued here <3
The last goodbye.

hes trying to come back on youtube so i just want to say. everyone look out for nick robinson. hes an ex polygon employee who was fired for sexually harassing his coworkers. hes trying to blend in with the documentary style video trend.
i got him in my reccomendations just now. his handle on most websites is babylonian
Slight correction: He wasn't sexually harassing his co-workers, he was sexually harassing fans. Underage fans.
youre absolutely right, i regret leaving that out, the exact situation slipped my mind because i haven't read up on it since it all went down
it was both underaged fans as well as women in his industry or trying to break in that had less clout than him. he’s a scumbag in a multitude of ways
Nick Robinson(Babylonian) is a serial abuser who was fired for sexually harassing his coworkers and under age fans.
Before being fired Nick held a lot of influence in the video game community at the time through Polygon. Along with using that power of his platforms reach as an ‘in’ for finding his victims he also used that platform against victims in the industry as more than just a vague threat to stop them from rejecting his predatory advances- the reason this behavior was eventually outed was due to the fact that he had given a scathing public review against a video game in beta and the creator bravely came out to ask if he’d have given them a better review if they’d sent him the nudes like he’d asked. He’d been harassing them and their coworker friend. Because they rejected his gross advances he then took it out on their game- their livelihood.
Games live and die on their press. A bad review from a beloved popular personality reviewer can kill a project. Months upon years of hard work from a wide creative team can be rendered moot as sales tank because fans trust the reviewer. Nick sexually harassed these women in the gaming industry and then used his platform to try and sabotage their careers in the game industry. A particularly heinous example of quid pro quo sexual harassment given that women in the gaming industry famously experience a less than hospitable workplace environment already.
Polygon did a stand up job in their handling of the situation- immediately putting a freeze on everything to conduct a thorough investigation and deplatforming Nick. He was very quickly fired from his position there. The entire ordeal hurt Nick’s coworkers who had been betrayed, Nick’s fans who’d trusted him, the integrity of video game journalism, and of course all of the people that Nick had abused and harassed.
Don’t let Nick regain a platform again. Nick can not be trusted with it. Second chances aren’t for people who’ve repeatedly shown time and time again that they will abuse them. He’s a very charming man and has had a lot of enjoyable content. I don’t doubt that his new content will probably appeal to many new viewers but he can’t be given that sort of power as a popular content creator again.
hey here’s arizona senator sinema (a democrat queen!) killing the $15 minimum wage with a cute lil curtsy and probably doing an adorbs widdle pout behind her mask as she denies millions of workers a livable income, slayyy!
we should kill her
after this shallow defense she made, i think maybe it’s important to remember that kyrsten sinema was largely praised for both being a woman and the first openly bisexual US senator when she was elected. she basically campaigned on it, and has been riding off of the unconditional support she’s received from lgbt dems in arizona ever since. Sinema knows that she can get away with this bullshit, and she and others will continue to use her identity to deflect against criticism in this way. but she is not interested in the well-being of her state Or the people who defend her, and i really wish dems would quit falling for it! but i guess we hate to see a girlboss winning :/

BLM Protest
Teamster Strike
January 18, 2021. New York
Police made two demonstrations violent by charging, injuring, and arresting people at protests for police accountability and workers striking for a $1/hr pay increase. Over 30 people were arrested at the two actions, double the number of arrests of white supremacists who stormed the Capitol in DC.
The Teamster workers arrested have since all been released and are striking again.
NYPD PBA tweeted this the same day they beat and arrested people demonstrating for Black lives and for higher pay.
“There are two MLKs. There once was a man named Martin Luther King Jr. who actually lived and breathed. He was a radical who believed in the redistribution of wealth, argued for slave reparations and that wrote that moderate whites who didn’t speak out on racism were just as bad as the Ku Klux Klan. Seventy-five percent of Americans disapproved of that man when he was killed by a white supremacist in 1968. Then, there is the Martin Luther King Jr. that exists in the collective white memory. Through a complex combination of whitewashing, self-guilt and the intentional rewriting of history that absolves them of their hatred, they have painted a sanitized, impressionist portrait of a civil rights icon whose dreams were fulfilled by America’s unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Out of whole cloth, they managed to fabricate a fantastic hologram of King that is ahistorical, but still “based on a true story.” Their Martin was a lover, not a fighter. They remember a socially conservative, respectable reconciler; not an anti-establishment revolutionary. And, for their sake, his doctrine of nonviolent resistance was eventually reduced to simple “nonviolence.” This is the King they will remember this weekend.”

Keeping the fading language alive
This week, “Let’s Learn Náhuatl” (Ma tiwelikan nawatl), was officially released, an app created to teach and preserve the indigenous Mexican Nahuatl language.
“In a sub-conscious way, you’ll know some Náhuatl , you’ll have heard the greetings, numbers, some verbs, maybe the animals, body parts, types of maize or scared places that govern the Nahuatl world.”
The project is the result of a collaboration between Manuvo, the National Institute of Indigenous Languages, and the Laboratory of Digital Citizenship, and offers a playful experience for those interested in learning Náhuatl words and expressions (which originated in Acatlán, Guerrero).
The graphics were designed by the design collective Metzican who created all the visuals that accompany the application. They highlight the nuances between the various Mexican communities whilst carefully avoiding clichés.
Presently in Mexico there are around 1,586,884 speakers of náhuatl or mexikatl (‘mexicano’) living across the country. The aim of this initiative is to utilise technology as a mechanism to “disseminate and generate interest in the indigenous languages, the community’s way of living and the cosmology of the indigenous villages in Mexico”.
Also in development is an app to learn purépecha, (the language spoken mainly in the northwestern region of Michoacan) which will similarly represent the identity of the village.
The app “Let’s Learn Náhuatl” is available to download for free on IOS and Android. For more info, check out Manuvo.
FYI, they have Purepecha and Mixtec
http://kernaia.com/purepecha/

There are some GREAT apps out there for Native languages.
I have an iPhone - the Native language apps I have are for Anishinaabemowin (Ogoki, Neechee), Chickasawanompa, Choctawanompa, and Mvskoke.
