“I’ve found that if you act like a moron, adults tend to leave you alone. It’s when they think you might be as smart as they are that they give you a hard time.”
- Marco, Book #30: The Reunion, pg. 13 (by K.A. Applegate)
I have got to be more perverted <- girl who is not only someone who constantly puts other people's wants over her own wants and even needs, but is also worried about it being perceived as sexual harassment or it offending them or people thinking she's a gross freak
ha-ha, ha-ha what do you think of the Calendula, ha-ha? and its sister, the Minotaur, ha-ha?
I, for one, enjoy their novel movement technology (and anti-movement technology, ha-ha)
- Lovingly, something that Honks
>// Well, to be exceedingly pedantic, comparing the HORUS Minotaur-PG to the RKF Calendula is mostly incorrect. >// In my eyes, it's like comparing the Kobold PG to the IPS-N Lancaster on the basis that both were originally used in industrial applications. >// I think it's an exercise in foolishness to conflate the RKF's overeager overengineering of technology they barely have a fucking grasp on, with HORUS' chaos philosophy of not needing to understand and still knowing it will work. >// And that's not coming from any love for either, understand, RKF is enabling imperialist expansionism in the Dawnline Shore, and HORUS is... HORUS. >// That aside, the Calendula is underwhelmingly fine for being a glorified fork of an already incredibly capable codebase. In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if RKF simply forked it so that they could maintain some manna flow with Karrakin pilots that have been migrating away from their outdated Orchis-PG. >// I mean hell, they put out Smith-Shimano licensing rights on their flagship product. That's rough. >// I'm getting off track. >// The Minotaur-PG itself interests me to no end, and I sadly haven't yet been able to examine one in detail myself. Their internals are a complete mystery based on all the documentation I can find, and that only makes me want to pry apart their secrets even more. >// Movement and anti-movement are one thing, that's fine, I've seen Goblins use hijacked Minotaur copycat invasion liturgicode, that doesn't interest me in the slightest. >// But I've never seen another HORUS Pattern Group be capable of - quite literally - folding spacetime within and without itself at will. That, my honking friend, is terrifying. And I study Anticognition Memetics for a living.
and then there would have passed a pleasant slash fanfiction, had the authors misogyny not been immediately unveiled
in our rush for “he would not fucking say that” how we forget the all too common: She Is Not Fucking Like That
good morning, the likes on this post now outnumber the hit count of the fanfiction on which this was based and with your help we can make that true of the reblogs amen
Everyone reblog this. Mandatory.
love when the mutual takes the mutual bait. yes that post was for you. yes it was about our lil guy. thanks for falling for it. I love you
Hello friends we need to talk about this twitter account:
You might know him from a thread where he was getting wowed by free appetisers in a Mexican restaurant.
Firstly: He is doing a bit pretending to be a wandering samurai. It's a joke and his posts are all made up. This is very obvious if you actually look at his account and website:
He does purport to be Japanese but based on some of the other content he posts there's reason to believe he's British.
Which brings me to my second point: his Samurai content is interspersed with posts like this:
And this:
He is not cute or funny. Stop platforming him.
The chips and salsa thread went viral in June and his website seems to have gone live in July. This confirms what I suspected which is that said website with it's explicit disclaimers was made in response to the big viral hit.
Consequently, back when he first blew up it was potentially a bit harder to figure out that his stories are fictional. That said, the New York Times worked it out so I'm comfortable accusing outlets who ran the story describing him as a Japanese world cup tourist of legitimately terrible journalism.
Regarding some comments in the notes:
Yeah this is also the guy from the truck thread going around. That's what prompted this post and in retrospect I should have said so explicitly.
He claims he just uses AI to translate his posts from Japanese. He also says the art on his website isn't AI generated. I think he is full of shit on both counts.
I only gave a couple of examples but even on a brief look through his twitter it was apparent that he posts a LOT about UK politics to the point where he's quite patently British. He is a Restore supporter which is a party that split away from mainstream far right party Reform due to feeling they weren't right wing enough.
It might not surprise you to hear he does not seem to know shit about Japan? Both the salsa story and the truck story failed the smell test for people who are familiar with Japan. There's also a story about going to a potluck where he seemingly couldn't come up with a single Japanese dish for the character to cook??
Yeah his whole bit is racist and it is troubling that so many people took a guy badly roleplaying as a medieval samurai to be a 21st century Japanese tourist.
One time a friend told me that if she wanted to have a chill night she would come to me and ask for tea and a book to read. I didn’t like tea at the time, but I always made sure my cupboards had them in case she needed a quiet night. One time I told my boss that I loved oranges, but couldn’t peel them because of my nails. For a year he made sure to peel me one at least once a week. Once my friends gave me a made up superlative of “most likely to have a pen they could borrow” and ever since I’ve made sure I always carry a pen with me. A long time ago, my high school librarian told me that no one would care what my grade in my sophomore chemistry class was if I’m bringing them doughnuts and asking them about their day.
Sometimes friendship is about carrying pens and peeling oranges. But the point is, surrounding yourself with people who you want to do the little things for. The point of it all is bringing in the doughnuts because you’ve found the people who deserve the doughnuts.
How sweet it is to be with people you enjoy taking care of
America fans will be like “America would be so good if only it was any good” and they’re right
