Also, I just have to add that a man of Li Shang’s being in love with Ping would be historically highly probable.

So, the Mulan legend typically places her during the Southern and Nothern Dynasties period but then Disney being the appropriative asses that they are chose to set the movie in what seems to be the centuries earlier Han Dynasty

Now, homosexuality in the urban areas of China were seen as a normal thing especially among the more affluent members of society. In fact, practically all the Han Emperors were recorded to have male lovers. Later dynasties don’t tend to record the Emperor’s male lovers but considering that this attitude lasted until perhaps the middle-to- late Qing Dynasty, it’s probably more that the bureaucrats didn’t see the necessity.

Point is, whether he’s a Han prince or a Northern Wei prince (not there he exists in the original poem), Li Shang would likely have both male and female lovers as the average man of his station would have (And if you were wondering: Yes, there was a double standard to this for women because patriarchy)

The jellyfish follow the sun across the lake each day and rotate continuously, so that the algae are always getting maximum sunlight exposure for photosynthesis. Then at night they dive to deeper parts of the lake so the algae can absorb nitrogen. It’s one of the best examples of endosymbiosis in action and it’s KICKASS.
