CORNELIS SCHUT (detail)
I chose you
With three words
With brazen truth
With initiations and invitation
I fell head over heels for you
But more importantly
I choose you
Over and over
I chose you in the haze of youth and firsts
Now I continue to choose you
In the darkest days
The fiercest fights
The lowest lows
Everything is worth it
For the highest highs
the funniest jokes
The deepest dimples
The tightest hugs
And everything that creates this burning, beautiful, blister of love in my chest
You are my love
But more importantly
You are my choice.

Pink softness
Sweet innocence
Unbloomed rose
Petals bleed red
Innocence taken
Memories
Scatter
Sometimes sharp
Pink tinged
Comb handles
Youth exploration
My exploitation
This is the eclipse
A moment of significance in my life
Hidden in the plain
A change that will only be revealed as the plot thickens
The mistake that could have saved everything
But that is the crux
There is no such thing as a perfect story
As a life worth living
Without the consequence of cinema
Can you find themes and motifs
As the life exhales my lips
And the credits role
There better be a good fucking applause
Roses at my bleeding feet as the curtains lift
There will be no refunds
A Pine Wood, Provence, 1906, Henri-Edmond Cross
Medium: oil,canvas
HE SAID “IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD,” I SAID “SO’S EVERYTHING,” BUT HE DIDN’T GET IT
Charles Burchfield, Sunrise and Rain, 1916
I have lived
In the shadows of reality
My entire existence
Watching from the sidelines
As it switches
With the perception
Of You
My facts pushed aside easily
Who knows more
Surely not me
So your correction is my truth
Until the next one
Memories change with the paths of others
My sense of self
Dependent
On an ever changing You

What’s the point of grinding to the bone your whole life for money if you aren’t even gonna be there to spend it…
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, i.e., the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." -Karl Marx, Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844

i'm not sure
I should be better than I am
I am wasted potential
I have not had a job in a year
I never moved out or saved money
Now I am nowhere near working again
More broke than ever
Older than ever
So young
Yet so useless
Can’t leave bed on a good day
You don’t want to see me on a bad day
Can you believe that’s with the medication helping?
I have no reason to change my person
I have lived and I won’t apologize for that
I am working on my wrongs
My life has changed
But my potential will never waver
I may have lost work and money
But I gained a diagnosis
I am closer than before
To functioning
Once again
I will be useful
However the fates lead my way
I will learn to drift among the waves
Without washing out to sea
