Here is all of my Monster High Bee dolls together. I don't know why but I really love CAM Bee's design so much that it scratches a specific itch in me and having variations makes me happy.

I'm not much of a G2 collector but having lining these up really makes me want that small bee doll now hahah....

Don't get me wrong I love Duchess but ... her name is one of the worst. So I've come up with some new ones

Visually similar to Duchess so I feels like it's a less jarring change, means sweet so very ironic

Lynette

Literally means lake, so her name would be Lake Swan

Ophelia

Tragic figure in her own story, and similar to the name Odette. Also just pretty.

Alina

Ok, this is the weakest one but it means noble, duchess is a type of noble...

So, someone on X has found the image from FRUiTS Magazine that the one Tokyo Pop Barbie outfit was directly copied from, but, The Internet Being The Internet, they didn't say which issue it was. It's entirely possible someone in the replies there did say, but I don't have an X account so I can't see the replies.

Using the magazine image from the X post, I did a reverse image search and found a Pinterest that labeled it July 2000, so I went to The Internet Archive and found July 2000, and it wasn't there.

I looked at issues around then, and found it in September 2000

What might not be so obvious is that the text on the waistband area of the original is...not suitable for an American toy...

I saw the FRUiTS image in 2004 or '05, showing what a direct rip off the doll outfit is, but didn't think about saving it myself back then, because none of us knew that information would be harder to find in the future

@roisindubh211 asked about the print on the...oh, looking closer at the image, I can sees that it's at the neckline and sleeves, too, so it may have been an undershirt

The bright yellow letters are hard to read, but the other colors say ROCK, DOPE, SURF, and FUCK, with some mirrored. I can't find a completely clear image of the doll's clothes, but...yeah. One or two of those words isn't gonna make it onto the shelves at Walmart XD

Hey all! Sorry for the long absence, I had very long bout of bronchitis but I’ll hopefully be back to regular posts soon :)

For now, enjoy this g3 Twyla who’s (mostly) finished. This doll came to me second hand. So she was in pretty rough shape when I got her, but she’s come a long way. This dolls face is free handed and features glow in the dark eyes. Her shoes are repainted and come from scareadise Draculara. All her other clothes and accessories are from the original doll.

I'm not even kidding it's so clear that everyone sees black people and especially black women as some sort of alternate species. I'm getting into doll collection & customization videos because I've been getting into collecting myself and toys and art are supposed to bring me happiness and even there I can't escape the anti blackness. Like... you're lucky if you find a character or doll that's consistently brown skinned and carefully designed in popular brands. Collectors will always favor light skin or fantasy colors anyways. I had to watch a white creator call a custom Garnet doll "dummy thicc" and describe her in progress proportions as "female rappery" why couldn't you just have said curvy? You're not funny or cool and I'm very tired

all of their entries on the Bratz wiki (wikiz?) are so funny because they're like. they're characters that are designed to be interesting for young girls who like playing dress up with dolls but they're also supposed to represent the abstract concept of a Teenage Boy, whatever the hell that is, so all of their personalities are like "loves to flaunt the coolest clothes and flashiest shoes! has a huge collection of belts, gloves, and hats that he takes great pride in! also enjoys uuuuh monster trucks and death metal"

The fact that Skullector Adelaide and Red are still in stock after a long time discounted genuinely makes me a little mad. Is Us too niche or unpopular? Are the dolls too Black for people? (Bianca Barclay didn't do too well, either, and this could easily send Mattel the worst message.) I think the Us set is genuinely on the peak end of the Skullector spectrum (review here) and even competing against the Xenomorph, I think they hold very strong. It really bothers me that the dolls didn't perform well.
